  1. I think G will take the "promoting his lair of filth" line as a compliment

Indeed, I think 'Lair of Filth' is also a superb tagline  I'm chuffed to bits I got a mention, granted I tend to spend a bit of time on here helping out the good peeps with techy related shite problem's more so then actually posting about wrestling and off-topic shit, I contribute when I feel I can or be bothered if no one else has pretty much said what I was gonna post, so yeah I know MY posts were worthwhile and my high post count is well deserved :smug::sly: I never actually knew Mo and Lister had such a lil fued going, does this come from just accusing each other of been troll's or is it deeper I wonder?Either way I always enjoy Lister posts there a damn good read and he knows a lot of stuff, Mo I've enjoyed your posts in the past too, but over the last month some of your posts have irritated me, (mainly about the MMA debate) and now this whole Lister fued, if you don't like him cool no problems, but at least take it to PM's.I have nothing at all against you Mo, just stop turning heel and go back the way it was :(
  2. Recap of Marc Mero, Penny Durham (the widow of Johnny Grunge), and Brian Alvarez & Finlay on CNN with Nancy Grace.

Last nights CNN Headline News with Nancy Grace was a very big feature on pro-wrestling and steroids. On her show tonight Nancy had special guests Marc Mero, Penny Durham (the widow of Johnny Grunge), and Brian Alvarez from figurefouronline.com. And as a very, very special guest, representing the WWE Dave Finlay AKA Fit Finlay or Finlay. For most of the night Finlay and Mero just went at everything that was talked about.

At the top of the show, Nancy announced that there were some new developments in the case against Dr. Phil Astin III. According to reports that had been passed along to CNN and Nancy Grace, a secret copy room was found in the offices of Dr. Astin. In this copy room, 68 boxes of files and record pertaining to former clients some of which are now dead. It is believed that a good portion of those names are wrestlers. It has been confirmed that at least on of the names in those boxes is Johnny Grunge of ECW’s THE PUBLIC ENEMY. But according to sources Brian Alvarez of figurefouronline.com, the list of wrestlers in the 68 boxes where not just name of WWE wrestlers but of Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling stars as well.

It was at this point that Nancy’s conversation with Alvarez turned solely to the deaths of the entire Benoit family. As a side note the funeral for Nancy and Daniel Benoit will take place today Saturday July 14th at one o’clock in Daytona Beach, FL. According to reports that he had received, Alvarez reported that just before her death, Nancy Benoit wanted to leave Chris Benoit. However the only confirmed item as far as marital problems that the Benoits had came in 2003 when Nancy filed for divorce from Chris, and received a restraining order against him. “Now that doesn’t rule out that they talked about their marital status…” said Brian Alvarez. He said that there was nothing completely concrete and official.

At one point in the evening Nancy got on the discussion of the toxicology report. She said that she was so confused and couldn’t understand why it is taking so long to publish the findings of the toxicology report. She said that when she was an attorney they had the results of a toxicology report within three days. Alvarez had this to say, “Well it probably is taking so long because they are testing not only for steroids, but Benoits blood alcohol level, and other street drugs.

Alvarez told the viewers his findings as far as what the drug test policy in the WWE is. He said that if thy find a steroid ratio of 4:1 that is an automatic pass. If you have a ratio of 10:1 or higher, it’s an automatic failure. If your ratio is between 10:1 and 4:1 you are questioned as it is possible for the body to produce enough testosterone and steroids to make your ratio that high. However the loophole is that if you have a letter from your doctor saying that you need a certain medication in order to compete they wave everything off.

Nancy then brought on a Doctor of whom she asked if steroid traces can be found in hair and nails and fibers. The answer was yes, but it must be found within two weeks or you will lose the sample, and it must be a very high dose. She also asked how long roids are in your system. The response was 12-24 hours.

