We have had to re-shuffle some of the talent and matches for this weekend of shows. This is all based on NEWS decisions, not wrestlers changing plans. I will post updated cards when matches are officially confirmed. The main events of Last Man Standing: Lowthian vs. Iceman at Peterlee and Mexican Street Fight: Kirby vs. Ligero at Seaham are still scheduled to go ahead

results are in for tonight and we now know the full card for tomorrow night at Seaham Leisure Centre

Tonight at Peterlee Leisure Centre...

AJ Anderson defeated Micky Long in an entertaining back and forth opener. AJ scored the pinfall after a perfectly executed superplex

Tony Spitfire bested his student Micky "The" Mann in a very technical contest

Dead Reckoning retained their NEWS Tag Team Championships, beating The Dragon Ryders in a 'power vs. speed' style match up with the big men winning following a John Britain powerbomb on Lewis Chambers and a Jack Norton chokeslam on Robbie Ryder simultaneously

After the interval Max Heat was defeated by Iain Robinson after interference from Dead Reckoning - ahead of their tag titles rematch tomorrow - when Jack Norton distracted the referee and Britain powerbombed Heat and draped Robinson over Heat for the three count. After the match Dead Reckoning stalked Heat with chairs but Heat's partner, AJ Anderson, rushed to the ring, grabbed Britain's chair, smashed it over Norton's skull, busting him open in the process. He then forced Britain to retreat with a chair shot across the back and Heat and AJ got on the mic and ranted at Dead Reckoning, predicting they would reclaim their titles tomorrow in Seaham

In the main event Iceman came out of retirement to face Lowthian in a bloody brawl in a Last Man Standing match. Iceman started well until an attempted cannnonball from the apron onto a seated Lowthian went wrong when The Tyneside Titan avoided the move. Lowthian took control, battering Iceman inside and outside the ring, even outside the venue at one point. Bins were thrown, Iceman was thrown into walls and into chairs. Pints were swilled over both wrestlers and the action was intense. Eventually Iceman was bleeding after being rammed into a chair, propped in the corner between the top two ropes. Iceman had a brief comeback later in the contest but Lowthian's advantage of competing regularly eventually aided him to outlast Iceman. Lowthian emptied a bag full of hundreds of drawing pins and unlaced Iceman's boots, atomic dropping Iceman several times barefoot onto the pins. This brought out Iceman's son - who was attacked by Lowthian at the last NEWS show - who pleaded for his dad to stay down, then pleaded the referee to stop the contest, then begged security to help, all to no avail. Lowthian started repeatedly using his patented pump kick to boot Iceman in the had. Finally the referee intervened as Iceman's son threw in a towel and the referee showed compassion announcing Lowthian as the victor as Iceman crumbled in the corner.

Lowthian ended the show explaining he had brought Iceman out of retirement so he could be the one to truly end Iceman's career and said Iceman joined a long list of victims throughout 2011 that included Bingo Ballance, Pac, BT Gunn and more. He then proclaimed 2012 would be an even bigger year for him as he was turning his attention to the NEWS British Championship and would be dominant at the top of the NEWS roster. As he turned his attention back to Iceman for one last beat down, several of the NEWS roster rushed to the ring to ensure Lowthian was done. After The Tyneside Titan left ringside the NEWS fans chanted for Iceman and gave him a standing ovation.

results from tonight

Lowthian beat Tony Spitfire in an entertaining back and forth contest with Lowthian being tested more than he expected by the experienced Spitfire but eventually Lowthian won following an F5

Lewis "The Dragon" Chambers defeated Iain Robinson after Robinson missed a moonsault and Chambers followed up with a Dudley Dog type manouevre

Fast & Furious are the first two time NEWS Tag Team Champions after chopping down the big oak tag team Dead Reckoning. The defending champs won the first fall in a 2 out of 3 falls match after Britain illegally used the title belt to floor AJ Anderson. The reigning champs tried to leave as victors but were summoned back as the rules were reiterated. No sooner were they back in the ring when AJ rolled up Britain for a quick equalising fall. Eventually, after another ten minutes or so, Britain fell victim to an Anderson spine buster and Anderson and Max Heat regained their NEWS Tag Team Championships.

After the interval Micky Long bested Robbie Ryder in an exciting pacy encounter, with Long finishing Ryder with his trademark tombstone piledriver.

In the main event El Ligero once again retained his NEWS British Championship against Martin Kirby in a brutal Mexican Street Fight. Both men were put through tables and slammed on the venue floor, hammered into brick walls, slammed on chairs and much more. Ligero was hip tossed from the ring steps through a table situated on the venue floor below, Kirby was slammed onto chairs, the referee was levelled with a Ligero superkick - inadvertently when Kirby avoided that fate - and finally Kirby was stomped through a table from the top rope! Kirby had tried to superplex Ligero through the table set up below, Ligero wriggled free and Kirby found his legs tied in the ropes and his torso and head draped over the table. Ligero came off the top and stomped Kirby with all his weight through the table for the 1, 2, 3.

Thanks to all who attended the shows this weekend, whether it was as a paying fan, a member of staff or the lads putting their bodies on the line to entertain the NEWS followers. We will return in 2012.

  • 4 weeks later...

The Iceman return was built to perfection. He was the reluctant hero while Lowthian was the young, upstart wanting to batter the old stalwart. The match sounded excellent (with Iceman's young son adding to the drama brilliantly).

Can I just say the NEWS 1st Anniversary DVD availible on here through Fye is worth every penny of the
