Dragon Gate on GAORA TV - April 25 & May 13, 2010 - (2 hrs)

April 25, 2010, Hakata Star Lane (2,350 fans)

1. CIMA & Gamma & Genki Horiguchi -vs- YAMATO & Kagetora & Akira Tozawa [* 3/4]

--- Happy action with the Warriors and the reborn Genki Horiguchi. And after we match we had another reborn joining Warriors - Ryo Saito! Looking like a total reject! He didn't join right away and ran out on them, but after the next bout they had a deal. Anyway the match was the usual Dragon Gate action match until Genki had ex-Warriors guy Kagetora, the guy he replaced in the group, pinned with a backslide.

8:38 of 14:40 - Horiguchi pinned Kagetora with a backslide

2. Susumu Yokosuka & K-ness -vs- Takuya Sugawara & Yasushi Kanda & Kenichiro Arai & Kzy - (Handicap Elimination) [**]

--- 2-on-4 elimination bout. Unfair I'm sure, but it had the happy ending with Ryo Saito coming in for the rescue helping the minority beat the drunkards! The action was the ordinary. Fun, half-tired, with most of the guys having new more colorful and cheap looking costumes trying to freshen up the act. And Yokosuka got to be the king with his lariats.

10:27 - Yokosuka pinned Arai with a lariat

13:29 - Kzy pinned K-ness after a double-arm piledriver

17:29 - Yokosuka pinned Kanda after the Mugen

18:18 - Yokosuka pinned Kzy after lariat

12:41 of 21:18 - Yokosuka pinned Sugawara with a huracanrana

3. Shingo Takagi & Cyber Kong © -vs- Masato Yoshino & BxB Hulk - (Open the Twin Gate Unified Tag Title) [* 3/4]

--- Edited down so much that it was all big moves mania without the build up leading there. Explosive at times! But I didn't get a complete experience from it. There was something too mechanical about it all. It wasn't anything different really. Regardless the match had it's moments and the champs retained!

10:51 of 24:47 - Takagi pinned Hulk with the Made In Japan. Takagi & Kong retain the Open the Twin Gate Unified Tag Title in their 1st defence.

May 13, 2010, Tokyo - Korakuen Hall (2,350 fans)

4. Takuya Sugawara & Yasushi Kanda & Kzy © -vs- CIMA & Gamma & Genki Horiguchi - (Open the Triangle Gate Title) [* 1/2]

--- Happy Warriors tag which was more comic then serious which is not really optimal for a title match. But at least they felt happy yo be there with Genki getting eggs and flour thrown at his bald head. No hair grew, but he went to heaven with the Backslide From Heaven on Kanda to end their reign after only 8 days as champs!

13:21 of 15:55 - Horiguchi pinned Kanda with a backslide. CIMA & Gamma & Horiguchi become the 27th Open the Triangle Gate Champions.

5. Shingo Takagi & Cyber Kong © -vs- Susumu Yokosuka & K-ness - (Open the Twin Gate Unified Tag Title) [* 3/4]

--- Dragon Gate formula. Kind of a slow starter, but then they came to the big moves mania of near falls and the usual. It ended up becoming more a battle of lariats with Yokosuka's Jumbo No Kachi being the best of the day knocking down Cyber Kong effectively! And to win the tag belts!

21:09 of 22:49 - Yokosuka pinned Kong after a lariat. Yokosuka & K-ness become the 12th Open the Twin Gate Unified Tag Champions.

COMMENTS: Fairly even quality. Solid fighting, but without being able to reach the massive hights they should.

NOAH on G+SN - April 25, 2010, Sapporo - (3 hrs)

April 25, 2010, Sapporo Teisen Hall (1,450 fans)

1. Masao Inoue -vs- Kento Miyahara [*]

--- Miyahara got to trouble the veteran a little before getting submitted to the Argentine. For a Inoue match this was almost good.

10:17 of 10:18 - Inoue made Miyahara submit to a Argentine backbreaker

2. Mohammed Yone & Shuhei Taniguchi -vs- Akira Taue & Masaji Aoyagi [*]

--- Decent enough, but still..... Old Aoyagi jobs to Yone and his deadly Muscle Buster!

9:26 of 9:27 - Yone pinned Aoyagi after a Muscle Buster

3. Go Shiozaki & Akitoshi Saito & Taiji Ishimori -vs- Jun Akiyama & Yoshinari Ogawa & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi [* 1/2]

--- Kikuchi! They really played him in this one! Akiyamam & Ogawa let the poor bastard fight alone and even if he had their co-operation he did most of the fighting in this one anyway. And he got a solid beating here with Shiozaki finishing him off with the Go Flasher.

18:38 of 18:38 - Shiozaki pinned Kikuchi after the Go Flasher

4. Kensuke Sasaki & Takashi Okita -vs- Takeshi Rikio & Genba Hirayanagi [* 1/4]

--- Only a match for them, but Genba had enough time to make Sasaki sick of him. And you know what Sasaki does to people he's sick of....

14:04 of 14:05 - Sasaki pinned Hirayanagi after a lariat

5. Takashi Sugiura & Naomichi Marufuji & Atsushi Aoki -vs- Yoshihiro Takayama & Keith Walker & Ricky Marvin [* 1/4]

--- Aoki and Marvin made sure there was qualities here. Well, everyone contributed a little, but this was no match of mass importance. Best moment was Marvin nearly having the heavyweight champion beat with a driving cradle, but sadly for him he soon found himself slamed Olympic style and there was no getting up from that!

18:33 of 18:33 - Sugiura pinned Marvin after a Olympic Slam

6. Yoshinobu Kanemaru © -vs- Delirious - (GHC Junior Title) [* 1/2]

--- Delirious of all people getting a GHC Junior Heavyweight Title shot!? Can't say I cared too much about this one. Average performance with one super awesome moment when Kamemaru did a brainbuster dropping Delirious right on the edge of the apron landing very hard! Somehow he was alive after that and survived another brainbuster in the ring. But then came one brainbuster too many......

17:56 of 17:57 - Kanemaru pinned Delirious after a brainbuster to retain the GHC Junior Title in his 2nd defence.

7. Bison Smith -vs- Takuma Sano - (Global League '10 - Block A) [* 1/2]

--- There is a lot of heavyweight fighting in the Glabal League and here is another featuring lumps of meat. Average stuff really. But I'm glad it was Smith that won.....

15:50 of 15:50 - Smith pinned Sano after the Styles Clash

8. Takeshi Morishima -vs- Toshiaki Kawada - (Global League '10 - Block B ) [* 3/4]

--- Wow, the second Morishima vs Kawada match of the year! And it's yet another match that left a lot ot be desired. Kinda sloppy and kinda just their basics. And it was only the last minute or so that was good as Morishima woke up with lariats knocking the aging legend silly enough to get his win back from their February 28th match.

