  1. Was Mandy played by Chloe Moretz, who plays Mindy in Kick-Ass? They're upsettingly alike, and it'd be more poignant with the similar character names.

Edit: Just checked the credits on iPlayer, and they're not the same girl. Which is a little freaky.

  2. It was ugly, but it was beautiful. It was two teams fighting their absolute bollocks off to try and win it. I think Wales knew by the second half that they were going to have trouble getting the 13 point difference, but probably thought they could win the game - those two tries really shifted the balance.

I have never been so nervous about a final kick of a game.

  3. England was so fucking boring i switched off. It sapped the energy. Ireland looked good again. Nice to see them returning to form a bit.

Ireland looked alright. Ronan O'Gara clearly needs to stop kicking, because he has gone to complete shit. If he'd managed to score any of those other penalities, that entire game would have been different and I wouldn't have been shitting myself in the last 2 minutes after England's last try.

  4. Jamie Roberts being passed fit for the Frog game is tremendous news, I feel that if we pick up the win on Friday (Fucking Friday, fucks sakes) the paddys will not be able to prevent us repeating the grand slam.

If you beat France in the same, convincing way that we did, then maybe. As it stands, I think Ireland/Wales will be the closest game so far and could go either we.

I'm hoping we smash England on Saturday - it's on my fucking birthday...

  5. Italy/Ireland was a boring as hell game to watch. Ireland were rubbish in the first half, with Fitzgerald acting as Jesus in the last second and scoring a much-needed try. The second half saw a couple more Ireland trys before Italy fell asleep - unfortunately falling asleep ON Ireland, meaning they could do anything until the last 10 minutes or so.

All Ireland's trys were great, though, especially O'Driscoll's. Fucking pace on that man.

  6. Oh, well, that'll be why then. All my female friends who have read them have said that "it doesn't matter who played Edward, the character from the books is the sexiest man ever". it does go into some detail during the passionate love scenes, what with the kissing and whatnot...

  7. Ignoring the creepiness, if you went in there without knowing the whole thing is essentially a love story, with only a bit of action and quite a heavy re-working of the vampire legends (which I think was an incredibly bold idea by the original author, which does come off quite nicely), then I'm not surprised you were disappointed. The novels are, apparently, simply amazingand the film is meant to only capture a little bit of that (for example, the final sequence of events lasts two weeks in the novels, with a huge amount of detail devoted to them, but takes only about 25 minutes of the film, tops).

I haven't read the novels myself (though I probably am going to), but even though I did quite enjoy the film for what it is, even I could tell they hadn't quite got it right. And Robert Pattison has an incredibly odd-shaped face for someone who is meant to be a literary heart-throb. Oh, and don't let your daughter read the novels yet, Jonathon - they're quite sexually charged, apparently, and if you're worried about her after the film...

(Sorry for dragging this so far off topic...)

  8. Paterson Joseph has already been in 2 episodes of Doctor Who before, I think it was the end of series 1...

Off topic, but while running on round on IMDB trying to see if I'm right (which I was), I've discovered that Christopher Ecclestone is in the G.I. Joe film as Destro. Awesome!
