  1. Yep Max is Jos' son. Won again today. I've only in the last year got into the junior formula but glad I did because what we're seeing emerging in Jos is a truly once in a decade talent.

I'm ojut at a mate's bday tomorrow but looking forward to coming back to skim the BTCC.

Red Bull ring is a fun track and looks great to go to for a festival like weekend.

WTCC racing on the full Nurburgring next year is insane (but great).

  2. I was wary of the hype until today but now it's clear - Max Verstappen will be F1 Champion. It's not online yet but in race 3 at Spa in European F3 he pulled three of the most insanely good moves in a row I've ever seen. He won three for three in the most competitive junior formula and is only 16. If there was more testing I'd suggest someone takes a massive risk and tries to promote him straight to F1. As it is he will surely get sponsorship from one of the big F1 teams and go to Renault 3.5 next year.

EDIT: Lynn did well in GP3 yesterday and is well worth his Red Bull sponsorship. He got unfair criticism for his race craft in race 2 given he was hit from behind and suffered a puncture. Jann Mardenborough showed great pace but made a mistake - I suspect this late on he will find his level as a top class sports car driver although it remains to be seen whether that will be in GT or LMP1. Any how good times for young drivers making their way.

  3. Audi didn't show their pace in qualifying by using worn tires. Shaping up to be an amazing race.

If there any motorsport tragics out there the old Group C cars are in action shortly on eurosport.

  4. I feel a bit sorry for Foley - his last (third autobio) WWE book highlighted it - he was racking up multiple concussions and suffering pretty severe effects. He's essentially described being depressed many times in posts and if anyone has Benoit type brain damage it will be him. The good thing is he obviously has a great family who really love him. I wouldn't get on his case because I think he's ill.

  5. Yeah it's been mostly Fin for about 5 years now, maybe more. Each to their own, but I like his writing style. Even when I don't agree with his opinions, I appreciate that they aren't wishy washy opinions and he explains his reasoning. I've read whole books by authors (non wrestling) where I don't agree with their position, but regardless respect it and can understand where thy are coming from.

I really like Powerslam for these reasons and more so recently - I hope it continues for years to come.

  6. But seriously, there's no way that Vince is selling his company to AMC or anybody else while he is still breathing

I agree on Vince because of the control issue and the company is till run in a completely odd way that third parties with controlling interrst would be appalled by (see farting on head story and receipt on air to Ross). But wasn't it interesting that Stephanie McMahon's sold enough stock to buy property shortly before the network announcement - now that could have been a cash flow issue but if you were super confident on the network? I wonder how the numbers are going given they are still doing the free week trial - and if the technology falls over in WM and Summerslam week what will happen to the stock? A lot of risk there for a capitalisation of $2.5bn.

  7. I ate a medium rare pork chop last night - it was bloody marvelous. Was aiming for medium all over but even using the oven I couldn't get an evan cook and was well done on one side and medium rare on the bone. I still remember having lunch on my own here years ago on way to JFK and they asked me whether I minded my pork chop pink - what a revelation.

I also ate this on Monday - it was massive and came with chips. I had to cancel my afternoon plans and have a rest on the sofa.

  8. JR is in Vegas for a meeting with and apparently a free holiday courtesy of UFC. Don't see Dana trying to fart on his head somehow?

Las Vegas. UFC 171 on PPV. Sic em @JohnyHendricks in Dallas Thx UFC for hospitality. Great hospitality. Love @ufc Thx @danawhite

    3:14 AM - 13 Mar 2014

  9. I'm not connecting with why JBL was ripping on JR?

Sorry - didn't want to cut and paste the whole thing - JBL is Vince's 'voice' ((through scripting and headset messages) on commentary and Lawler provided the set up line (asking JBL to compare Vince and Ross as commentators) which means it was scripted although whether by Vince or JBL it's not known.

JR's such a spineless fat fuck, he'd crawl back if they asked him to.