12:41 of 12:41 - Morishima pinned Kawada after a lariat

COMMENTS: These NOAH mid-tour shows really offer very little. Even with big tournament matches like Morishima vs freakin' Kawada it a let-down.

BJPW on Samurai TV - April 28, 2010, Tokyo - (3 hrs)

April 28, 2010, Tokyo - Korakuen Hall (1,275 fans)

1. Yuichi Taniguchi & Kanjyouro Matsuyama -vs- Daikokubo Benkei & Kuishinbo Kamen [1/2*]

--- Big Japan and Osaka Pro gathering for a comedy extravaganza. Well, the usual bits of comedy we're used to seeing form this with actually some wrestling moves finishing the bout!!!

11:50 of 11:48 - Matsuyama pinned Kuishinbo after the Jindaiko

2. Yoshiko Tamura & Kaori Yoneyama -vs- Tanny Mouse & Marcela [* 3/4]

--- Joshi guest match collecting NEO, JWP and Mexico! And it was a positive experience with motivated girls and Tanny limiting her stupid stuff in favour of a good joshi exhibition. Yoneyama mixed lucha well with Marcela for some charming stuff and Tamura was on nailing Tanny with a very hard elbow to finish it off!

13:15 of 13:13 - Tamura pinned Tanny after a running elbow smash

3. Onryo & Shiori Asahi & Daisuke Masaoka -vs- Mens Teioh & Takumi Tsukamoro & Kazuki Hashimoto [**]

--- Men's Club style action match! And the freshest Big Japan rookies Tsukamoto and Hashimoto fit much more in with these guys then the bigger straight wrestling division or the death match guys. Here they got to show what they were good for. Speedy action managing to keep up very well and also trouble the opposition looking better then they've been so far in their career. K-Dojo's Asahi and DEP guy Masaoka added their stuff with a passion and filled it with energetic spot wrestling until Masaoka finally managed to put one of the rookies away.

12:38 of 12:36 - Masaoka pinned Tsukamoto after a Shining Wizard

4. Takashi Sasaki & Shadow WX & Shinobu -vs- Yuji Okabayashi & Ryuichi Kawakami & Atsushi Ohashi [** 3/4]

--- Lovely because of Ohashi of all people! Well, this match was designed to make the younger guys look real good and they did. Ohashi has always been a loser, but here he over-achieved to massive hights! He took the beatings like a man and somehow with his small frame managed to knock the heavyweights down! Also Kawakami got to use his muscle to surprise the veterans and Okabayashi showed he's one of the stongest in the company. A real cool match with a lot to love! Ohashi's rise to fame wasn't to last though and Sasaki managed to care of the little guy dropping him down Emerald Froison style.

16:04 of 16:02 - Sasaki pinned Ohashi after the D-Geist

5. Jun Kasai & Jaki Numazawa -vs- Daisuke Sekimoto & Yoshito Sasaki - (BJPW Tag Title Tournament - Final; Hardcore) [*** 1/4]

--- Talk about awesome! The BJPW Tag Title has mostly been used for the non-hardcore guys in recent years, but now the hardcore guys want the gold and turned this tournament final into a violence fight! Hardcore to the fullest! And what a bloodfest! Sasaki was pouring blood at the hands of the hardcore team. The way Kasai was mouth-fucking Sasaki's blood tells you all you need to know about the punk attitude this war had! Sekimoto was only partly invovled but counter attacked Kasai's Pearl Harbor Splash in a wonderful way catching the impact and lifing the crazy monkey up and down in a brainbuster! Numazawa was also motivated, but most of this was about Sasaki and Kasai and they really did bring the fight! Chairs and deadly impact blows all over the place while they were bleeding like insane crash dummies. But no matter how many stiff attacks Sasaki got in and survived he could not finish the job. And after kicking out of the Pearl Harbor Splash he had little left and the rest was easy for Kasai who landed a high-angle double-arm piledriver to win his first Big Japan Tag Title! Numazawa briefly held the belts back in 2004, but neither guy have really been targeting tag gold before now. And now they are hardcore tag kings!

21:13 of 21:11 - Kasai pinned Sasaki after a vertical drop reverse Tiger Driver. Kasai & Numazawa become the 29th BJPW Tag Champions.

6. Ryuji Ito & Abdullah Kobayashi & Kankuro Hoshino -vs- Yuko Miyamoto & Isami Kodaka & Masashi Takeda - (Light Tubes Death Match) [** 1/2]

--- Miyamoto and Ito are building hype for their BJPW Death Match Title match the next week. And they fought quite a bit doing enough to create some importance. This was a fairly average light tubes match at first, but a very good final stage between Ito and Isami made the match come to life in a real trashy way crushing big light tube bundles with high risk moves to get the fans love! Very violent with the big moves landing well and Ito really got a solid beating from little Isami. But Ito has got to look strong before he challenges for the garbage belt so no surprise about him beating Isami in the end kicking a massive light tube bumble into Isami's chest before crushing more light tubes with a Dragon Splash for the pin.

22:31 of 22:29 - Ito pinned Isami after a top rope light tube bodypress

COMMENTS: A real good show from Big Japan. Mostly for the hardcore, but it had some surprises aswell with everyone happy to perform and make this a very fan friendly show!

NOAH on Samurai TV - April 29, 2010, Sendai - (2 hrs)

April 29, 2010, Sendai Industrial Exhibition Mansion Aztec Museum (1,000 fans)

1. Akira Taue & Yoshinari Ogawa -vs- Takuma Sano & Atsushi Aoki [3/4*]

--- Half-comedy opener as comedy is all Taue seems to do these days. At least he seems to enjoy his pensionist days in the ring which is more then what one can say wbout his fellow generation wrestlers like the half-crippled Kobashi and dead Misawa. The match wasn't much and as usual the younger guy can't get a break over veterans with nothing to offer.....

7:10 of 14:32 - Ogawa pinned Aoki with a backdrop suplex

2. Go Shiozaki -vs- Ricky Marvin [3/4*]

--- Clipped to bits with Go crushing Marvin to pieces.....

4:28 of 11:16 - Shiozaki pinned Marvin after a lariat

3. Kensuke Sasaki & Takashi Okita -vs- Keith Walker & Jason Jones [*]

--- Not really a exciting match and I wouldn't mind never seeing Jason Jones ever again because he's about the blandest gaijin I've ever seen. Glad Okita took care of him!

7:36 of 15:09 - Okita pinned Jones after a Jackhammer

4. Takashi Sugiura & Masao Inoue & Shuhei Taniguchi -vs- Mohammed Yone & Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Genba Hirayanagi [*]

--- Not exactly a very motivated 6-man. Their very normal stuff and absolutely nothing else. Maybe even a little less. And with 6 guys deviding the work that's not enough to please me. And to top it off Inoue fucking won.

