  1. Corrales was right not to fight at a higher weight, and I think Castillo will struggle to get a fight with him again. I think Castillo assumed that Coralles would fight no matter what weight he was, so he could turn up heavier and win.

  2. Calzaghe is out of his fight on July 8th...the show is going ahead though at the Millenium Stadium, i think thats abit odd, alot of people aint gonna wanna go now he's out. Williams/Skelton would have a hard time selling out the CIA let-alone the fucking Millenium Stadium!

13,000 tickets already sold. I think they should get all the big Brit names on such as Kahn, Froch, Woods, and Harrison (if he has managed not to be a drunken cunt by then).
  3. Harrison has wasted his career - He's a 6ft5 guy who can move and he started in one the worst era's in heavyweight history so frankly the fact that he didnt even get near a world title shot is appalling. Before his pro debut he stated that he could already beat Danny Williams - he genuinely believed this and I think he was completely unprepared for how tough the pro game can be.He was too much of an amateur and that hasnt changed - I dont think the fucker has ever grasped that planting your feet when you punch is farly essential if you are going to make a dent in a 17stone man.

He should never have promoted himself, had he been with someone like Maloney he could be far superior to the boxer he is now. He believed the hype every British sports person seems to get and believed he had already prooved himself. Then to Wlad vs Byrd, Wlad via unanimous decision.
  4. Chris Byrd is defending the IBF heavyweight title against Wladimir Klitchko next saturday. If Wlad wins like most predict he will, 3 out of the 4 major world titles will be in the hands white Russians, perhaps marking the start of a new era in heavyweight boxing. However, I've got my money (literally) on Byrd, he lost in their first match, but in the 6 years since Wlad has suffered crushing KO defeats to little known opponents, wheras Byrd hasn't lost since and has been solid, if unspectacular. I reckon he could pull off the upset.

Lyakhovich is Belarusian, but your point remains valid. The Eastern block is producing some dangerous heaveyweight fighters. They are good boxers aswell, entertaining to watch unlike the US HW's such as Ruiz and Toney.
  5. Audley Harrison boxing result last night.

Audley Harrison's career could be over after slumping to a unanimous points decision to America's Dominick Guinn at Rancho Mirage in California.

The 34-year-old Harrison was fighting for the first time since his much-derided defeat by fellow Briton Danny Williams last December.

But it was another dismal showing by Harrison, who only awoke from his slumber at the end of the final round.

Harrison, who won Olympic gold in 2000, has now lost two of his 21 paid fights.

It was also a crossroads fight for former contender Guinn, 30, who had lost three of his last five contests.

    Not a surprising result.

  6. WBO Heavyeweight title match result

Lamon Brewster lost to Lyakhovich last night. Don King has lost two champions in two fights and we are now seeing an Eastern European domination of heavyweight boxing. If Klitchko beats Byrd and Maskaev beats Rahman it would be hillarious.
  7. Do i go to that fight or not?Do i think it will sell out? No... not unless a shit load of cockneys travel up

An odd venue of choice, I feel they will have to have a WBU title match with a mancunian in it and Amir Khan. If Calzaghe cannot sell out MEN then I doubt Skelton/ Williams would.
  8. Super middleweight king Joe Calzaghe wants to fight former three-weight world champion James Toney at Cardiff's Millenium Stadium on 8 July.Calzaghe dismantled Jeff Lacy to add the IBF belt to his WBO title, a fight Toney said Calzaghe was sure to lose."Toney fancied Lacy's chances so I would love to see how he would get on with me," said Calzaghe, 33."He should lose the flab and fight me. But I don't think anyone can drag him out of his training camp at McDonalds."Calzaghe is bristling after Toney told BBC Sport that Lacy would "destroy" Calzaghe at the MEN Arena. Toney also said: "Calzaghe never did anything. He beat Chris Eubank nine years ago, but what has he done since then? He's a joke."Toney, 37, failed to win the WBC heavyweight crown on Saturday after a disappointing draw with Hasim Rahman. He held the IBF middleweight and super middleweight title in the 1990s before moving up to win the cruiserweight crown. However, a fight with Calzaghe is unlikely to happen as Toney scaled 236lb against Rahman and would have to lose almost 70lb to make the super middleweight limit."I would love to kick his behind now because I just missed out on doing it in the '90s when I was coming through," added Calzaghe.Former four-weight world champion Roy Jones Jr, who beat Toney in 1994, has already said he would like to fight Calzaghe.

He is right, Toney is just turning into Butterbean. The fight won't happen, but funny all the same. He should just face Jones, who is still one of boxings biggest draws and a probable win.

Danny Williams and Matt Skelton have agreed to a rematch at Manchester's MEN Arena on 15 July.Commonwealth heavyweight champion Williams took a split decision against British champion Skelton last month. The winner could go on to fight for a world title later this year, according to promoter Frank Warren.Russia's WBA champion Nikolay Valuev, who will defend his title on 3 June, has been touted as the most likely world-title opponent in the past.Williams and Skelton will return to action in separate non-title bouts at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, on 1 April.

