  1. I actually watched it all the way through earlier, and there's a bit near the end where Chase is almost out, then winds up back in the ring being double teamed, and the commentary repeats (but in a different style, so clearly two different takes) the stuff about Chase almost being eliminated and is on the apron, all while he's in the middle of the ring. So it seems like even the person who edited it together didn't give a toss by that point.

Which would have been Katz himself - who was also one of the commentators. :-/

  2. Supposedly it would look like this: Wrestling Revolution preview match. Enter the password 'whattooksolongkatz'. Its a battle royal. Apparently the project is going ahead and they'll be uploading preview matches.

To be honest, I think WSX did it better.

The problem with this sort of thing is I think you're in danger of really sucking the life out of shows. But then I don't think its something that anyone's really done well yet and I think wrestling could probably do with a new way of being presented. I think its difficult to judge the idea until we've seen a real good execution of it, and I don't think we ever will.

Having just watched as much as I could take (which wasn't long) I think its bloody dreadful. If anything to me this type of post production and editing ends up showing a lot of angles that you wouldn't normally use because it almost exaggerates the 'slight of hand' with everything looking 'faker' if you know what I mean.

It also looks cheap and nasty. In fact nothing about this looks good at all IMO.

    *edit*

Furthermore, if you're trying to present it differently especially in terms of filming and editing like this, then the commentary needs to be a completely different style too. The commentary just doesn't fit the visual presentation. The sound mixing is atrocious. Was this rent a crowd too? The chants make no sense. A "This is awesome" chant in a battle royal when nothing is happening for example. Nothing about this seem to work or fit together in fact. In some ways it kind of reminds of WEW lol.

  3. Great post and attitude Mark. Fuck me, it's Jewish Darren who I remember having chats with at various wrestling shows (not just FWA) around Mark Petar's VHS / TV combo. So you're actually living in the USA? I have a lague memory (could be wrong) but didn't you do some sort of "USA loyalist" gimmick at some point? Around 2003?

Yeah, my gimmick for most of my "career" was an American...living the gimmick!

MAJOR NEWS CONCERNING WRESTLE-FEVER iPPV ON SATURDAY!

We're pleased to announce that WrestleFever NEXT SATURDAY is now a DOUBLE MAIN EVENT show as for the first time in its 20 year history the oldest active championship in Joshi Puroresu today is defended outside of Japan when the newly crowned Champion Emi Sakura defends the JWP Open-Weight Championship against the fastest rising star in Europe - Kay Lee Ray.

Emi Sakura, who has visited EVE before and holds a 3-1 Win Loss record (only loss to Jenny Sjodin in an unsuccessful attempt at becoming the Pro-Wrestling:EVE Champion) won the JWP Open-Weight Championship last Sunday (28/10/12) ending Kayoko Haruyama's second reign as champion.

Following her championship victory, Emi Sakura promptly made fans and management aware that she wished to defend the JWP Open-Weight Championship at the Pro-Wrestling:EVE live iPPV event entitled Wrestle-Fever on Saturday November 10 2012 at The Delphi Centre in Sudbury, Suffolk.

Everyone at Pro-Wrestling:EVE have a great respect for JWP, the JWP Open-Weight Championship and of course Emi Sakura who left a lasting impression on everyone in EVE and all EVE fans and supporters during her trip last October.

However most importantly we at EVE also recognise this as a tremendous opportunity for Kay Lee Ray to become the first European to hold the JWP Open-Weight Championship which as mentioned before is the oldest and most respected Championship in Japan today and would naturally lead to the first tour of Japan for the flame haired high-flyer.

It is no secret the Japanese wrestling community recognise the incredible ability of Kay Lee Ray. After the unfortunate withdrawal of Carmel Jacob from last years EVE v ICE Ribbon series due to illness, it was the Ice Ribbon Management who personally requested Kay Lee Ray to take Carmel's place in the match with Hikaru Shida. A tremendous showing in that match followed by an amazing performance in a three way battle against Tsukasa Fujimoto and Erin Angel earned Kay Lee Ray even more plaudits from her peers both in EVE and in Japan and the choice for Challenger of the JWP Championship is a further testament to this fact.

It has also been a tremendous year for Emi Sakura who after leaving Ice Ribbon (the promotion she founded) at the start of 2012, moved to Thailand to form the Gatoh-Move Pro Wrestling promotion and also won the JWP Tag Team Championships alongside Kaori Yoneyama who herself is making her Pro-Wrestling:EVE debut at WrestleFever where she will team with April Davids against TNA British Bootcamp stars Holly & Hannah - The Blossom Twins.

The JWP Championship defence marks the second time that Pro-Wrestling:EVE has hosted the first international defence of a major title in Japan as last years EVE v ICE Ribbon series saw the first international defence of the ICE x 60 Championship when Hikari Minami successfully defended her title against "Portugal's Perfect Athlete" Shanna.