9:26 of 17:36 - Inoue made Hirayanagi submit to a Argentine backbreaker

5. Yoshihiro Takayama & Bison Smith & Delirious -vs- Akitoshi Saito & Taiji Ishimori & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi [* 1/4]

--- Weirdo fun with Delirious and grumpy broken-down madman Kikuchi. So light-hearted fun and not too much excitement or quality wrestling. Kikuchi had to be beat up. There was no other way out of this one and Smith deliverd the Bisontennial on a clueless Kikuchi for the win.

17:51 of 17:51 - Smith pinned Kikuchi after a Styles Clash

6. Takeshi Morishima -vs- Naomichi Marufuji - (Global League '10 - Block B ) [* 3/4]

Osaka Pro on SKY-A - April 29, 2009, Osaka - (1 1/2 hrs)

April 29, 2009, Osaka - Matsushita IMP Hall (858 fans)

1. Tigers Mask & Black Buffalo -vs- Mineo Fujita & Atsushi Kotoge [* 1/4]

--- Quite a solid bout. Too bad they felt they couldn't air all of it. After some good action Buffalo surprised Kotoge with a cradle out of nowhere for the pin.

4:39 of 12:43 - Buffalo pinned Kotoge with a counter cradle

2. Tsubasa & Asian Cougar & Miracle Man -vs- Zeus & Yutaka & Shigehiro Irie [*]

--- Zeus is back!!! Not as roided up, but with a more fine toned body and a nice thin porn moustache. Didn't show too much here as the action here was not too exciting from what was shown. A lot of this Yutaka who's nobody special. At least Miracle Man put an end to him MD style.

5:16 of 13:23 - Miracle Man pinned Yutaka after a Miracle Spiral

3. Kanjyouro Matsuyama & Ranmaru -vs- Takoyakida & Ebessan III [1/4*]

--- The usual comedy bits..... with nothing unusual added. Former Jd' wrestler Ranmaru beats a man.

5:24 of 10:05 - Ranmaru pinned Takyokida with a forward rolling cradle

4. Toru Owashi & Hideyoshi & Masamune -vs- Orochi & Tadasuke & The Bodyguard [* 1/2]

--- Owashi making a guest appearence in Osaka Pro! Teaming with Hideyoshi & Masamune to take care of some not so high in the rankings. Two moments stood out for me. The first was the 3-on-2 suplex where they managed to suplex Bodyguard on top of the other guy on the swing! That was funny. The other was Tadasuke who impressively managed to suplex Owashi after almost losing control on it. Showed strenght there! The strongest in the match ended up being Hideyoshi who didn't have too many problems taking the snake guy out.

7:45 of 13:15 - Hideyoshi pinned Orochi after the Rakujou

5. Kikutaro © -vs- Kuishinbo Kamen - (Osaka Pro Owari/World's #1 Titles) [*]

--- Slapstick mania! Everything except serious pro-wrestling in true Kuishinbo and original Ebessan fashon! Not much fresh comedy material, but they're old stuff was enough to make me laughing. And the new king of comedy is Kuishinbo Kamen!

12:44 of 12:44 - Kuishinbo pinned Kikutaro after the Kankuu Tornado to become the 3rd Osaka Pro Owari Champion.

6. Billy Ken Kid © -vs- Daisuke Harada - (Osaka Pro Title) [**]

--- First defence for Billy against Harada getting his first chance at the Osaka belt. And the match was ok. But it was like a normal match slowed down and streached out to make it a long one with one or two highspots added for suspence. And therefore the excitement came too slow and low to keep it up there. Harada's big one was the leeping footstomp off over the top rope to the floor! Otherwise both guys got the near falls with their bigger moves until Billy finally landed the Firebird to retain.

24:44 of 24:44 - Billy pinned Harada after a Firebird Splash to retain the Osaka Pro Title in his 1st defence.

COMMENTS: Overall a ok and even show. Too much of the undercard was edited, but at least we got the two most important matches in full.

AJPW on Samurai TV - April 29, 2010, Tokyo - (3 hrs)

April 29, 2010, Tokyo - Korakuen Hall (2,000 fans)

1. Minoru & Hate & Toshizo -vs- Masa Fuchi & Soshun & Yasufumi Nakanoue [3/4*]

--- The first TV taped match of rookie Soshun who debuted on April 19th. Fairly tall guy, but didn't look too well trained and he was little invovled in the action. The other rookie in the match was taken care of by the Voodoo Murders.

7:57 of 7:58 - Minoru made Nakanoue submit to a cross-kneelock

2. Rene Dupree -vs- Seiya Sanada [*]

--- Dupree getting to look like a strong gaijin, but I'm not impressed with him in the ring. His personality just doesn't shine through and his technical qualities are limited. And he gets to beat someone more promising then him in no time using the Revolucion Bomb.

6:57 of 6:57 - Dupree pinned Sanada with a Spiral Bomb

3. Kaz Hayashi & KAI -vs- NOSAWA Rongai & Mazada [* 1/4]

--- A half-motivated Tokyo Gurentai match with the AJPW babyfaces making sure the match had a good pace while beating the shits up!

10:23 of 10:23 - KAI pinned Mazada after a top rope bodypress

20100429057.jpg

4. Taiyo Kea -vs- Satoshi Kojima [** 1/4]

--- A friendly fight between two former Triple Crown Champions! And Kea was the one to look strong as Kojima is on his way out of the company. Nice of Kojima to be that good to Kea who's had a bad few years as a singles wrestler and needed a big win like this. Kea worked over Kojima's arm most of the match and controled it that way. But there wasn't to be any submission. No instead it turned into the usual finisher finish with Kea kicking out of the lariat and Kojima kicking out of the TKO34th. Then it was time for Kea to win using the modified Ace Crusher to beat Kojima one, two, three.....

17:15 of 17:14 - Kea pinned Kojima after the H50

20100429050.jpg

5. Super Crazy & BUSHI -vs- Shuji Kondo & Hiroshi Yamato - (Junior Tag League '10 - Final) [** 3/4]

--- The Junior Heavyweight Tag League Final 2010 and it ended with a great climax landing big flying moves and close cradle pins! The action was always good, but I struggled to get into it the first half as the action might have been a little to ordinary, but what a finish!!! BUSHI and Yamato especially had some real nice sequences. BUSHI didn't get to be the hero, but Super Crazy made sure the team won the 2010 version of the Junior Tag League!

19:44 of 19:44 - Crazy pinned Yamato after the Spanish Fly. Crazy & BUSHI win the Junior Tag League '10.

