  1. What's going on with the Heavyweight scene these days anyway.. Its been quite a while since I paid attention to it!

Is anyone paying attention to it? I couldn't even name the four main champions. What is more scary is that apparently Matt Skelton will be getting a title shot my the end of the year. If he was in a title match ten years ago I would of feared for his life, now I just fear for the future of boxing.
  2. I'm suprised at the direction that interview took. I was expecting Warrior to bury WWE, but he didn't, he gave his honest opinion, and I've gotta respect him for that. He also made some good points, it's just a shame the interviews did their best to ignore these.
I also thought Warrior's interview was pretty good. He could of went out there and talked shit like Joanie Laurer but I felt he went out and actually talked sense but it was just a shame that the interviewers were doing their best to stop him from making his points. I also enjoyed how Warrior shouted one of them down when he tried to talk over him.
  3. Just watching Fox news..I dont know if this is the first time it's been mentioned but fox have just mentioned 'possible' links to the death of Sherri Martel.Saying they do not suspect foul play, but that she didnt die from natural causes, the link?....she was friends with Kevin Sullivan.

That really makes little to no sense at all.
Alot of the news reports I have watched from America seem to make bugger all sense. They just seem to report any sensationalist bollocks to fill time.
  4. McToney has been caught with steroids again, that probably explains his bitch tits. I am curious to why he has such a belly though. He has been banned for a year by the the California Athletics Commision, although since it is a second offence he should of been banned for life.

  5. Isn't Holyfield struggling to get a boxing license in either New York or Nevada because of his heart problems. i can't see him fighting for a world title anywhere outside MSG or Vegas for a world title can you.

He would fight in Texas. He wants to be champion again so he will fight outside of Nevada or New York. Not every big fight happens in those two states.
  6. Samuel Peter beat Fat Boy Toney again. Toney claims he should of won the fight, saying he gave him the Ali shuffle. I would of loved to of seen that. I bet Toney's flab would waved everywhere. It now looks like Peter will face Maskaev.

  7. From bbc.co.uk

Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is to step back into the ring in a bid to settle his spiralling debts. The 40-year-old will fight former sparring partner Corey 'T-Rex' Sanders in Youngstown on 20 October. The four-round bout is the start of what has been labelled by promoters as the 'Mike Tyson World Tour'.The American's last fight was in June 2005, when he suffered a humiliating defeat to Kevin McBride and subsequently announced his retirement. My physical condition is terrible - I am only able to fight for three or four roundsMike TysonTyson said last month he "truly hated fighting" but nevertheless is set end his 15-month hiatus and return to the ring."I do not know why people want to see me again - I do not deserve it," said Tyson. "I am not useful for society, but the public continue to follow me."My physical condition is terrible. I am only able to fight for three or four rounds."The money that I will receive from this tour will not help me a lot. But it will be useful for me, as it will do me good not to feel depressed."

If he did a four round match here I would probably go, it would be a giggle. I think Sanders will lay down for him, or Tyson will win on points.
  8. Hatton has relinquished his WBA title. I used to like th eguy, but I hope Urango KO's the guy. Hatton thought he was the daddy and now he has realised, although a very good fighter, he is not as good as he thought. This is now two title he has won and not defended, which I really fucking hate.

  9. Former Birmingham and Sheffield United midfielder Curtis Woodhouse will make his pro boxing debut on 8 September.Woodhouse, 26, will take on Dean Marcantonio of Eltham in a welterweight contest on the DebRA charity show at London's Grosvenor House hotel. The former England Under-21 midfielder left Grimsby to take up his new trade at the end of last season."Boxing has always been my first love, even as a kid, and I've always wanted to do it for real," said Woodhouse. I didn't win an FA Cup but I'm putting everything into winning a British title!Curtis Woodhouse"I was sparring in the boxing gym every day after football training and I never let the manager know what I was doing."Former British featherweight champion Gary De Roux has been training me and he has really put me through my paces."I know I'm ready to make a big impact. I didn't win an FA Cup but I'm putting everything into winning a British title!"Woodhouse's last game for Grimsby was the League Two play-off final against Cheltenham in May, which the Mariners lost 1-0.Higher up the Grosvenor House bill will be British and Commonwealth cruiserweight champion Mark Hobson's WBU title clash with Pavol Polakovic.Dagenham super featherweight prospect Kevin Mitchell takes on Andrey Isaev.

