Will it though? Considering how they've managed to drag stuff out so far and people still seem willing to pay and buy more versions etc, I imagine they're pretty much guaranteed to do the same with the next one. There's clearly an appetite for it. They'd have to really fuck it up to ruin such a successful formula.

Agree with that, whether its great or just good, Im sure they will be coasting along on it for many years to come.

  2. Am I the only one who isnt that impressed by the trailer?

It looks pretty good, but its just the usual CGI cutscene montage (Like nearly every game trailer now) that gives no idea what gameplay will look like.

I was as big a GTA fan as anyone, right from the original on PS1 (My mate's brother worked on that one, so it was on my radar early on) and Vice City was always my favourite, so this should be right up my street, but its been so long since GTA 5 that any enthusiasm I could have had has worn out.

Back in the 'old' GTA days, Rockstar seemed so far ahead of everyone, but they've given everyone else a chance to catch up now, so it will have to be something insanely special to carry them through another decade of microtransactions.

Dont get me wrong, I'll be buying it for sure, but I'm just not as hyped as I should be for it. Maybe I'm just too old for it now..

Wonder what the deal is with the Wolfpac face paint? Was it a nice money making gimmick where him and Big Sexy (and maybe others) would charge a shit tonne for a 'rare' group pixture with the Wolfpac guys?

Maybe he just forgot the facepaint, and his missus loaned him her lipstick, like Diane Ladd in Wild at Heart:

With the first film it’s because he’s chuffed to be left alone and it’s not until he’s trapped in his house by burglars would he consider it, but the phones in his house are out.

He also thinks he's wanted by the police after stealing a toothbrush

  5. Not the same, my point is that this is supposed to be set in the same world we have seen so much of, and that doesnt happen in...

But in Wandavision, she literally created her own little world, where not only we were watching, but there was actually people within the show watching it on TVs, and Wanda was recreating this world based on the TV shows she grew up watching, where that happened.

  6. Spoiler

I'll take your point on the secret identity stuff, but I still think that in reality she'd be getting hauled off by the authorities for extensive testing. After all, everyone was trying to recreate the super soldier formula for decades, and it seems like all youd need from her is a blood tranfusion for some perfect super powers (I know Bruce said that its because of their genetics, but they wouldnt know that yet)

Im standing my ground on the 4th wall stuff though, its out of place here. Your making reference to the comics, and you are right about that, but this is a different medium and different format. We are supposed to believe this is the same world as the past 14 years of characters and films, it is not a 'new' story.

Doesnt matter if She-Hulk did it first in the comics. Deadpool did it first on screen here. I cannot get emotionally invested in a character or story if it any point they can turn around and directly tell me none of it matters, and this isnt real. I feel that way about deadpool too, but it seems like its own little world (Despite the X-Men connection) and more of a comedy, so I dont care so much there. To be honest I didnt think Deadpool was very good anyway. If they are hell bent on doing such talking to the audience moments, then the way Team Thor and Team Darryl did it worked much better and funnier.

I really do want to like this, but so far it just seems like treading old ground. Even in the marvel world, the empowered woman story was better in Agent Carter, and the lawyers dealing with superheroes stuff was already done in Jessica Jones. I could probably forgive all this if it was just presented as a straight comedy, but it wasnt very funny.

Hopefully Im too quick to jusge though, and it picks up next week.

  7. Im still not decided on She-Hulk yet to be honest...

    Spoiler

Was quite looking forward to watching it, as I know nothing of the character, and it seems more connected to the films than some of the other recent streaming output, however.... I thought the CG on She-Hulk looked really dodgy. In contrast to DEF above, I thought Hulk looked fine.

I think that what the problem is, is that Hulk couldnt really be real. People dont look like that, and so a CG representation of that works, but with She-Hulk, she just looked like a big green woman, no ridiculous muscles or body shape, and as such the CG doesnt look right, especially her hair. I genuinely think they should have done this Lou Ferrigno style, and had a different muscular actress painted green being She-Hulk. If she needed to look bigger then use some perspective tricks. Practical effects would have worked so much better I think. CG on her face if you need/want to

Also, the 4th wall breaks annoyed me. Ive heard since that its a thing from the comics, but that doesnt mean it needs shoehorned in. Weve already established the supposed Marvel world, and that it's 'real', so who is she talking to? Leave that stuff to Deadpool.