20100429031.jpg

6. Akebono & Ryota Hama © -vs- TARU & Big Daddy Voodoo - (All-Asian Tag Title) [** 1/4]

--- HEAVYWEIGHT!!! Former WWE wrestler Viscera with Voodoo Murders leader TARU against the sumo boys Akebono & Hama! Probable the heaviest tag match to happen in Japan this year. And what a fun match this was filled with super heavyweight drops. My favourite was probable Big Daddys rolling senton on Akebono, but there was loads more to love about this. Hardly a pretty match and painful in many ways. The end was kind of comical as Big Daddy was going to splash off the second rope, but he wasn't able to get his other leg on the second rope so it was one foot on the second and one foot on the first rope as he leeped off to splash Akebono for the win. Just before Hama had accidentally splashed Akebono when attempting a save so the two started fighting after the match with Hama walking out on Akebono who was then attached by the Voodoo Murders until Kea made the save.

12:00 of 12:00 - Big Daddy pinned Akebono after a second rope bodypress. TARU & Big Daddy become the 83rd All-Asian Tag Champions.

20100429073.jpg

7. Kohei Suwama & Masayuki Kono -vs- Masakatsu Funaki & Minoru Suzuki [***]

--- The All Japan new generation against the ex-Pancrase side of Suzuki & Funaki who are now teaming after feuding for months! And while they didn't managed to keep the intensity up for the entire match, man was this a super brutal battle in parts!!! Especially as Suwama managed to fight off both Suzuki & Funaki at the same time! That was awesome! The main story however ended up being Kono's rise in the ranks. He did get a royal beating from the shooters, but as a experienced shooter himself he took the pain like a man and gave back of the same brute force! There was so many hard blows in this one it's difficult to remember all. And after a brutal battle it was Kono who emerged victorious with his top rope kneedrop on Funaki after he and Suwama had done a double-team move here Suwama was kneeling with Funaki lifted on his shoulders and Kono came running in with a stiff knee to knock Funaki hard to the mat.

26:12 of 26:13 - Kono pinned Funaki after a top rope kneedrop

COMMENTS: One of the best AJPW shows so far in 2010 with 4 matches with something to offer!

HUSTLE on Samurai TV - April 30, 2010, Tokyo - (2 hrs)

April 30, 2010, Tokyo - Korakuen Hall (1,322 fans)

20100501009.jpg

1. Nattoman the Great(G.Sasuke) -vs- Robot Man [*]

--- Since this is Wataru Sakata's Hustle we had to see the return of his damn stupid superhero character Natto Man, except this time it's played by Great Sasuke! And he was facing a robot guy who started out wrestling like a robot but then re-programed himself to wrestle with human movement. But the main moment of the match was when Sasuke went to the bathroom to filla bucket of water then go and get ice cubes at the beverage stand and poured it over the Robot, and then was stupid enough to touch him getting electricuted in a chain reaction. Nattoman the Great still beat the machine The Wrestler style!

12:00 of 11:54 - Nattoman pinned Robot Man after the Ram Jam

20100430087.jpg

2. I Am C & Amon C & Giant C -vs- Choshuka & Piranian Monster & Moudoku Cobra Danshaku [1/2*]

--- The C's make a comeback with Hustle.... So does the Hustle Monsters in the Riki Choshu like mosquito, the cobra guy and the pirana. Re-run mania from the old Hustle with the triple C's winning Zero-One style.

9:53 of 10:43 - Giant C pinned Choshuka with a German Suplex

20100430069.jpg

3. Shinjiro Otani & Shiro Koshinaka -vs- LOCO & MOCO [3/4*]

--- Sandy Beach & Chad Aloha doing Hustle gimmicks in the Zero-One-Hustle connection while also coming over to wrestle for Z-1. And it's against Z-1 top dog Otani and the cult classic Koshinaka. The match never really grabbed my interest much. A lot of Hawaiian wrestling, which was too average even if MOCA's blond afro was cool and LOCO was doin some surfin'. Nah, it was very deserved that the all-star Nippon team won. High dropkick and diving butt-butt to finish off Aloha.

11:31 of 9:44 - Koshinaka pinned MOCO after a top rope hip attack

20100430050.jpg

4. Joe Megalodon & Black Joker & LOCO & MOCO -vs- Wataru Sakata & Noburo Yamaguchi - (Handicap) [* 1/2]

--- The Hustle babyface Sakata gets beat up for 20-min plus and his tag partner was helpless and unable to hurt a fly.....and the heels smashed him like a fly. So it was a 4-on-1.....or 5-on-1 as there was this horrible heel referee invovled too, with Sakata only getting a tiny comeback in a slow destruction. A clear story.... not so exciting wrestling..... and Sakata gets killed off as deserved for restarting a low-rent Hustle.

25:04 of 20:13 - Joe pinned Sakata after the Punishment Bomb

COMMENTS: Out of the ruins of Hustle comes Smash, Tenryu Project and....HUSTLE! Wataru Sakata's Hustle. And it was a basic Hustle show without many stars, but with very Zero-One flavoured help. They tried to create a new heel manager type, but he's by far the worst heel boss in Hustle history.

FREEDOMS on COMM - May 2, 2010, Yokohama - (2 hrs)

May 2, 2010, Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse (337 fans)

1. The Winger & Ricky Fuji & Koji Nakagawa -vs- Brahman Kei & Brahman Shu & Antonio Honda [*]

--- Not sure how wise the Honda and Hell Demons pairing. They were clearly having differences of opinion about the wresting. This was done in a very light-hearted way, with the amusing Honda stuff filling most of the time until the Sato Twins started getting more involved and messed things up for each other resulting in old washed-up Nakagawa winning the bout.

13:58 of 13:58 - Nakagawa pinned Kei with a jackl knife cradle

2. Keita Yano -vs- Kazuhiko Ogasawara [1/2*]

--- This was always going to be a ugly and awkward fight. But to help we had Abdullah Kobayashi in Ogasawara's corner to assist him in beating the little shit up. And then the stupid thing happend. The help backfired and Yano managed to beat the old martial artist by count out!

7:04 of 7:05 - Yano defeated Ogasawara by Count Out

3. Shadow WX & Magnitude Kishiwada -vs- Madoka & Kamui - (Hardcore) [* 1/4]

--- Big old bullies against lighter flyers in a hardcore match. And it had to go the way it did with the guys looking like brawlers beating the ones out of their element. There wasn't too much hardcore. Some boards and chairs, but they made the most of it doing some nice throws on them. Madoka & Kamui tried some more spensty attacks to counter the power stuff, but they were never really in any real control over the action and once Kishiwada started Last Riding Kamui was found dead....

14:21 of 14:23 - Kishiwada pinned Kamui after a Last Ride powerbomb

4. Tajiri -vs- Great Kojika [*]

--- Former WWE superstar Tajiri against..... a 68 year old?! Well, you had to put aside the old mans weakness and pretend along with the wrestlers that Kojika could possibly hurt Tajiri. But to make some sense out of it Great Kojika had his gang at ringside helping along. The Sato Twins, Antonio Honda, Abdullah Kobayashi and Onryo where all there contributing to Kojika's cause. Especially when the referee was down from white powder the situaion looked hopeless for Tajiri. But once the referee was awaken and the other guys had left the ring, Tajiri blew mist of the old mans face and Buzzsawed him for the win!