At this point in time, Marc Mero was brought onto the show. Nancy got right to the hard questions. She asked him how these wrestlers can try to make their negative test into a positive test without the testers knowing. He replied by saying that when he was in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) they would squirt Visine into the sample which would work to clear up the sample altogether. This was when Nancy’s show got interesting. She brought on Dace Finlay aka Fit Finlay and Finlay. She asked him form his personal experience what the screening process is like. He had this to say, “The screening process is very comprehensive. They are very strict in the way that they go about screening. You must give your sample in front of all the testers…. WCW tried to do this and failed…. It was within the last year and a half that they got this very comprehensive test…. If you do have the high ratio, and if you have a prescription that could be causing it, you must bring a letter from your doctor to give to Dr. Black (the man in charge of all the tests) and he will determine if you really do need this prescription or if it a frivolous prescription…. It is all a surprise test…. You are watched very carefully…. We just had to take a test last week.” Finlay then went on to explain how the test is always changing to try to stay ahead of the changes that are being made in steroids and hiding them. It was at this point that Brian Alvarez was asked to talk about the information that he had found as far as the WWE steroid policy. (The ratios mentioned earlier) Finlay had this to say in response, “You’ve never stepped foot in a WWE ring, you’ve never even walked through those doors at the WWE. II do it everyday. You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

In his defense Alvarez said that all of his information had come from the lawyer from the WWE, Jeremy McDivit.

Penny Durham, the widow of Johnny Grunge, was brought back onto the show. She said that she had to say something that she was going to wait to say till after the funeral, but she just had to say it now. Back in 2003 when Nancy Benoit filled for divorce, she and Penny were talking and Nancy Benoit told Penny that she didn’t want a divorce and that she loved Chris. Nancy told Penny that the only problems they were having were the same ones that all married couples have. Penny was also told that the main problem was that Chris was having trouble dealing with not being able to see his other kids from his other marriage. Penny then said that we’ll never know the truth of what happened in the Benoit home. She said that she spoke to Chris’s family and to Nancy’s family and they all said that this was very unchararistic of Chris. They still don’t think that he could’ve done that.

Nancy Grace turned the focus at this point to Penny’s story, and what her little five year old son, Chase Durham, said on Johnny Grunges birthday. (He said to his mom, “Mommy can we go to heaven and visit daddy on his birthday?”) Penny told Nancy Grace that the reason that they had this new picture of Grunge was because she had to take it from Chase. But when she did, she had to tell him not to crumple it up. But he didn’t really care about that, because what he said next to his mom was very touching. “But mom, I’m trying to give daddy a hug.”

(Note: at this point the show went to a commercial and they played a clip of Penny on the show the other day. In the clip she says and I quote “This is my chance to speak out against these doctors. These doctors are nothing more than suburbanite drug dealers.”)

Nancy Grace announced that congressional hearings into professional wrestling may come as soon as Sept.

Nancy asked Marc Mero if he regrets being this lighting rod for slander from the current wrestlers in the WWE, and his response was no. He said that if what he’s doing can save lives, and that he would do this till the day he dies. “And I want to make one thing abundantly clear, I DO NOT, hate the wrestling business. I love it.”

In response Finlay had about the same reaction as that he had with Brian Alvarez. He said to Mero, “You’re not part of this business anymore. You haven’t been for eight years.” (My opinion: This next part was a slap in the face of Penny Durham) “We make enough money to afford health insurance and retirement benefits. If you’re going to go spend hundreds of dollars on a wrist watch, then obviously you don’t know how to manage your money, something that my parents taught me when I was very young.”

A question was posed by a caller, “The feds found numerous boxes of steroids in the Benoit home, and I would like to know if he was selling them to other wrestlers.” To this Finlay had this to say, “I know nothing about Benoit selling drugs to other wrestlers. I can tell you this. I knew Chris Benoit very well and this was not the Benoit that I knew. My heart and prayers go out to the families of all involved. I fell that this all points back to the WWE and all of wrestling in that we’re getting a bad brake because of these rouge doctors. And it’s not just wrestlers. Its football players and baseball players as well. You cannot blame us. Our job is to entertain the fans.”

