  1. bAzTNM Posted Yesterday, 03:37 PM A memorably crap match with Sid vs The Nightstalker. From a Clash of the Champions event in 1990..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhdmUW6NHPA

When was WCW shown on Sky Sports 1??
There was a period where "classics" were shown and it was nearly all early WCW footage. I can't remember the reason for this, but I think it was that one of the regular WWE shows was scrapped so they had to fill contractual obligations one way or another.
  2. Thanks for that bAzTNM. Totally unacceptable if he was really left laying there for several minutes. Watching the clip back again today, I've realised that not only is it the brutality of the landing, but its also the smug prick taunting at the end that really angers me. Have to feel bad for Mictlan, although he does seem to be moving his arms at the end so hopefully its not a total disaster for his future.

To be fair,as the guy was interfering, he wouldn't check on the guy after he'd done that to him would he? It'd totally spoil it.
Thinking about it now, as a fan, he has actually made me really really hate him by taunting the crowd and hot caring about the guy he just destroyed. So I guess, as you say, he has done his job of playing the crowd (well at least me) amazingly. Your comment has also reminded me of when Kevin Nash messed up his leg on Raw, and Buh-Buh Ray bent down to help him, despite being his opponent. I imagine he got a lot of flack for breaking his character on TV. Its an interesting issue though about injuries and remaining in character though I feel.

  4. After Shane Douglas threw down the NWA title and declared himself ECW champion, did Scorpio get on the mic? From the clips I've seen he clearly asks Shane for microphone, but Shane tosses it down and plays to the crowd. It would then seem that Scorpio begins to go for the mic. Just wondering if anyone knows if he did indeed speak, and if so, what on earth did he say following what had just happened?

  5. I recently purchased Brian Pillman: Loose Cannon and on the cover it says. Features commentary by Stone Cold Steve Austin. I've looked on all the matches but cant seem to find the bit that turns the Austin commentary on. Anyone any ideas?

I've concluded that they used the word "commentary" to describe Austin's comments during the main segment. Like you, all the extra matches on my disks have no visible option to change commentary like they normally do. Just my outcome though, someone may have another answer.
  6. What was the purpose of Shawn Michaels being accompanied by Jose Lothario in 1996? He obviously wasn't a mouthpeice or anything like that, so did he have any real reason (other than being the mentor) for being at ringside?

Jose Lothario - who was Shawn's trainer - came into it because Shawn was supposedly re-dedicating his career to winning the WWF Title, meaning he went back to his original trainer to prepare him for the biggest test of his life. Lothario was an on-screen reminder of that. Why he continued to accompany him after he won the belt is beyond me.
Ah fair play for spelling out the first bit for me. Cheers for that
  7. I've just read on wikipedia that Vince McMahon paid for the funeral of Bam Bam Bigelow. Does anyone know if that is true? Struck me as a real class act if it did indeed happen.

Yeah I read that too. Apparently Bam Bam had two funerals (the selfish cunt!!!) and Vince paid for one of them!
Not sure about the two funerals, but either pwinsider or Figure Four Weekly wrote about there being a fund raiser to finance Bam Bam's funeral. Vince after hearing this, paid for the funeral. God knows if he paid for the whole thing, but he certainly chipped in a large sum.
Cheers for that. That has really raised my opinion on Vince. Top notch stuff
  8. Tracey Smothers wrestles a bear. Happened in 1989. Bizarre.
That was making me feel really sad......until the bear countered the side headlock! Good find, I've heard about this kind of things before, but never seen proper footage. Obviously I didn't like what I saw, but it was pretty interesting to see. Strange to see how wrestling has moved on!
  9. Austin came up with it on a message he left on Christian's answer phone. Basically Austin was driving along and was bored so phoned Christian and got his machine, so he started describing what he saw. He said something like 'I just drove by a signpost... What? I said a signpost' and then continued working on it from there. He tells that story on the 'What?' DVD.

Ah nice one - thanks to the other guy who chipped in too
  10. Well I personally side with the view that someone would have to be incredibly desperate to work the streets to earn money.

Not all work the streets though. Some set themselves up in a nice flat, advertise on a flashy website and charge a premium for their services, as well as selling extras through their websites like videos and pictures. There are those who do it purely because they have no other option and will let you go bareback for another fiver as it'll buy them a bit more heroin, and there are those who do it consciously because they know they can make more money shagging 5 blokes a week in their nice flat than working in an office 9-5.In between the two ends of the spectrum there are plenty of shades of grey.
Bloody good point, and one that I hadn't considered.
  11. This thread has gone full circle. It started on the first few pages with people saying that these poor girls are only doing such a "job" as they are incredibly desperate, and no one with a choice would ever do it. However, now people are arguing with someone because apparently prostitutes come from all walks of life, and perform the role to acheive academic qualifications. Which is it?

Both, obviously. Some prostitutes need to fund their crack habit, some make shitloads of money and use it to buy stuff that they want, some see it as a way to make enough money to do something worthwhile with their lives. Why does it have to be so clear cut?
Well I personally side with the view that someone would have to be incredibly desperate to work the streets to earn money. I just can't get my head around the possibility of someone actually making the conscious choice to have that lifestyle of being picked up and used by strangers purely to make extra money. I could understand going into pornography as a way to use your body to obtain a large income, but prostitution is much harsher. That is just my mindset though, I don't know anyone who's been in this position to get their view on their personal motivations.
  12. Did you have proof that the Russian girl was lying before you made your snide remark?

Given that this particular Russian girl isn't taking part in this discussion I don't see why an accusation of lying is that bad. Moreover it is a wider point. But anyway, the point is that an Escort may well claim to be doing it for a few months to earn the cash to study. This may, or may not, be true. Given that there is a lot of drug use, criminal connections and illegal migration associated with prostitues it may be that the "student story" is just an oft repeated lie to make her job seem much nicer than the reality.

I am not sure, but I imagine he just said it tongue-in-cheek, much like the "The Stripper Myth" is joked about, by suggesting that girls are only do such things to pay for their education. Maybe I am wrong though.

Its the same as the stripper myth - "they all say they do it to pay for college." It sounds nice and wholesome when put like that.
So basically, you've decided that strippers don't really do it to pay for their educations, this Russian is probably lying, all based on nothing? Tell how you come to be such an expert on prostitues and stippers? You certainly seem to know how little you can trust their motivations.