13:29 of 13:30 - Tajiri pinned Kojika after a Buzzsaw headkick

5. GENTARO -vs- HIROKI [*]

--- Slow technical bout GENTARO style with HIROKI having little to add or offer except for in the final minute or so when HIROKI with a bloody face finally woke up and kneed GENTARO hard in the skull. The pain was too much for HIROKI too after GENTARO had worked over that leg the entire bout so no cover. He tried some other finisher, but then GENTARO locked that leg back into a bending hold and HIROKI had to tap.

18:59 of 19:00 - GENTARO made HIROKI submit to a leglock

6. Takashi Sasaki & Jun Kasai -vs- Tatsuhiro Takaiwa & Masashi Takeda [* 1/2]

--- And a decent action match to finish off the show. Nothing unusual, but solid enough small show fighting to finish the show off on a positive note as Freedoms boss Sasaki beating the guy they've used the most time to push in Masashi Takeda with the Fire Thunder piledriver.

16:27 of 16:28 - Sasaki pinned Takeda after a Fire Thuder piledriver

COMMENTS: The show wasn't as bad as the ratings much suggest. They all had a tiny bit to offer, but it kind of just stopped at that not giving the fans a complete experience.

AJPW on GAORA TV - May 2, 2010, Nagoya - (2 hrs)

May 2, 2010, Nagoya - Aichi Prefectural Gym (3,200 fans)

1. TARU & Big Daddy Voodoo & Minoru -vs- Satoshi Kojima & Masa Fuchi & Soshun [* 1/4]

--- Fun Voodoo Murders match against the All Japan faces. Best moment was when Fuchi was doing his bodyslam stuff and Big Daddy stepped up. We all knew that was never going to happen in a million years! Rookie Soshun was the natural target and after getting a little bit of offence Big Daddy took care of him too splashing him flat.

9:12 of 12:59 - Big Daddy pinned Soshun after a second rope bodypress

2. Kaz Hayashi © -vs- NOSAWA Rongai - (AJPW Junior Title) [**]

--- NOSAWA as challenger isn't the most exciting thing to happen to the junior title in All Japan. And thankfully they didn't give the belt to him either as this was Hayashi's 11th successful defence in a row. It had a slow start, but got half-exciting toward the end with NOSAWA getting a few chances and Hayashi fighting back as the junior ace that he is.

20:33 of 21:53 - Hayashi pinned NOSAWA after the Power Plant to retain the AJPW Junior Title in his 11th defence.

3. Masakatsu Funaki & Taiyo Kea & Akebono -vs- Kohei Suwama & Masayuki Kono & Seiya Sanada [*]

--- The stars! And they sadly don't bring anything special except letting Kea look strong. Only a match on the way to giving Kea a win.

9:27 of 14:30 - Kea pinned Sanada after the TKO34th

4. Ryota Hama © -vs- Minoru Suzuki - (Triple Crown Title) [** 1/2]

--- Hama's only defence to the Triple Crown belts. Sadly. I love the fat bastard! But it was lovely watching him take the Suzuki bullying and answer back with the bulldozer style of wrestling. But with stamina being an issue and him getting a bad knee during the match he was basically doomed. And it was watching him take Susuki's crap that became the life of the match as Suzuki went for the knee with Inoki like kicks and make the big pieace or lard choke on a sleeper before Suzuki managed to Gotch-style piledriver him!!! That was the end of Hama's unexpected Triple Crown reign and the start of Suzuki's second reign. Turning into a entertaining match even if it started kind of slow.

19:33 of 21:44 - Hama pinned Suzuki after a Gotch-style piledriver to become the 42nd Triple Crown Champion.

COMMENTS: Hama~~~ poooor Hama.......

NOAH on G+SN - May 2, 2010, Tokyo - (3 1/4 hrs)

May 2, 2010, Tokyo - Nippon Budokan (11,000 fans)

1. Akira Taue & Masao Inoue -vs- Yoshinari Ogawa & Jason Jones [3/4*]

--- Only the opener with the guys that feel satified with doing as little as possible....

9:31 of 9:31 - Inoue made Jones submit to a Argentine backbreaker

2. Toshiaki Kawada -vs- Akitoshi Saito - (Global League '10 - Block B ) [** 1/4]

--- Kawada almost did a Misawa....pretending to fade away on the Saito backdrop using a lot of time to recover....and not recover, falling over again like only Kawada does. He did however kick out of the second backdrop and after a wonderful enzuigiri for Saito where Kawada just crumbled down to the mat. And that was the best Saito had so then it was time for Kawada to fight back. And he really did with some vicious elbows! And then the facekick for a very nonchalant cover! Classic Kawada in periods! The main moments was as good as they got, but there was a lot of dead time too.

16:13 of 16:13 - Kawada pinned Saito after a facekick

3. Kensuke Sasaki -vs- Takeshi Rikio - (Global League '10 - Block A) [** 1/2]

--- Power fight, impact style. Right up both guys alley. Sasaki was naturally the slugger king, but Rikio followed well. I guess he had to be focused or else Sasaki would have crapped him some more. Hard hitting all the way and the match was up and going the entire time with little delay. So a straight to the point battle in which Sasaki won once landing the Northern Light Bomb!

13:26 of 13:27 - Sasaki pinned Rikio after a Northern Light Bomb

4. Yoshihiro Takayama -vs- Takeshi Morishima - (Global League '10 - Block B ) [** 3/4]

--- God damn, that top rope legdrop from Morishima landed bad! It became more a hip drop with Morishima crashing down all body on Takayama's face!!! That was trully awesome. Morishima pulled out more then usual going to the top also splash Takayama flat giving this slow heavyweight monster fight some big highlights! Takayama was more the suplex and submission machine working over Morishima's arm a lot in the early portion of the fight before he knees harder strikes started coming. And once he had shock of Morishima dropping down on him he came with the backdrop suplex and hard knees to the body and skull. And then sent him to Everest......! And thats why Takayama is in the finals.

14:56 of 14:56 - Takayama pinned Morishima with a German Suplex

5. Jun Akiyama -vs- Takashi Sugiura - (Global League '10 - Block A) [***]

--- The fans really cared! One of the few remaining veterans stars in Akiyama battling the current GHC Champion Sugiura for who goes to the final of the first Global League. Too me it was more the fans that lifted this one then the wrestlers themselfs because they match consisted a lot of throwing one and other around in various suplexes without selling much and repeating that for most of the climax build up. It worked, but it was no genious match. Both had a strong submission moment too, especially with Akiyama's front neck lock, but this one relied more on the Exploders and versions of that. And then came a wrist-clutch Michinoku Driver almost which ment Akiyama had defeated the champ to go to the final and meet Takayama in the main event!

