Painful to watch promo for AWA's WrestleRock PPV
Â
Â
Clearly the apex of the industry. If not all human achievement.
-
Thank Christ GTA didn't win.
Â
Incidentally, can't remember (or be bothered finding) all my nominations, but as I recall Sonic 3 and Knuckles was #1, closely followed by Broken Sword 1, Monkey Island 2, Jet Set Radio and Rocket Knight Adventures.
-
Note that I'm talking about the Mega Drive versions of these at all times, because as Just Me pointed out, they're VERY distinct from Game Gear and Master System editions. Those are decent enough 8-bit platformers, but hardly classics.
Sonic 2, Sonic Chaos, and Triple Trouble, granted. But don't you be dissing my Sonic 1 on the Master System. You'll be sneering on the other side of your 16-bit fanboy face when it comes in at #1.
Â
Fantastic game that I frequently enthuse about. Jungle Zone, innit.
Â
Also, yeah, pleased to see Sonic 2 make the cut. Less so to see it rank twenty places above S3K, which is infinitely superior.
Â
Re: Sonic CD -- It was initially conceived as an enhanced port of Sonic 2 - with the Mega Drive, Master System/Game Gear and Mega CD versions all at one point intended to be the same game - but ultimately released as seperate product, almost a full year later, after developing into a different (and much better) variety of game altogether. Hence the Sonic 1 sprites, super peel out, gimped spin-dash etc. etc.

Surprised so many thought I was accusing Mario 64 of aging badly based on its visuals. That'd have been horribly unfair on my part, no?
Â
Nah, I was talking gameplay-wise. 90% of missions are dull collect-a-thons; level design is in places very, very bland; bosses are pathetic; and it's generally just difficult to return to after experiencing sublime Galaxy. Don't get me wrong, I still like the game a lot - primarily for nostalgia and its indeniable charms - but the whole thing feels ever-increasingly like an extended tech demo. The PS1 platformers may have been nowhere near as innovative or daring, but they hold up far better in retrospect.
Â
If you can think of a single player platformer/adventure experience as fun, challenging and intelligent as this that has been released since then I'd love to hear it.Â
I'd say Psychonauts, but comparing it to Mario 64 really, really fails to do Psychonauts justice.

On-the-fly thoughts --
Â
If I tried explaining why Donkey Kong Country is the most overrated series ever I'd just get bored.
Â
Can't believe I forgot to nominate Lemmings.
Â
Nice to see S3K made the list - 2D perfection. Surprised Sonic 1 (and I'd imagine 2) received more nominations, though.
Â
Oblivion, Fallout 3, Broken Sword... *approves*
Â
Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64 have both aged horrendously.
Â
SMW twenty places above SMB3? Fuck. Right. Off.
Â
Splendid work, anyhow. Look forward to the top ten.
-
Beneath a Steel Sky, and Shenmue.
-
Funniest -- Vince getting Rick-rolled.
Â
Greatest -- Vince getting Rick-rolled.
-
Chris Jericho.
-
Sonic Unleashed, 360 version.
Â
I'm honestly dumbstruck by how good this game was. Okay, so it's not a fantastic game, but a good Sonic game. The "main" levels are the best since the Mega Drive era, and the Werehog levels are as fun as they look shit, i.e. very fun.
Â
On the downside, the final boss couldn't be worse if Sonic Team took it in turns to rape your mum, shoot your dad and loudly patronise your inability to do anything other than SUCK AND DIE.
Â
But, the Sonic levels are good, so, yeah.
Â
FUCK I EVEN LIKE THE GAY VOCAL THEME THIS TIME.
Â
Overall, a fun experience, but for die-hards only. However, it's worth pointing out anyone who is still a die-hard Sonic fan at this point is either patient, insane or has a high tolerance for pain.

Yes, because no wrestlers died before ECW formed. It just seems to be that the legacy of ECW is coming home to roost. 1) Wrestlers lauded for working hurt, so not to let down the fans.2) Wrestlers use of drugs not only tolerated but applauded by the fans3) Unprotected chairshots to the head being cheered (and safer chairshots being booed)4) Wrestlers that treat the wrestling business as a business are castigated. Wrestlers that give their life (literally in some cases) to the business are held up as something to be proud of. 5) The promotion becoming a bigger star than any of the wrestlers.

Haha, that scene entered my head earlier...
Me and my mate still quote that!
Really? I'm surprised!
Possibly because nobody remembers it.Nearly 100 pages now and no one's mentioned the Edge & Christian version of his theme song "Chris Benoit is here and he's really mad".....
-
I think you'd forgive people now of all times for posting a spoiler accidentally.
Cheers for the vengeance spoiler btw.NOW ITS changed to a john Cena win
-
They've replaced Benoit's image on the Raw page with one of Cena at Vengeance, not on the front page though.Yet.
-
No they haven't.An update on all the stuff being removed from WWE.com, shows that they have removed the In memory of pic for Benoit from the Raw page, and replaced it with a pic of In memory for McMahon.
-
Just thought I'd point out a lot of the "tribute" stuff seems to be disappearing off the front page of WWE.com.
-
Good call.I'm sure they'll do the ten-bell salute and whatnot, but I'd rather they refrain from any further "tributes" until the full details surrounding the deaths are released.

I don't know. Why would Chris want to kill Daniel? For the record, I'm not pointing the blame at either.
Doesn't add up. Why would nancy want to kill Daniel?i know i'm rumour mongering BUT stole this from dvdr board which stole it from TMZ.com, could be completely false, so i dont think anybody should take this as fact, though it will give the people in denial something to cling to...
From TMZ.com464. My second cousin is an officer with GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigations) and what he's heard in his circle is that Chirs Benoit's wife killed their son Daniel, called Chris and told him to rush home because of an emergency which is why he missed last Sunday's Vengeance PPV. Upon arriving home Benoit killed his wife in a rage for the death of his son and then killed himself Monday morning. His wife's body was found in the master bedroom, strangled with the cord from an alarm clock. The son's body was found in his room appearantly suffocated with a garbage bag. Chris then wrote a suicide note explaining what had happened, apologized to his family, his other children (from a seperate relationship), and his fans. He then fasioned a slip-knot noose from from rope taken from the garage and hung himself from the ballaster in the foyer of his suburban Atlanta home.also, http://www.11alive.com/video/player.aspx?aid=74565&bw=