May go to this, last fight was good fun, scrappy and dirty but fun.
  9. American welterweight boxer Kevin Payne has died after winning a non-title bout in Indiana on Saturday. The 34-year-old suffered brain injuries following his points victory over Ryan Maraldo in an eight-round contest. After the fight, Payne had to be helped out of the ring and was immediately taken to hospital where he had brain surgery, but died later on Sunday.Payne had a record of 14 wins, five defeats and one draw, and was due to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr next month. The fight was the main event on a card and was set in Payne's home town of Evansville. An inquiry will now be made into the circumstances of Payne's death.www.bbc.co.uk/sport

Never heard of him, but always sad when a boxer dies in the ring.
  10. I am currently reading Michael Watson's autobiography and like most autobiographies you take most things with a pinch of salt. His two fights with Eubank, he seems to think he won the first easily and was dominating the secondd until round 10. He scores it as 9 rounds to him I think. Was Watson robbed or is he just bitter and big-headed?

The first one was contraversial. Watson was the people's champion, Eubank was hated by the british public due to holding the title that was rightfully Watson's. Eubank was hated more than any heel in wrestling and Watson was loved. Watson did then dominate the second fight, but a good shot from Eubank knocked Watson down, Watson hit is head on the rope and was finished. Eubank won the second fight in fair but unfortunate circumstances.
  11. I cannot believe 1 judge had such a different result to the others. They'll have a rematch, Rahman will likely win on a split decision. But so far Rahman has haeld the WBC title twice, defended the title twice and has not won a defence. To light the division again they should do Brewster or Byrd Vs Rahman so they can get some unification. Valuev will unlikely take a difficult opponent til he has to face his mandatory challenger.

  12. I think that not everybody has seen every promotion on that list, yeh the FWA did have a very bad year and LAW and UCW r prbably the worst 2 promotions on there, but if sum1 dosent watch LAW and UCW regular then they cant vote 4 them

    ye yor rite innit m8
  13. It's the same every year. The people that get nominated in dolt of the year are all "Ohhh theres a pack/clique out to get me"Get over it, you're an idiot.

not me, i knew id be in here. i deserve to be in here. and i deserve to be second. but thats not gonna stop me from trying to be a better member of the forum, contribute more and make sure im not on here next year. id be most insulted if i am nominated next year anyway, because im gonna try and be a good poster.
Well at least your trying unlike others who just continue to moan.
  14. Too right Steve, you just gotta love the FWhAte. They did give people plenty of ammo this year though.

I didn't vote FWA, but I can see why it would be justified. A little while back they were the British promotion by miles (it's true) and then they really fell off in 2005; totally lost all direction as a promotion, even if they have had some good events or matches.
That I understand. But were the events staged 'that bad', the only real bad thing the FWA seemed to do was cancel goldrush at a late stage, a lot of other events were great just not as well attended as they were the year previously. Don't think that makes them 'bad' just in need of direction.I just don't see how that get's them well into the lead over some of the others that's all!
Nah FWA truelly sucked dick last year. Storylines started but never finished or just failed to go anywhere. The Broxbourne shows which cost more to get into than other shows were treated as b-shows by Greg Lambert. They would hype matches in one area of the country and then hold them in another area. The company was dominated by a fairly weak champion yet you knew he was never jobbing.
  15. I think the difference is, a fat bloke writing ECW on his arm in marker pen is still funny.

At least I'm not the only one who thinks so but he isn't the only one to do something so pathetic. This is some guy on the pwg forums. SDTATTOO.jpg
  16. 19 dolts say otherwise. He's an anal, argumentative moron. His constant NEED to be right is not only boring, it's pretty fecking wierd. You don't have to be stupid to be an idiot. You can post well-written crap too.

It's *weird* by the way. :smug: tiger_rick nominated me for UKFFer of the year last year and my posting style hasn't changed that much at all. So let's not pretend that this incredibly active volte-face is inspired by anything other than sour grapes.Remember everybody that *I* have the brains! Yeah, I'm probably smarter than you and it's too fucking bad if you don't like it. And if you want your opinions to be as cool, nuanced and worthy as mine, all you need to do is get smarter. Y'know, maybe read a book or two. In the words of Ma$e: You can't be a playa and hate the playas. That don't make no sense.
What? Alan I can not believe you just posted that.
  17. I just finished watching Hyperdrive. Good fun from the writers and a few of the cast of "The 99p Challenge" on radio. So Miranda Hart, while not conventionally attractive, is funny which makes up for a hell of a lot.hart.jpgShe was in "Smack the Pony" too, but don't let that annoy you too much.

I don't care how funny that woman is, she is fucking ugly.