21:48 of 22:49 - Akiyama pinned Sugiura after a modified Sternness Dust

6. Takuma Sano & Taiji Ishimori & Ricky Marvin -vs- Takashi Okita & Kento Miyahara & Satoshi Kajiwara [* 1/2]

--- Then to just fill out the card with a NOAH vs Kensuke Office which few seemed to care about at all. Then again they haven't done much lately to make anyone care much for the KO guys lately anyway. The action was average too. Former Toryumon trained wrestler Kajiwara was taken easily care of....

9:23 of 9:23 - Ishimori pinned Kajiwara after a Firebirn Splash

7. Go Shiozaki & Shuhei Taniguchi -vs- Naomichi Marufuji & Atsushi Aoki [* 3/4]

--- Decent filler tag with some suplex highlights from Taniguchi being the main reason to watch it. First his double-man suplex and then the finish in which he took care of Aoki in fabulous manner lifting the junior heavyweight up on his shoulders and then throw him ready for a very beautiful bridging German!

15:22 of 15:22 - Taniguchi pinned Aoki with a modified German Suplex

8. Bison Smith & Keith Walker & Delirious -vs- Mohammed Yone & Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Genba Hirayanagi [* 1/2]

--- Genba..... versus...... Smith & Walker..... Ha ha ha..... Thats what this match lived on. And the little shit got what he deserved. The others added a little and Genba got most of his offence fighting the weird one Delirious, but he had to get squashed didn't he......?

10:54 of 10:54 - Smith pinned Hirayanagi after a Styles Clash

20100502019.jpg

9. Yoshihiro Takayama -vs- Jun Akiyama - (Global League '10 - Final) [**]

--- The final wasn't as good as the other Global League matchs on the show which was a shame, but they kept it fairly short and sweet with Takayama using his knees to hurt Akiyama's ribs good! And once the knees started landing it was never really competitive as Takayama started easily getting in the Germans aswell and you know what that means..... that Takayama wins the first Global League!

13:37 of 11:38 - Takayama pinned Akiyama with a German Suplex to win the Global League '10.

COMMENTS: The Global League '10 ends rather well. A good show overal with the Glabal League matches having plenty to offer.

NOAH di COLLOSEO on G+SN - April 14 & 25 & May 2, 2010 - (2 hrs)

April 14, 2010, Osaka Prefectural Gym #2 (1,000 fans)

1. Toshiaki Kawada & Yoshinari Ogawa -vs- Go Shiozaki & Atsushi Aoki [* 3/4]

--- Quite a decent tag with Kawada mixing with the former GHC Champion Shiozaki and beating up little Aoki. Aoki did get his offence against veteran Ogawa trading technical wrestling, but once alone with Kawada he was done like so many other wrestlers before him.....

14:35 of 14:35 - Kawada pinned Aoki with a powerbomb

April 25, 2010, Sapporo Teisen Hall (1,450 fans)

May 2, 2010, Tokyo - Nippon Budokan (11,000 fans)

Ice Ribbon on Samurai TV - May 3, 2010, Tokyo - (3 hrs)

May 3, 2010, Tokyo - Korakuen Hall (895 fans)

1. Minami Hikari & Sayaka Obihiro & Tsukushi -vs- Minori Makiba & Hikaru Shida & Kurumi - (Elimination) [3/4*]

--- The match opens with an all Ice Ribbon spirit match with the two young girls who's been doing exhibition matches all year making their official debuts and are already pinning established Ice Ribbon girls here as Tsukushi managed to eliminate both Makiba & Shida before Kurumi stopped her fellow rookie. But then after a little fight Hikari won the match with the most beautiful move of the match as she bridged like crazy on the suplex to pin Kurumi.

(4:12) - Shida pinned Obihiro after a vertical suplex

(6:12) - Tsukushi pinned Makiba with a forward rolling cradle

(6:38) - Tsukushi pinned Shida with a swinging forward rolling cradle

(7:09) - Kurumi pinned Tsukushi with a front cradle

9:01 of 9:00 - Hikari pinned Kurumi with a Capture Suplex Hold

2. Kyoko Ichiki & Hamuko Hoshi -vs- Masako Takanashi & Chii Tomiya [1/2*]

--- Ichiki back again, but I didn't get too interested in this match with DDT wrestler Masahiro Takanashi wrestling as a girl and young Tomiya being too young. Ichiki did land a nice top rope footstomp before the flying knee came and knocked Tomiya out.

10:10 of 10:09 - Ichiki pinned Tomiya after a Destiny Hammer

3. Mai Ichii -vs- Emi Fujino - (Open Gloves Rules) [1/4*]

--- MMA exhibition and with little to offer except letting Ichii last 2 rounds with an more established fighter.

6:04 of 6:00 - Ichii fought Fujino to a Draw after 2 Rounds

4. Bambi & Munenori Sawa -vs- Makoto & Kota Ibushi [*]

--- Inter-gender tag with guests Sawa and Ibushi taking supporting roles to the ladies who were about equal good/bad. The match had it's moments here and there, but no real flow or anything. It was the highlights like Makoto landing a rolling senton off the top and things like that which made it watchable with Sawa and Ibushi adding their experience to keep it together. Makoto might have been close but she ended up being beat up by Bambi who landed a hard Shining headkick on a standing Makoto.

11:19 of 11:18 - Bambi pinned Makoto after a Shining headkick

5. Natsuki*Taiyo © -vs- Tsukasa Fujimoto - (NEO High Speed Title) [* 3/4]

--- Fujimoto has been a surprise this year. She can still be an awkward amateur at times and it was like that here too with her embarrissingly mis-calculating a dropkick early on and quite a few times not having the right timing on some of the spots she does. But with that said she does have some qualities that can be draged out of her by a pro like Natsuki. And they did pull off a shakey, but exciting bout with some really near upsets along the way. Thankfully they didn't let her win, but they made the match good enough to make fans think that she could. But when the top rope moonsault Shiranui landed it was all over for the Ice Ribbon girl.

16:45 of 16:44 - Natsuki pinned Fujimoto after a moonsaulting Shianui to retain the NEO High Speed Title in her 2nd defence.

6. Nanae Takahashi & Kazumi Shimouma © -vs- GENTARO & Keita Yano -vs- Jun Kasai & Miyako Matsumoto - (Ice Ribbon International Tag Title; Triangle Tornado Hardcore Match) [**]

--- One hell of a mixed-up tag title match where the men were men slapping the bitches around arrogantly. GENTARO showed himself from his best side doing that. There was some revenge of that later on in the match where he was slapped like a bitch by the girls. And they teased a Korakuen Hall balcony dive! No, not Jun Kasai. His partner the ballerina girl! Nah, that was never going to happen in a million years and they used that Kasai was the one being tranfered to the table on the floor as an excuse not to do it. She couldn't splash her own partner, you know. That would be just silly. They did get her to do a table splash leeping off the staircase up in the cheapseats! Thats not bad in itself considering she got limited bumping experience. And she even Spider German'ed Yano onto a chair! She went even more hardcore going on attack with a frekin' ladder! And after Kasai had landed the reverse Tiger Driver on Shimouma then Matsumoto could land her ballerina bodypress and we had new tag champs of Ice Ribbon! The match was surprisingly entertaining!

