  1. It is worth mentioning that if you let your subscription lapse you lose ALL of the games you've downloaded through the service, if you renew it subsequently you would only have access to the 10 games currently on offer.

Don't think that's true. Games you've downloaded and kept on your hard drive should work again, and if you've deleted any you can normally download them again through your download history. I did that with burnout paradise and it worked.

  2. When you subscribe there's a variety of PS3, PSN and Vita games to download for free, and they usually replace a few each month. You can play them until your subscription expires and you don't renew, at which point you can't play them again until you re-subscribe. If you signed up for PS+ at the moment you can download Little Big Planet 2, Sleeping Dogs, Vanquish, InFamous 2, Motorstorm Apocalypse plus a few others for free. Next month they are making Mass Effect 3, Dead or Alive 5 and Joe Danger 2 available for free (replacing a few of the current games).

I didn't know this. And then I checked how much a year.

  3. Having finished Far Cry 3 (excellent) and Assassins Creed 3 (decent but not the best AC game), thought I'd try and give Bioshock another go to see if I'd want to buy Infinite when it comes out. I'd played a bit of it a couple of years ago, but for some reason didn't continue on with it. Don't know why because it's brilliant. Started to get a bit samey towards the end but am glad I went back to it.

I went straight from finishing that to starting Bioshock 2, which is pretty good as well. Some nice new locations and characters, but dealing with brutes and big sisters is getting a little tiring, although hiding behind a big daddy when a big sister shows up and letting them battle it out is pretty cool.

Aside from that and the aforementioned games is there anything else i need to get? Not really into RPG type games but aside from that i'm happy to try anything.

EDIT: Also i'm curious about this PSN+ account people are talking about. If i pay for this membership does it allow me to download games to the HDD for free? Or does it just allow you access to pay for them like Xbox Live ?

In terms of exclusives to try, you've mentioned Uncharted (get all three of them), other than that try God of War III and Heavy Rain (it's a bit of a marmite game though, but your wife might like it as well). If you didn't have a PS2 (or even if you did) try some of the HD collections like the ICO & Shadow of the Colossus one and the God of War collections.

  4. Don't buy the 12gb version, it really isn't worth it.

    Why's that?

It has been ill thought out, if you intend on playing more than one game, you need a bigger hard-drive. With the system updates, disc installs and add-ons, you constantly have to delete game installs and if you want to play them again, re-install.

On some discs you don't even get the chance to quit the install, for one game I played on, I had to wait 15 minutes for the install to do and it used up 5gb alone. I deleted the install to free up space and had to endure the wait time again just to play it the next time round.

I've since bought an external hard drive to offset this problem but its an absolute joke that I've had to resort to this method.

The PS3 is a wonderful piece of kit but its implementation is so wrong. Sony got it so wrong.

The 12gb version wasn't and isn't aimed at proper gamers though. It's aimed at people who want a blu-ray player and be able to watch iplayer, netflix et al on their TV but can also play the odd game as well if they want to, especially as some big games like Fifa don't require an install at all.

  5. For android users, Vice City is back up again on the Play store.

Seems they've skirted around the previous issue by having you download all the files at the same time rather than download the apk from the store and then installing the additional files when you first start up the game like with GTA III and Max Payne.

  6. If you've forgotton your password just go through the sign in menu to get them to email you your password. Then you will be able to change your card details.

Or create a new PS Store account.

Cheers man. I'll give that a go. you recommend the Walking Dead series then?

If you try to log in on the playstation.com website there's also an option to change your password if you've forgotten it.

I'd also echo La Goosh's feeling about The Walking Dead. It's excellent.

  7. Either ASDA have insider knowledge or they're just taking a stab in the dark, but according to there website the release date is 17th May 2013.

You never know, but I'd tend to suspect the latter. That's purely because the 17th is a Friday, and just like with IV a game this big will likely have a simultaneous worldwide release, which is usually always on the day it gets released in America (Tuesday).

  8. Must add to the love for the final PES demo. Didn't think the first demo was too different from last year but after this demo it seems a lot better and apart from a few minor things, which might just be because it's a demo, it definitely seems on the way back to how it used to be. Actually tempted to preorder it now.

