  1. Cardiff was really quiet tonight. There were a few attempted burglaries on the outskirts of town but I think that's because they've put all police resources into the city centre to tackle the almost non-existent threat of a full scale riot.

  2. Kids going on the rampage does fit the description, a place not being looted doesn't matter in all this, smashed windows still counts as criminal damage regardless. I don't want it too kick off in Cardiff, but I sense it could do. There is alot of idiots that walk around at this time of night.

That happens almost every night though. You seem to be implying that there's shit going down when there isn't. I don't see why you want to give the city a bad name? I was in Cardiff earlier on and although the police were everywhere, it was way quieter than usual.

  3. JD Sports down Cardiff Bay has been smashed up within the last hour..

The front window was smashed by a couple of kids and the police chased them off. It wasn't looted. I don't think that fits the description of a riot. You tried spreading rumours in this thread about Cardiff last night. Are you eager for your hometown to get involved or something?

  4. Does anyone live somewhere where there haven't been rumours of riots? There are now rumours of the shit going down where I live, but that honestly seems a bit stupid.

Exactly, I've seen some really retarded rumours going around on Facebook. I think people around really love bullshitting.

  5. Shocking. It usually kicks off in Grangetown anyway so if anything happens it wont be a surprise, thanks for that though.

Nah, I think they've just heightened police presence and sent helicopters over Cardiff, Newport and Bristol. Nothing serious.

  6. Private schools are a joke. Their top students are no brighter than students at most state schools.

Realistically, that's just not supported by the evidence, is it? I mean, anecdotally you might not think so, but exam results, university submissions and average lifetime wages suggest otherwise, I'd imagine.

What has that got to do with intelligence and ability? Private schools and certain universities are just networking centres for the upper middle class. Knowledge is available to everyone through the internet. If you want to learn about something, you can do it yourself. Education doesn't have to be top-down anymore.

Private schools just keep snobbery and class bullshit alive.

I wish the UK was more technocratic like parts of Northern Europe. In certain scientific and engineering professions, you'll rise to the top no matter what your background is (as long as you're good enough).

  8. It was a dodgy decision but Ireland are blowing things out of proportion. That try wasn't the sole reason they lost the game, Ireland were pretty shit and Wales just about deserved the win.

But still, I had a good time drinking with the Irish fans in Cardiff and really want them to beat England :)

  9. Wales v Scotland was a dreadful mess, and any Welsh supporter thinking this some sort of new dawn is setting themselves up for a big fall. Scotland were utterly, utterly hopeless and Wales not a massive amount better.

I disagree with that. Wales were great the first 20mins (Hook at 10 allowed Roberts to come into his own) but lost all momentum when Bradley Davies and Lee Byrne went off... the game became really disjointed after that. Scotland were poor but Wales kept their heads and didn't concede a lot. Our backrow had a really good game, especially Lydiate and Ryan Jones. I was expecting Craig Mitchell to be shit but he had a good game. Wales' set piece was solid.

You're right in saying that this isn't a new dawn but it was a good win and an important confidence boost. I think Wales are good enough to beat Italy (although their pack could demolish us) and Ireland at home but France and England are a step above this year.