19:54 of 19:53 - Matsumoto pinned Shimouma after the Mama Mia splash. Kasai & Matsumoto become the Ice Ribbon International Tag Champions.

7. Riho © -vs- Emi Sakura - (ICEX60 Title) [* 1/2]

--- I have a feeling Riho is the youngest person to main event the Korakuen Hall. 12 years old and as champion defending the Ice Ribbon title for people under 60kg. And Sakura had to slim down 10kg to get this match and looking in better shape she's been in years. The match naturally had plenty of faults with it and it takes a differnt kind of mindset to take a 12 year old seriously. But if you're about to put that aside it was a fairly enjoyable bout where Sakura made sure Riho looked good and got a great deal of the offence. Including landing a couple of Somato double-knees for the champs biggest moments! But this was the return of Sakura in shape and she took the Ice Ribbon crown with her trusted old La Magistral! After the match all the wrestlers came out to greet the fans. On a side note, it was kind of annoying listening to the one guy in the crowd who kept chanting like a retarted sheep during the show, but I guess it's that kind of people joshi puroresu attract these days.

15:50 of 15:49 - Sakura pinned Riho with a La Magistral to become the ICEX60 Champion.

COMMENTS: Special show. Special interest, I guess. Ice Ribbon can sparkle at times, but one has to have an open mind to enjoy it.

NJPW on PPV - May 3, 2010, Fukuoka - (4 hrs)

May 3, 2010, Fukuoka International Center (6,000 fans)

1. Tiger Mask & Akira & Tomoaki Honma -vs- Takashi Iizuka & Tomohiro Ishii & Gedo [* 1/4]

--- A easy fun opener. Nothing of importance which is the norm. Tiger Mask gets to be the star of the bout winning with the Destroy Suplex Hold. Funniest bits was Iizuka being a heel throwing chairs at cameramen.

8:40 of 7:56 - Tiger Mask pinned Gedo with the Destroy Suplex Hold

2. Manabu Nakanishi -vs- King Fale [3/4*]

--- Basic heavyweight striking. A little too forced with Nakanishi letting the new guy show what he was good for. It got a little too repetitive with all the elbows and slaps. And Nakanishi wasn't getting too hurt and easily made the to guy from Tonga submit by sending him to Argentina.

8:15 of 8:15 - Nakanishi made Fale submit to a Argentine backbreaker

3. Negro Casas © -vs- Jushin Liger - (CMLL Middleweight Title) [**]

--- Cool bout with Negro Casas showing himself as a true ring general. The match had a good foundtation of becoming something great, but it ended up being just a throw-away junior heavyweight bout for some CMLL belt without the satifying climax part even if Liger went through his finishers until he had Casas beat with the Thesz Press.

10:04 of 10:04 - Liger pinned Casas with the Air Scissors Drop to become the CMLL Middleweight Champion.

4. Yujiro & Tetsuya Naito © -vs- Yuji Nagata & Wataru Inoue -vs- Giant Bernard & Karl Anderson - (IWGP Tag Title; 3-Way) [** 1/4]

--- 3-way again for the IWGP Tag Title as No Limit defends against Blue Justice and Bad Intentions. Like with so many 3-ways it was very mechanical as in 'now its my turn and now its yours' kind of way with everyone showcasing in turn. They got some life into it with some cool dives from Naito, Anderson Gun Stunning almost everyone and generally with something happening all the time. And in the end sadly they ended No Limits reign as the top tag team and gave the belt to Inoue who speared Anderson for the win! Strange to thing about that this is only Nagata's 2nd time as IWGP Tag Champion and it wasn't really for him either. It was apart of their desperat push of Inoue this prize really was for.

12:21 of 12:20 - Inoue pinned Anderson after a spear. Nagata & Inoue become the 56th IWGP Tag Champions.

5. Hirooki Goto -vs- Masato Tanaka [** 1/2]

--- Goto is struugling to establish himself with the heavyweight elite in Japan always failing the big ones like the all his IWGP Title challenges, or when facing top outside guys like NOAH's Sugiura and his current main foe Zero-One's Tanaka. This wasn't hardcore rules so Tanaka is a tiny bit out of his element, but he can give as good as he takes in strong style matches aswell. Not that he totally ignored the chance of using a table to weaken Goto. He threw one at him hitting Goto's head good and then he powerbombed him through to almost win by count out. The rest of the match followed a similar formula not being shy about using finishers again and again. And Goto took a couple of real hard Sliding D's. Not piped versions this time like in their February match, but still very effective. But Goto got in his finishers too and then a half-logic, but tame ending as both were counted down. A double KO..... Goto still can't break the ceiling with the top guys.

13:36 of 13:41 - Goto wrestled Tanaka to a Double KO

6. Naomichi Marufuji © -vs- Ryusuke Taguchi - (IWGP Junior Title) [** 3/4]

--- Marufuji continued his way through the New Japan junior heavyweight division. This time it's former IWGP Junior Champion Taguchi wanting his second reign with the belt. And like most of Marufuji's big matches since his return, it was a big match formula and delivered at a solid level. Not as good as the other defences against Liger, Kanemoto or Devitt, but still very solid for a Taguchi singles bout! A little slow and play full in the early building, but once the bigger moves started landing it got exciting. People started thinking the NOAH wrestler was going to win as the 20-min call was made and he started setting up the Tiger Frosion, but thats when Taguchi had his strongest part in the match landing a Premium Bridge, fishermans buster and most of all a Kudo Driver! No win for Taguchi, but he was close. Instead Marufuji got his Tiger Frosion and thats when you know a fight is over.....

22:40 of 22:40 - Marufuji pinned Taguchi after the Tiger Frosion to retain the IWGP Junior Title in his 4th defence.

7. Toru Yano -vs- Hiroshi Tanahashi [** 1/4]

--- Another singles match between these two. A side-road feud for Tanahashi while others focus on the heavyweight title scene for a while. And it was time to make Yano get some credibility with him coming with a couple of new and more dangerous moves, something he doesn't have much of from before. The first one was kind of a reversed powerslam driver and the second was a modified Emerald Frosion of sorts which was the one he defeated the former multi-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion with! At least they are establishing something with this.