Mero interjected that he feels that this is not just a problem in the WWE but in the entire industry. Mero and Finlay got into a major argument, which was stopped by Nancy Grace who just went off on Finlay and Marc Mero.

Nancy said that she doesn’t blame the WWE for steroid problems. She says that these gentlemen try to stay in the best shape that they possibly can to keep up the appearance with the fans and so they can stay in this business.

To end the show Penny Durham said that she agrees with Finlay in that people make the choice themselves. But steroid and painkiller use is very prudent in this business. “The pills are very easy to get to and then all the more easier to take.”

(Side note: The other day I reported that the prosecutors were going to file a superseding indictment. A superseding indictment is an indictment that over rules and nullifies the previous one.

  3. Well I watched Cube Zero the other night on ''Zone Horror'' I'd never seen any of the Cube films so I thought I'd watch. And I rather enjoyed it, so much infact I ended up getting and watching ''Cube'' and ''Cube 2: Hypercube''. Although ''Cube 2'' was just awful, I mean jesus what a pile of shit it was.

Can't believe I left it so long to see these films, but yeah 2 out of the 3 I thought were damn decent viewing.

  4. Chill Factor is f'n stupid

Yeah I'll admit it does have some half arsed moments, deffo not a film to be taken seriously but its good to watch now and again I feel. Not my best Cuba movie no way, Boys In The Hood is one of my favs.Regarding ''Sunshine'' after seeing the trailer it looked like a film I would be intrested in seeing but as some have said some odd reviews have not been so good to it. One of my mates said he saw the first 20 mins and hated it, but he's a cunt, well he likes to many over the top hyped up shit movies and hollywood bollocks remakes, I like a movie to also tell a story not just watch everything get blown the fuck up.But the reviews on here seem very positive and am now back on track to wanting to see this again, so thanks. Also wanna see ''28 weeks later'' but the trailer has kinda put me off it a little hopefully its better then I hope. Quite enjoyed the first one very much.
  5. I watched Barbershop 2 last night. Very, very enjoyable. Ice Cube is probably my favourite actor and I love Cedric too. Excellent scenario, beautifully shot and with good story telling. Loved it.

What? I liked it, thought it was great. I actually saw Beauty Shop last week, which is the spin-off with Queen Latifah. Thought that was really enjoyable too.
I saw the first Barbershop and saw about half the second one till something came up and I missed it. I had wondered if Beauty Shop was part of the films as I saw about 5 mins of it on SKY the other day.Anyway last film I saw was Chill Factorhttp://imdb.com/title/tt0163579/Really ''cool'' movie staring Cuba Gooding Jr and Skeet Ulrich (main guy from Jericho) I never knew Skeet at the first time wacthing this movie years back but now do so I enjoyed the movie even more this time around.Basically ten years ago a scientist (David Paymer) was doing tests on a new bio weapon but in the process accidentally killed off 18 of Peter Firth's army working on the remote island they were testing it on. Anyway since it was Firth's men he got jailed for 10 years. So the the scientist got let off (he did want to help in court but they told him to fuck off, basically he was a good guy).10 years goes by and they army dude wants of course revenge. The scientist still has the bio weapon which Firth wants so goes after him with an elite super fuckin commando gang (Hudson Leick been one of them). Ulrich and Gooding end up with it in a fuckin ice cream truck. They need to get to an army joint before it goes over 50 fahrenheit then ka and boom KABOOM or else loads die same old story but this was a great action fun movie, really enjoyable.
  6. Lance Storm Remember's Mike Awesome