  9. Max Payne 3

Despite being a huge fan of the first two I only pre-ordered on Wednesday after reading the early reviews and have been playing it since yesterday and it's pretty good.

The action is fairly slick and good fun, the bullet time camera view when you shoot the last enemy in an area is a nice touch as well. Although I liked the comic book presentation of the previous games the presentation is very good and what you'd expect from a Rockstar game.

The writing definitely isn't as good as the other two games and at times falls into the "lets say the c-word to show we're edgy" school of writing, and though it's co-written by Dan Houser it's not as good as Sam Lake's previous efforts. The checkpoints can be pretty poor at times as well and despite early on being told to explore areas for clues you can sometimes fail because in some areas you're not supposed to look around and are supposed to get on with it (Max and other characters always hint at you to hurry up no matter what so it can be a bit of a gamble whether you'll fail for being slow or if you can explore a bit). The only other problem I've found so far, and maybe it's just me. is that I find I'm not using bullet time that regularly as I find it's often more effective to play the game as a cover-shooter to progress through areas rather than dying fairly often using previous tactics, which isn't really what Max Payne's all about.

I'm not at the end yet so my view may change but so far I do agree with the game getting a lot of 7 or 8 out of ten reviews as it's a good game that's worth buying and is bound to make a lot of people's top ten lists for the year (including mine most likely) but unlike the first two games, and other recent Rockstar releases at this time of year, it probably won't go down as a classic or be talked about as much in years to come.

  10. It looks fantastic.

Los Santos was just a town though so it looks like we're heading back to San Andreas again. Unless they are making a much smaller tighter game this time round.

By the looks of it, the only things shown in the trailer seemed to be from Los Santos plus the countryside surrounding it. So in San Andreas terms similar to most of the bottom half of the map, including Mount Chilliad by the looks of things.

The plane at the end was interesting though. Might just mean that flying planes is back again but could hint at being able to travel elsewhere. Weren't there rumours about three playable characters or something? Maybe it'll turn out one lives in each of the three cities and will be revealed in trailers later on, meaning that there will be the whole of San Andreas again.

  11. Rockstar are releasing Max Payne 3 in feburary. so i dont think they would release two games in such a quick succession

and it wont be coming out jun-august as nothing comes out then so september seems about right

2-3 months is still a reasonable gap, as I doubt it'll take most people that long to finish the game. Perhaps that's why Max Payne is earlier in the year than L.A. Noire and Red Dead, to make room for GTA V.

Before it was delayed, GTA IV was due out roughly seven months after the debut trailer, which would put GTA V as likely being released in late May/early-mid June if they're following the same sort of schedule.

A feature on IGN at the moment about some 'analysts' claiming GTAV will set the trend by being download only. The analysts in question must be fucking retarded then, Rockstar are complete mongs to do something like that.

I'd love to be a game analyst. It seems you get paid to either make things up or state the obvious. Can't see GTA V being download only as Microsoft would blow a gasket, with a main feature of the 360, the 4gb version in particular, being that you can play games off discs without the need to install them. Seeing as Microsoft paid/loaned a large sum of money to get the EFLC DLC as a timed exclusive, I can't see Rockstar/Take 2 being stupid enough to annoy them like that. Not to mention that having recently downloaded GTA IV from steam, the download was over 15gb. I can only imagine that GTA V would need much more room than that and so wouldn't be suitable for most peoples broadband connections/download limits, which is why games like the Uncharted series don't appear of the PSN store for download.

  12. If you're a PC gamer, Steam now has the complete set of GTA, from 1 through Episodes from Liberty City (minus the ...Stories games that weren't on PC) for
  13. NBA 2K11.

    It's just glorious.

It's the best sports game ever made, I've played it non stop for the past 2 months now and I'm still not bored of it, the presentation, the commentary, the game modes, my player, Michael Fucking Jordan Challenge mode. I seriously can't wait for 12 in October, but I'll be playing this until the day the new one drops. If there's any sports fans out there bored with FIFA or just want a new game to play for a month or two, I cannot recommend this highly enough. <3

It is very good but I must admit that so far I've only played one proper match (the one at the start with Jordan's Bulls, which I won with a last second buzzer beating three) as I've mostly been addicted to the my player mode. Currently halfway through my first season. Was drafted in the second round by the Knicks and I'm now their starting point guard and look like an early favourite for rookie of the year. The only thing I wish is that my team mates were better at scoring as I rarely get more than a couple of assists as they miss most of the open jumpers I give them.