17:01 of 16:57 - Yano pinned Tanahashi after a modified Emerald Frosion

8. Shinsuke Nakamura © -vs- Togi Makabe - (IWGP Title) [***]

--- Nakamura had had a strong run as champion this time defending it successfully against the top guys in New Japan and outsiders, but now he's come to Togi Makabe whois become one of the top faces in the company with his brawler style. One thing I felt lacked was the super intensity for a big match, but otherwise there was little to complain about except a couple of half-misses on Nakamura's apron kneedrop and Makane not getting all the power needed for the shoulder breaker. Because it was Nakamura's shoulder that bacame the story toward the end as he hurt it on Makabe's turnbuckle powerslam. And Nakamura sold it like a king! And at that point he was helpless with Makabe destroying him with all Nakamura could do was try and survive and hope for a miracle. A miracle that never came as this was the chance Makabe needed and took when landing a awesome King Kong kneedrop from the top rope with Nakamura about to get up driving him back down to the mat with authority! And Togi looked like a real champion with the IWGP Heavyweight belt around his waste! It's been a slow groth over the last few years, but it has payed off. Makabe is a star now.

18:18 of 18:18 - Makabe pinned Nakamura after a top rope kneedrop to become the 54th IWGP Champion.

COMMENTS: Overall a very solid big show with a card thats was very familiar to the other big shows lately. The main event was the show stealer of course, but the other matches had it's moments too, especially the Marufuji defence.

BJPW on COMM - May 4, 2010, Yokohama - (3 1/4 hrs)

May 4, 2010, Yokohama Bunka Gym (3,354 fans)

1. Daikokubo Benkei & Onryo & Ryuichi Kawakami -vs- Kikutaro & Shinobu & Atsushi Ohashi [3/4*]

--- Benkei can hardly move at all these days, so Ohashi almost had to hold up the leg for the crab for him. They still gave to old big guy the win with a elbow drop. But it was just a silly opening match anyway with some fun happening.

10:53 of 10:52 - Benkei pinned Ohashi after a elbow drop

2. Manami Toyota & Marcela & Ariya -vs- Aja Kong & Gami & Bullfight Sora [*]

--- Joshi action! WAVE style comedy mostly and fairly rough Aja vs Toyota stuff. But it was mostly the cow this match ended on with her fucking up everything and then got beat by the Mexican import Marcela. The most interesting about this one was Ariya who doesn't wrestle much anymore, but made a rare appearence here for this Big Japan anniversary show.

13:46 of 13:45 - Marcela made Sora submit to a Marcela Special

3. Kamikaze & Masayoshi Motegi & Kazuhiko Matsuzaki -vs- Mens Teioh & Takumi Tsukamoto & Kazuki Hashimoto [* 1/4]

--- A guest match with old heros of the promotion like current Z-1 wrestler Kamikaze and semi-retired old dudes Motegi and Matsuzaki. Teioh was in charge of guiding the young guys of Big Japan as they'd at least get some offence on their way to making the guests feel welcome. And former Big Japan Heavyweight Champion Kamikaze beat the lowest ranked guy in the company.

16:50 of 16:48 - Kamikaze pinned Tsukamoto after a moonsault

4. Abdullah Kobayashi & Shuji Ishikawa & Kankuro Hoshino -vs- Takashi Sasaki & Necro Butcher & Mototsugu Shimizu - (Hardcore) [* 3/4]

--- Necro Butcher! Fighting Kobayashi! Sweet..... The rest of the match however was very average hardcore wrestling. It really was those two who brought it and made it fun. That headbutt portion really put a smile on my face. And it was Abby who won, but only over jobber to everyone Shimizu.

15:52 of 15:53 - Kobayashi pinned Shimizu after a top rope chaired elbow drop

5. Shadow WX & The Winger & Minoru Fujita -vs- Tajiri & Ryuji Yamakawa & Yuichi Taniguchi [* 1/2]

--- Why they had to add Fujita and Taniguchi to the mix I don't know. It was enough with the other old guys as those teams used to feud over the Big Japan Tag Title back when it was first created. Tajiri & Yamakawa are two time champs and Shadow WX & Winger were the ones who beat them for it the second time. And the match wasn't going to be explosive. More a trip down memorylane with a special referee taking most of the attention fighting with Shadows team. It still didn't stop Shadow from trashing the washed-up Yamakawa.

15:36 of 15:35 - Shadow pinned Yamakawa after a brainbuster

6. Jun Kasai & Nick Gage & DJ Hyde -vs- Jaki Numazawa & Isami Kodaka & Masashi Takeda - (Barbed Wire Death Match) [**]

--- A match honoring the old infamous CZW feud bringing in CZW guys Gage & Hyde to team with Kasai who had to fight his own regular tag partner in this one. Well, they did find time for some kissing too in this ugly violent 6-man tag with barbed wire boards and a razor cross along with whatever they could find to hurt each other with. Most of what the foreigners added was size, but they felt very much at home in this trash environment. In the end Isami was completly destroyed with Kasai using the razor cross on the finishing touches.

17:53 of 17:51 - Kasai pinned Isami after a top rope Razor Cross bodypress

20100504024.jpg

7. Daisuke Sekimoto & Yoshito Sasaki -vs- Genichiro Tenyru & Yuji Okabayashi [** 1/4]

--- Tenryu in Big Japan! And this was for the tallented wrestling guys in Big Japan having the honor of wrestling with the legendary Tenryu! No other reason. And they got to do that a lot. Especially Sekimoto having a Sasaki vs Kobashi life chop exchange with the old super dude chopping each other red. Tenryu at the age of 60 can still go and earned his money here having a lot of ring time and giving the Big Japan guys a chance to shine. Okabayashi was there for some more hard impact moments and did well with that, but in reality he was there more to do the job then anything else and Sekimoto lariated the guy in brutal way to beat him.

16:30 of 16:27 - Sekimoto pinned Okabayashi after a lariat

20100504008.jpg

8. Yuko Miyamoto © -vs- Ryuji Ito - (BJPW Death Match Title; Light Tubes Cage Death Match) [** 3/4]

--- Didn't feel like the greatest death match on earth, but they did do a large portion of big moves and execution was very strong considering Ito was involved. There was whole bunch of top rope moves, a couple off the cage, several Fire Thunder piledrivers on objects and about 200 light tubes getting crushed! All you need for your hardcore entertainment! It trully was a war on who could take the deadliest beating. And Ito looked in much better shape then usual and even managed to land the big move from high-up this time (remember when he missed a few years agow breaking both his arms) as he landed the Dragon Splash off the top of the cage to dethrone Miyamoto as the Death Match Champion, a belt he'd held for one and a half years. This starts Ito's 4th reign as death match king.

20:44 of 20:44 - Ito pinned Miyamoto after a bodypress off the top of the cage to become the 25th BJPW Death Match Champion.

COMMENTS: Most of the show was mainly tribute matches to celebrate the 15 years the promotion has survived and not exactly super matches. The final two and especially the main even was good.