I can’t believe I am writing another tribute commentary about a friend no longer with us. For those of you who have not heard, Mike Awesome (Mike Alfonso) was found dead in his home in Florida, from an apparent suicide, at the age of 42.I first met Mike in 1991 on my first tour of Japan for FMW. Mike was a major star for FMW and a really great guy. He was also part of the original “Team Canada” for FMW teaming with Rick Titan (the fake Razor Ramon from the WWF), Ricky Fuji, and (I believe) Dr. Luther. Mike and I only wrestled once for FMW, in a tag team match me teaming with Chris Jericho and Mike teaming with Horace Bolder (Hogan), but our paths would cross again in ECW, WCW, and WWE.On March 12, 2000 Justin Credible and I regained the ECW Tag Team Titles in a match with Masato Tanaka & Tommy Dreamer, and Raven & Mike Awesome. Mike Awesome is likely best know in ECW for his departure, when he jumped to WCW with the ECW Heavy Weight Title. After a lengthy legal battle he returned to drop the title to Tazz in one of the most unique inter-promotional matches in wrestling history. In that match WCW wrestler Mike awesome defending the ECW World Heavyweight Title against WWF wrestler Tazz, on an ECW show.Mike got a lot of heat for the way he left ECW, but a lot of that was unjustified. The true story is that Mike was owed a significant amount of money from ECW and he refused to sign his contract until he received all money due him. After repeatedly not receiving money promised him Mike accepted an offer from WCW that offered his family financial security. I’m not sure there is anyone in the business that would have done differently.I followed Mike to WCW not too long after that and we again got to work together. We first feuded over the US/Canadian Heavy Weight Title, and then Mike later joined my version of Team Canada. Mike and I were on the verge of capturing the WCW World Tag Team Titles when the WWF purchased WCW. Mike and I teamed together on the final Nitro broadcast. In WWF/WWE Mike and I again worked together. Mike and I were involved in the first WWE vs. WCW match on RAW, where Mike and I teamed to face Kane and Chris Jericho. Mike and I again teamed facing Edge and Christian on the Invasion PPV. Mike didn’t last too long in WWE but our paths crossed again at the ECW Reunion PPV One Night Stand. At the first One Night Stand PPV Mike Awesome had Masato Tanaka stole the show in what was considered by most to be the best match of the night. I talked to Mike a lot that night and was very happy for him. He seemed really happy and content with his life. He talked about how he enjoyed pushing his daughter on the swing in their back yard. He would combine doing that with doing Hindu squats by doing a squat between each push. I also remember discovering that he had been happily married longer than I had, which is a rarity in this business.I have a lot of fond memories of Mike Awesome. I got to work with him in 4 different companies (FMW, ECW, WCW, WWE) as well as wrestling with or against him on 5 PPVs for 3 different companies (ECW, WCW, WWE). In addition to all the time we spend together at work Mike was one of those few guys in the business that I met that I likely would have been friends with had I met him elsewhere in life. Mike shared my love for reading and seemed to be a very happy and loyal family man. If Mike and I had lived in the same City, I’m sure our families would have become very close. I cannot express how surprised and saddened I am to hear about his death. Mike will be very missed, my condolences to his family.Lance EversP.S I hope to add another commentary later in the week sharing some of the more fun times I had with Mike over the years. I seem unable to make this the touching tribute I intended; I guess I am still in a bit of shock over the news.

  7. Anyone been playing ScarFace then ?.I freaking love this game, it starts off from where the film ended when he blows the doors and shouts those oh so famous words ''say hello to my little friend'' but instead of him getting shot to shit he survives and you have to carry on and defeat all the bastards who stormed your mansion, you get away, but the cops take control of your crib. You have to build back up your empire from the beginning. You need your rep back, your money and of course your fuckin ball's.There's some really cool little features in this game, one for example I'll be walking the streets, and there will be just a normal guy walking past and I'll just press a button and you'll just say a real nasty comment ''you wanna fuckin fight, you pussy mother fucker'' :D Its class, any thoughs from those who've played it ?

  8. Does anyone know if next weeks ECW is Live ? because the shedule was meant to be

10/3 show will be live, the 10/10 show will be taped prior to the 10/9 Raw, and the 10/17 show will be taped prior to Smackdown on 10/10.

Because tommorow's ECW is NOT Live as it was taped before Raw tonight, so maybe they changed them around and next weeks will be Live instead of taping it before the 3 hour Raw ?That's how it looks to me, just a simple swap around. Live next week, taped this week.
Of course I know the answer to this now since there was a taping before SD last night :)