Maybe although his new deals with various people sound perfect for him having an easy life - WWE contract clauses aren't worth the paper they're written on unless they paid a settlement to Ross (likely). And it also makes Vince the most insecure man in the world burying someone who he apparently doesn't think anything of! It's going to be really interesting to see if they get more or less paranoid and mental when Vince dies.

But in this instance it's just a story that's funny and makes Vince look like an idiot.

  10. There's an amazing story in the wrestling observer this week about why JBL was ripping on Jim Ross last week. Anyhow the story (Jim Ross told) was about Vince shitting himself whilst trying fart on Gerald Brisco at the Gorilla position and then having to go out and do a segment whilst the cameras shot round the sight of his trousers (reported by TMZ here). Anyhow the additional detail Meltzer add was (beyond that this lay behind JBL ripping on Ross's announcing):

The way the story was told at the time is when he came back, he must have changed clothes, and was holding the loaded old pants. He tried to chase Brisco down with to make him vomit, and HHH grabbed Brisco to hold him in place so he couldn't get away, but Brisco used one of his old amateur moves and reversed and escaped.

    A number of thoughts:

    - What the hell will Jim Ross let slip if he ever gets properly pissed off with McMahon? That would be one hell of an autobiography.

    - Got to love Brisco getting the better of HHH. Reminds me of the story of HHH slagging off Angle in 2003-4 as not looking like a wrestler and Brisco suggesting HHH prove Angle wasn't a wrestler.

  11. Thanks. So Angle is in the same position as Hogan and can never pass a WWE in-ring medical. I know the wrestling media is a crock but someone should call him on that next time he suggests he wants to wrestle WWe superstars again. I hope he finds some peace but that looks unlikely.

  12. Did anyone see Sunday Brunch with Kurt Angle? The wrestling observer said he confirmed he has almost complete numbness in one hand. A second mostly rhetorical question is what the hell TNA are doing letting him in the ring if that's the case?!

  13. Leaving arguments about what people are allowed to do in the WWE ring aside - actually yes I would. As well as the problems in the main events since the middle of the year the excitement factor has gone from the support card.

I've gone from buying the big 4 plus every other SBO PPV to buying nothing since Summerslam with no intention of buying anything except Royal Rumble/WM and probably only WM. If the undercard of PPVs had excitement I'm an easy win from the fan base that stuck through WWF and WCW's efforts pre Austin/NWO because they served up the occasional gem.

  14. I agree Hardcore Holly's book was fun although he came across as a dick still.

The book on Stampede was great fun.

Carrie Dunn's book on british wrestling is a really fun book on the british wrestling scene and very well written.

  15. go home, twelve grand, you're drunk.

Never thought i'd ever see the day when Davey Richards was thought of as a remedy to plainness and dullness.

I suppose he would be an improvement on Curtis Axel, but praise can't really come any fainter than that.

I watched the latest comments with a mixture of amusement and confusion - I'd never seen the guy before and he had a fantastic match when I saw him; both wrestlers working body parts mixed in with the sort of back and forth that reminded me of Finlay and Regal. And before your ask everything was sold and his arm being worked led to the snap arm bar finish. I don't follow RoH or wherever else he works but yes absolutely this sort of thing in the opening match on WWE PPVs would entice me and my money back to WWE/Sky box office rather than going to a British wrestling event for the first time since I was 14!

It's about being able to fit your act to your audience - it remains to be seen how Edwards and Richards cope with this.

Well as above I seem to have encountered a version of this wrestler just last month that is unknown to the indie wrestling 'experts' on here so you never know!

  16. I'm hoping to hear tell of Davey Richards litter-picking down by the embankment.

I'd quite like to see more of him wrestling - he had one of the best matches I've ever seen live at the York Hall last month. It would be lovely to see something that fresh and alive on a WWE show undercard as opposed to the plain dull formula stuff they throw out at the moment.

  17. When the hell will they do a New York PPV again? Been to that place 8 times, missed a ppv card by a week last year, been to msg twice (and best ever sports experience) and want to go back. Book something at MSG before it gets made into a station, go back to the new Jay Z arena, do anything - I love being bazaro world and going to NY.
