    I can live with being older than the England captain.

     

    I can just about cope with being older than the WWE champion.

     

    But fuck off am I meant to be older than Dr Who.

    Absolutely wretched casting.

     

    How can you say it's 'wretched casting' where you've only seen what he looks like, with no performance of him as the Doctor to refer to? The age of the actor portraying the character is ultimately irrelevant, as was mentioned in the programme just now. It's the hybrid of young and old attitude mixed with quirkiness and serious emotion that the actor BRINGS to the part that defines the character of the Doctor, not how old the said actor is.

     

    Smith looks very promising, he gives off the vibe of the Doctor, whilst also looking different enough to create his own edge on the character, can't wait! :thumbsup:

     

    Quite easily when age and look are very important in the role of The Doctor and considering I am a sci-fi geek and Doctor Who was my first sci-fi television love over 22 years ago and thus have since amassed a collection of Doctor Who VHS and DVD's that would put an end to any social life I think I'm entitled to my opinion same as anyone else is - geek or otherwise!

     

    Also any chance he had of winning me back ended when I heard his voice. And the whole "The age of the actor portraying the character is ultimately irrelevant, as was mentioned in the programme just now" is just a load of spin like that whole program was...Constantly felt (though undestandably) that they spent 90% of the program justifying their decission to hire such a young person to play the part when really all they needed to say was - young girls + children =

    Fire Pro Wrestling Returns is available, but you need to buy from Italy for a PAL version. I got mine from an italian site called DVD.it. Delivery was quick and negotiating the italian site not too bad, as most of it can be translated. I ended up paying about

    Is 'Pete the Treat' not Hubert of PTW/UCW fame? I only say it because that's his MySpace name...
    If that is the case it more than likely is, I knew it was someone from UCW and from the way it was written I guessed Gangster. Obviously I guessed wrong. I know he used to post under UCW PROMOTER, I just heard he still posts under here under an alias. I echo Lister's suggestion/question too btw.

    Agreed, and Im noticing a pattern with workers who own their own promotions mentioned in these Shitarse threads. Of the promotors mentioned, the following own their own promotion and work nowhere else!!!Gang* : UCW

    In fairness to Gangster, he has worked for many other promotions in the UK, regardless of whether he's supplied the ring or not.     I think he posts on here as Pete The Treat.Also as someone has already said (and this is in no means aimed at Gangster - tho he will probably think it is - because I havnt seen him wrestle in several years) the amount of promotions you work for doesnt mean shit - especially out of that lot there where most are defuct (such as EEW whom have videos on YouTube from their spectaculaly bad event in 01/02) and only ran once or twice. Plus most of these groups are actually run by other wrestlers where they basicly book each other so they both get to work, so on month 1 wrestler X will pay wrestler Y a certain amount for working wrestler X's show and the following month wrestler Y will pay Wrestler X the very same amount for working wrestler Y's show.And don't even START me on the whole wrestling in the USA thing. It's not like their flights are paid for ar anything like that. It's easy to make connections and get on a show over there. Plus they're just as big as a mark over there as most are over here. While over here a lot of people brag about wrestling in the States like it is some sort of accomplishment the Americans will brag that they have wrestled in the UK and all over the world etc. When they have simply done the same thing as those Brits that fly themselves over. So making friends with someone who can get you bookings in another country basicly.The USA scene is just as bad as the UK scene. Just because you've wrestled in America doesn't mean you're any good or not a shitarse. Considering on those types of shows the payoff (IF there is a payoff) can be anywhere from $5 to $20 ($20 if you're lucky). $75 is a good regular wage over there for a lot of people (these people will be people most of you would have heard of) though some can command upto $200 but then you're talking somebody you would most certainly have heard of or care about. But on the AIWF type level you're looking at working free to $20 and around that figure.

    How anyone can vote for an Eden Black match is beyond me!

    wow! Each to their own I suppose but out of interest what Eden Black maches have you seen as imho she is the best in the UK womens wrestling scene and one of the best going today period. For as long as she wants to be she is the one girl that will ALWAYS be on a ChickFight event and I'm sure I can say the same with regards to her Shimmer career too.
    Seen all her stuff on iww's programme last year. And a good bit of her stuff on RQW this year. I find her very sloppy. Although having said that, you're right, she IS one of the best on th UK womens scene, best of a very bad bunch.
    I disagree but of course I am biased so that may not hold much water if any however I did ask what matches .... so what matches have you seen her in because her matches with Cheerleader Melissa, Amazing Kong and Jetta have been fantastic and a real highlight of the year.Also I said Eden Black is the best - not one of, just to slightly correct you there.

    It's actually not UCW, its from a show I have on video called EEW (Extreme English Wrestling) - EXTREME MEASURES!Also on the show are a skinny teenage Sandman tribute act, a fantasticly bad battle royal, Mark Priest and more fantastic shit. Anytime I'm feeling a bit down I just chuck this tape on - cheers me right up with laughs aplenty!
