  1. As someone a bit out the loop. Are the Magic looking good this year?

I bought NBA 2k last when they first signed up Jordan, its was outstanding. Having to pass to Jordan in almost every exchange against the 80's Celtics was in retrospect a right laugh.

How do we get the thread title changed?

Nah, Magic are definitely not a playoff team this year. I can see them tanking, although in retrospect, they definitely came out on the positive end of the whole Dwight Howard saga!

Rose has looked like he hasn't lost a single step in terms of explosiveness in the pre-season so far. I'm VERY excited for the opening night game against the Heat, especially after watching this:

  2. Anyone go the OKC/76ers game in Manchester? I won a 2K comp for tickets and got to be on the court, meet a few NBA legends, get some free stuff and attend the game. Great night and a pleasure to be able to watch KD throw down a few dunks.

  3. I hope to at least see the NBA reach the heights that the NFL has in the UK. Loads of folk I work with are in love with American Football and it all seems to have came from nowhere. i think the NBA is much more accessible than the NFL, so hopefully it continues to grow here too.

  4. I'm hoping for a good TV deal this season for the NBA. I enjoyed ESPN's coverage last season and I liked that we got the direct US feed for the games. The Sky primetime Sunday games were great too.

I've heard that Sky have signed a new deal with the NBA, but no details have been announced. For what it's worth, next week's Manchester game between OKC and the 76ers is live on BT Sport as well, so perhaps that's a sign of things to come?

I'm pretty sure that BT have got some form of TV deal as they have been including clips of the NBA on their coming soon adverts all summer long and the fact they are showing the Manchester game next week.

I guess Sky won't start their coverage until the Nets/Hawks game at the 02 in January like last season and then have the Sunday primetime games fill the vacant spot left behind in the schedule after the NFL season ends.

The only way to get the most comprehensive coverage is through League Pass though which has been improved this season to include a premium offering which includes a 24 hour stream of NBA TV direct from the States as well as the option to listen to either home or away commentary.

Sky have dropped the BBL for this season which has been picked up for a 1 hour weekly highlights show on British Eurosport which will feature highlights from the 30 live games been shown through the BBL own website.

No news on Euroleague TV deal but the Perform Group have put a online package together featuring a variety of FIBA world tournament at various age grades as various basketball leagues around the world including the CBA as well as including Euroleague and Eurocup.

Yeah, if we get a split deal between BT and Sky, I'd be happy. As mentioned, I loved that ESPN gave us the direct US feed last time including the TNT halftime shows etc. Hopefully BT do the same. I reckon Sky will start their coverage sooner, but won't really push it hard until the London game.

I've already signed up to league pass. Loved it last season, but always do like a TV deal in place so that we get the halftime shows etc as well.

It's a shame that Sky have dropped the BBL, but they never really did get behind the league at all. I'm a big BBL fan and attend all of the Glasgow Rocks games (the Emirates Arena is fantastic) and would love to see it pished harder here. Basketball is an ideal sport for this country, given our crap weather and if we only just gave a little more media attention to our own league, the game would probably grow.

  6. Thought I'd start a thread for NBA chat. In my opinion, it's the best US sport by a mile and I know we have quite a few fans on here.

EDIT: The 2015-16 is now over and the Cleveland Cavaliers are your champions! Here's an awesome recap of the Finals:

I'll update this original post as the 2016-17 season gets closer!

  7. I just watched the latest episode of Dexter season 4. Holy shit, that was one of the best hours of television ever!

I was constantly screaming at Dexter to get home. Trinity's entire family are seriously messed up. Those kids too....damn creepy! I really didn't expect the reveal at the end either. Great stuff! John Lithgow has been fantastic this season. His line in this most recent episode whilst sitting at the dinner table - "Shut up, cunt" was one of the most chilling things ever.

    Roll on next week!

  8. I'm actually just getting into Dexter. I bought season 1 and I'm 7 episodes in. Loving it so far! I thought Michael C. Hall was fantastic in Six Feet Under so it's great to see him back on tv again. I just wish I'd started watching Dexter ages ago! I'll pick up season 2 as soon as it comes out on dvd. I'm also downloading season 3 at the moment so that as soon as I'm done with 2 I can go straight on to the next one.

Just started watching the new season of 24. Was going to download it, but I'll just watch it at Sky one pace. It means I can watch it in HD too.

After I'm done with Dexter I've got the complete boxset of the Wire to start on. I never watched that either. I got the feeling it would be one of those shows that would be better on dvd, being able to watch at your own pace so I decided to wait. I'm looking forward to it.

Started watching the new season of Nip Tuck too. Downloading it every week from the US. It's pure trash tv, but it's good fun.

I've also got Entourage to start watching. My girlfriend got me the first 3 seasons for christmas, but I've not started it yet

  9. I got 24: The Game yesterday on the PS2 from gameplay. I played it for quite a while last night and I'm impressed so far. The game, however isn't in real time like some have said. For example, the game starts at 6am and after the first mission, the clock might be at 06:27 even if the mission only takes you ten minutes to do.However, there are a lot of missions, some of which are extremely difficult. It's cool getting to play as characters like Tony, Michelle and Chase too. The game takes place between seasons 2 and 3 and so far has answered a lot of questions many viewers had, such as how Chase, Chloe and Kim ended up at CTU.I'm enjoying the game so far and will play some more later when I get home from uni.Looking forward to The Godfather next week too!

  10. Got 'Awakenings' with Robert DeNiro and Robin Williams to watch next.

good film, its one of the forgotten classics (i dont anyone who's seen it other than me)...most inriguing thing about it is the condition of the patients im the film is a real medical condition, its fucking weird.
Yeah I've heard a lot about it. I'm in my honours year of psychology at university and one of my lecturers has been recommending the film to us. I'll most likely watch it tonight.
  11. Garden State - I had been meaning to see this film for a long time now and I finally got round to buying it the other day. I watched it yesterday and I must say, it's been a long long time since a film has stuck with me like this one has. One of the best films I've seen in a long time and definitely one I'll go back to again. Highest possible recommendation from me.

Pleasantville - I'm not a fan of either Toby Macguire or Reese Witherspoon, but I really liked this one. At first glance it seems like just another standard comedy, but it's actually a really interesting commentary on life in the 50's and how change affects people in different ways. Some really amusing moments and good performances all round. Highly recommended.