Joe Calzaghe will defend his WBO super middleweight title against Cameroon's Sakio Bika on 14 October at the MEN Arena in Manchester. It will be the Welshman's first fight since beating America's Jeff Lacy in sensational fashion in March. The 27-year-old Bika, who is based in Australia, has been defeated just once in 23 professional encounters.Calzaghe has been promised a "mega fight" next February by promoter Frank Warren if he comes through unscathed.Johnny Nelson will defend his WBO cruiserweight crown against Enzo Maccarinelli on the undercard, while Andy Morris defends his British featherweight crown against Steve Foster Jnr.The winner of next month's match between Sheffield's Clinton Woods and Glen Johnson is in the frame to fight Calzaghe in February, as are middleweight king Jermain Taylor and former light middleweight world champion Winky Wright.Warren is confident Calzaghe's IBF belt will also be on the line against Bika. The IBF is keen for its mandatory challenger, Robert Stieglitz, to fight for the title, but both Warren and the German's handlers have applied for an extension to allow Calzaghe a voluntary defence. They say it's difficult to find contenders for the BBC's Sport Personality of the Year, but Joe is the outstanding candidatePromoter Frank WarrenThat's because German TV dates are tied up on 14 October Mikkel Kessler's WBA/WBC unification fight with Markus Beyer.Bika put up a good show against WBC champion Beyer in May before the fight was declared a technical draw after four rounds when the champion suffered a bad cut.And Bika's only loss came against Australian Sam Soliman in 2002 when he dropped a majority decision."Bika comes to fight, he's never been stopped and he's a very tough opponent," said Warren."If Joe comes through the fight we've got a huge TV date lined up in February, so he certainly can't afford to slip up."At one stage we thought we had Markus Beyer but it took us so long to get the TV companies to agree the date, we lost him."We were then after Glen Johnson, but he decided to stay with the Woods fight."It's Joe's 20th defence and he's the longest-reigning world champion."They say it's difficult to find contenders for the BBC's Sport Personality of the Year, but I think Joe is the outstanding candidate."What other British sportsperson has dominated his sport like Joe Calzaghe has done?"Calzaghe, who pulled out of a proposed title defence in July with an injured hand, is confident he will be fully fit come fight night."I've been training for the last five weeks and I'm where I want to be at this stage and my hand's fine - I'm punching hard with it."Also on the Manchester bill, John Murray tackles Ricky Burns in a British super featherweight eliminator and Matthew Hall meets Andrew Facey in an English light middleweight title clash.

  10. Evander Holyfield begins a comeback on Friday which he hopes will end in an unprecedented fifth world title.America's former undisputed heavyweight champion, now aged 43, fights journeyman Trevor Bates in Dallas.Holyfield has won only one of his last six fights, and his last loss was so was lacklustre that New York boxing officials revoked his licence. But the four-time title holder said: "I am supposed to retire on top and I know that I can."Holyfield had no problem getting a licence in Texas, and he weighed in on Thursday at 100kg (220lbs).Bates, who has a 2-11 record and had quit the ring before Holyfield came calling, came in at 102kg (225.5lbs).Holyfield, who claims to have a ranked opponent lined up for his next bout, said: "This is just to let people know that I can fight. He plans to have a title fight in 2007 and to have all the belts around his waist, "by the time that Olympics comes," in 2008."When they put out the flame, I'll be retired," he said. "Maybe right there in Beijing."The four significant world heavyweight titles are currently held by four different boxers, and Holyfield believes his return to the fray will create a stir."People are going to say 'can he do it?'. That's going to bring interest," he said. "If I just beat one of them guys, everybody will go crazy."

bbc.co.ukYou can always rely on Texas.
  11. Main problem is it is gen admission, but not necessarilly so bad. Anybody been to Alexandra palace before for boxing, view any good? I was near the back for the Calzaghe/ Lacy fight and the view was still fucking ace and the MEN is far bigger than Ally pally.

  12. Hatton is dropping a weight and going to fight for the IBF Light Welterweight title according to Sky Sports and BBC.co.uk. He is expected to fight Urango on 8th December in Atlantic City. He obviously realised that he was being taken to the limit at Welterweight, when he can still make decent money at Light Welterweight and dominate the division.

  13. How the hell did Ashe get so high???? His matches suck - he is so boring! I nearly fell asleep at IPW this month during his match!

So,is that the only Ashe match you've seen.??
Nope! i have seen a fair few of Ashe matches, the only ones i have enjoyed were:*TLC at IPW (probably just because it was mental action!) * his tag match against Stixx and Stone at FWA Crunch a while back. Other than that his matches have been as boring as hell and the only excitement i get from the matches are from the opponents!I dont know whether IPW told Ashe to purposely be boring because he is heel now or what, but its not very impressive. :bored: I heard in someones autobiography that they were told to be heel so did loads of boring moves to make people dislike them? Maybe thats what he is doing? But like i said in the other thread, i do NOT pay to see Ashe, he just happens to be there to drag the card down.
His match ast LDN recently with Martin Stone was amazing. It was a true main event spectacle and I hope you tune into Capital TV to watch it. The 400 strong crowd that night certainly did not find him boring and were cheering him the whole way throughout his match.
  14. He'd get absolutely murdered against Hatton.

Why? Hatton's fought one welterweight, who by his own admission can't punch, and got rocked to fuck. I get the feeling Ricky is another British 'superstar' who may well get a reality check in the near future.
Collazo can't punch? What was he doing with a world title then?
You can win titles without hitting any decent punches, aslong as you keep your opponent on the backfoot and use your jab.
  15. Right. She was in Atomic Kitten, a ladette, a regular guest on Loose Women"~", a media whore and features in some of the most irritating supermarket adverts ever aired. Conclusion: Christ no. Look past the over-sized chest and set your heights higher people. :(

But are you really surprised people like Stingersplash have such low standards?
  16. Ruiz's problem isn't that he "wasn't particularly good", it's that a decent big 'un will beat a good little 'un nine times out of ten. I thought Ruiz was robbed anyways.

I don't care if he was robbed, Ruiz is the dullest fighter I have ever seen. His matches dull as fuck and you always knew that the chance of a knockout were non existant. A title as prestigious as the WBA title needs an exciting fighter.
  17. Valuev has his first defence of the WBA title tonight, wonder if he will be any good? Ruiz was not a particuarly good fighter and Valuev will have to improve if he comes against a half decent oponent, but he will probably beat the job boy tonight. However I think someone like Klitschko would beat him.