Also, the ending annoyed me. Her cousin spent years on the run hiding his identity, presumably to avoid getting chopped up by the US army and avoid killing innocents. But she drops her identity at the drop of a hat, just because someone burst through the wall like the Kool-Aid man from Family Guy. I dont think she was even after She-Hulk as no-one is supposed to know who she is, or that she even exists.

I dont know who the woman that burst in is either, apart from her being on T4, but she looked like the young bucks sister to me, look at this outfit:

I might be too quick to judge though, and next week it will be revealed that she was too hasty showing off her true self, but Im not sure, they seemed quite keen to show that she was 'better' and more savvy than Bruce Banner.

Didnt want to be so negative though, Ill keep watching.

One more thing, I really want Abomination to recreate this at some point:

Is it better than Avengers? (if you've played that) .. I know that got a huge slating and I think it made people a little wary about GOTG. I imagine it's more fun simply because the characters are more entertaining anyway.

Havent played them myself, but Ive watched my son playing through both games. GOTG seems much better, and he seems to have enjoyed it more (Despite being really into the Avengers characters). Hes played right through GOTG over the last few days and finished it yesterday.

GOTG seems a much more linear story rather than missions, which seems better to me, and doesnt have all the nonsense about playing online, buying outfits etc.

Or if it does, it much less obvious about it.

As do I. Total random coincidence.

One more here for the EKFF

Im not a football fan, and havent fully watched a game in years.

Watched this though as its a big game, and I found it boring from start to end.

Its nice to see Scotland not get leathered, but I almost would have preferred it if we were, at least it would have been something to talk about.

Bit of a geeky one but TIL that Firmware is called that because it exists between hardware and software

    Hard

    Soft

    Should have called it semi-ware

    And her bank account!

I'm just being a cynical cunt, I'm sure she's lovely.

A couple of years ago we got our son to send her a letter asking for some books for a school Christmas raffle, she sent him a really nice letter back. Couldn't send any books as she says she gives spares to a local school or something, but she sent some signed stickers which I put on some of her books, which did well at raising some money for the school.

In comparison, he also sent one to David Walliams, and got a standard 'fan club' type corporate letter back (at least it was a response though)

    She really does seem nice

Also, haven't seen it mentioned, but 'The troll' is a good one

Does anyone here own or has anyone owned a 32X?

I’ve flirted with buying one for years, mainly because I want to play Knuckles Chaotix.

I’m well aware that the game library for it is tiny, but if I were to buy one, what games would you recommend (outside of, y’know, the one I just mentioned)? Or would you advise me to avoid it completely?

I had one back in the day. I still enjoy playing the games from it now for nostalgia sake, but if you don't have that connection to it, I wouldn't bother getting one now.

Certainly try before you buy through emulation. Games I had back then were Virtua Racing Deluxe, Virtua Fighter, Star Wars Arcade, Doom and FIFA. They were all great for the time, and would recommend trying any of those. Can't say I ever really got on with Chaotix.

I'm fully expecting absolute carnage. If anyone shows covid symptoms, they have to be immediately sent home with a test kit. But everyone gets coughs and sniffles during the first few weeks of the school year (the old "freshers flu" thing where people get sick after mixing with a ton of new people all at once) so countless people will be getting sent home one after the other for the first few weeks. It'll be mayhem.

This is exactly what is happening in my kids Primary right now.

My son has a sniffle just now, so weve kept him off and ordered a kit. I know he hasnt got the virus, but cant send him in with people thinking he's ill. When you call up to report him being off, they ask about them being tested, perfectly understandable for the staff. This means weve also had to keep his brother and sister off too. From what I understand, theres a lot of others doing the same (Although I hear many have actually gone to a testing centre rather than ordered - In retrospect I should have done that).

Guidance/communication from the school hasnt been great, but whatever way its done the first few weeks will be like this.

(Actually, another: where's the name "Kona" Crush come from? I never heard him referred to as that, and the first time I ever even knew about that name was when I first joined here.)

It was because he was billed as being from Kona in Hawaii, and they played that into the character

He went overboard with the Hawaiin accent and bright colours, and had him doing his vignettes on the beach, etc, like this one

I wonder how much it cost to maintain that ranch he lived in. Its pretty much a big theme park on his land. You have to have people there all the time to sort out any mishap with the rides. I just imagine him and Bubbles getting stuck up the Farris Wheel like Richie and Eddie if there was no people to work all the rides and trains and shit.

Maybe getting 'stuck' up there was the idea...