  14. PM sent. Thought I'd have trouble thinking of a full ten, but it ended up being fairly easy.

Really? I reckon if I took a whole day I could have reeled off about 7000 and still had time for beans on toast and a kip.

The trouble I found was mainly thinking of people I really dislike as opposed to just dislike. Thankfully in the end thinking about the people I really dislike reminded me about others and enabled me to think of more and more people that I thought were worthy of inclusion in the list.

  15. Kim Dickens, 45

Recently watched the first episode of Treme, which she was in. She was also Joanie Stubbs in Deadwood.

  16. I'm quite liking Deadly Premonition overall. It just keeps pulling me back to it, despite it's many shortcomings.

Reading Triple A's review I seem to like most of what he disliked about the game and vice versa. I really find the the nightmare sequences quite tedious and can't wait until they're over. Getting some of the infinite weapons has helped in terms of getting through them a lot easier. The investigation parts around the town are my favourite parts. Have only had two chase sequences so far and they are quite annoying. Was the one you were talking about Triple A the one SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

in the lumbermill place? Or are there worse ones to come? I'm only on chapter 12.

I'm not finding the poor visuals to be that distracting, I've actually become quite used to them. The odd voice acting (including parts where they've obviously had to fill in bits that they didn't record audio for or have just left the test voices in and forgot to record them again when they have the main voice actors in), animation and graphics just add to the quirky charm I think and if they were at a normal 360 level the game would lose it's charm and just become a poor game.

A few things I've found to improve the long driving sequences/nightmare parts are SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

to get the radio from George Woodman via his evening quest from 1-2 onwards, which really helps as you can fast travel to places you have visited since getting it and some before. Getting York's car repaired via the Junkyard quests is also quite a good idea as it's faster and it's condition doesn't degrade, though the handling is even worse than normal. Also, the wrench from the Quint/Becky quest(s) is a good weapon that kills most enemies in one hit and never degrades. The magnum from the bones quest (after collecting all of the bones before you start the quest) via Forrest Kasen is good too.

    .

I'd definitely recommend people at least try the game.

  17. Gears of War. Played most of the first act in short bursts as found it good but kind of samey up until the first Berserker fight but since then it has been very enjoyable and I've played it in much longer stints. I've liked some of the variety in the game, like avoiding the kryll in act 2, though I've found the game does obviously suffer from the usual cover-shooter problems (covering when you want to roll, rolling when you want to cover, covering in the open rather than the safe side you wanted to hide behind, squad members taking cover beside you and knocking you out of cover, etc). Have got Gears 2 waiitng so am interested to see what that's like. Haven't finished it yet though as I'm stuck on the final boss.

I've tried using the torque bow with either the lancer or sniper rifle but can't seem to finish Raam off before I'm killed. I usually do better when Dom is still around as he distracts Raam but then he comes after me and I'm killed on the move (by his gun or the kryll if I accidently stray off in to an unlit area), though sometimes I seem to be randomly killed but I don't see what kills me, though I guess it's either kryll (though I'm sure I'm in the light) or another reaver attack.

Fifa 11. Found that Ultimate Team was becoming a bit tedious so went back to career mode. Found in League One that the fatigue issue was quite bad in the second half of the season, as I got to the quarter finals of the FA Cup, semi-finals of the League Cup and won the JPT so was usually playing two games a week so had to rotate my squad quite often, usually after every game. Got promoted to the Championship and found the schedule to be a lot kinder on my players. I deliberately threw my first round League Cup game to ease any congestion and now (in December) I've generally only been playing a game a week which means that my first choice team are usually fully recovered for every game. My VP is also getting a lot better as well, and is currently leading the scoring charts.

New Vegas, its good fun apart from the freezing and some terrible bugs, missions not being registered as done, conversations with a follower kicking in about 5 hours after they should so it makes no sense and the like.

Got killed the first time but the second time I used a stealth boy and managed to reach the computer thing undetected. On the way back I think I must have breathed on one of the sentry bots and they detected me, but luckily I was near the door so I just ran for it and made it out.