Pro-Wrestling:EVE are pleased to bring you this historic night of action on Saturday November 10 2012 at The Delphi Centre in Sudbury, Suffolk and LIVE on iPPV (internet Pay-Per-View) at www.EVEwrestlefever.com for just

  5. Unless New Japan have poached him after he made the semi's in this years BOSJ....

That would strike me by far and away more feasible than either of the American options. I can't imagine WWE being that keen to jump back into the "smaller foreign import" water so soon after the letdown that has been Sin Cara to date

WWE took a look at Pac recently...

When I was scrolling down I saw that first pic and was like 'Okay, that's Mike Rotunda, who's his lookalike then....' only to see the pic below be IRS!!

I've never heard of that Bruce Campbell fella but good call on that - uncanny resemblance!

  7. Just received 'The Wrestling' by Simon Garfield in the post today. Looking forward to it, heard a lot of good things.

It's tremendous. Everyone (especially those getting into the business in the UK) should read it.

  8. American - The Bill Hicks Story

The Mrs and I really enjoyed this. It's not the complete Bill Hicks story but then if you're a big fan of Bill Hicks you'll be aware of where you can find out more. It IS however a great introduction to a man who was so far ahead of his time.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Rating: 3 and a half out of 5

  9. Well, in all the crazy history of this place, I believe this may actually be a UKFF first.

On Tuesday night, I was visited at my flat by the police, who were following up a complaint against me personally for harassment of her son. Yes, they were talking specifically about an entry in the "Shit List".

It was a rather strange experience trying to explain to two coppers exactly what the UKFF was, what the UKFF UK50 was, and how it worked ("Are you the Ben Corrigan who writes for the UK Fan Forum website?"..."Erm......Yes?!"), though they seemed happy enough with my co-operation. They suggested that I add a disclaimer to entries to reiterate what I had already stated, in that these were not my own personal views and opinions, just a collation of those from all the fans/wrestlers/promoters that had contributed to the list.

As such, I have decided to remove most of the text from Surf Grafitti's "Shit List" entry. While I'm not sure exactly what the law actually is, and whether quoting the stories that other UKFFers contributed as a write-up actually constitutes harassment, but at least this way it prevents future complications or further complaints from the party in question.

    Carry on...

That is both the greatest and most surreal thing ever, in fact I actually believe you deserve a great big "Well Done!" and a hearty firm handshake! That's just amazing. This thread has just become UKFF Gold surely?!

Just incredible. Absolutely incredible. The guy and his mum have just insured he's become infamous among the IWC as well as those in the business who become aware of this! If his ring work wasn't enough to stop him getting bookings then this surely will be.

    Well done again, Sir!

    I don't believe it!!!

    I just don't believe it!!!!!

I just heard a rumour that the police have had to follow up a complaint made against our own Benny for putting her son on The Shit List.

I shouldn't say who it is (nor should I have to really) but I will say his name rhymes with Smurf Braffiti.

Yeah because that will make promoters want to book him. That's the worst thing he could have done for himself right there.

  11. Only just seen this - so so sad. He didn't live that far from me and always made an effort to go to any shows I promoted no matter if they were male shows or female shows. A very supportive, dedicated and passionate individual who was lovely to chat to. I'm absolutely knocked sideways by this. Just dreadful.

Condolences, thoughts and prayers with his friends and family.

RIP Stuart. I'll miss seeing you around :-(

  13. TV Title match: Ricky Steamboat © vs Scott Steiner

I remember watching this match back in the day and really really liking it. 'Course I was a huge fan of Steiner and Steamboat back in my childhood and I havn't watched it since then so might not date well.

Rick Steiner at this point had left WCW and the following week Scott Steiner had left WCW for WWE so I believe this was Scott's last WCW appearence.

Ventura is excellent on commentary as per usual.

  14. Watched Kill Bill this week, its one of my Mrs' favourite movies if not her actual favourite along with Withnail & I.

Gotta say I did not like this movie. Theres some nice ideas in theres such as the bride not being able to use her legs when she wakes from a coma but unfortunately its marred by the fact that altho she can't use her legs she can still use the rest of her body. But tbh thats quite a petty thing to moan about. Its the whole movie that I dislike. The story, the self-gratifying layout, the fight scenes - its all a load of bollocks in my opinion (which I realise is that of a minority considering its success).

It really was one of those films that after a while you're just thinking "how much longer til this ends?"

I havn't explained very well why I didnt like this movie, theres no real "they did this wrong and they did this wrong" because they obviously did a lot right for it to be such a huge success, however I just really did not like movie and theres not a lot else I can add to that...

Anybody else not like it but can do a better job than me of saying why?

  15. JFK - 1991 directed by Oliver Stone and staring Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Oldman and numerous others is a rediculously good movie that I've seen twice before but always pick up something else whenever I watch it again. I STRONGLY reccommend this film to anyone who either loves conspiricy theories on true events or just simply a bloody good detective movie...

It's about as much based on true events as "50,000 BC" was. It contains little which is verifiable truth and lots which is absolute flat-out lies.

Mortimer misses the point once again.............it's in black and white, this automatically makes it a great film.

What wonderful assumptions you make of people...Not possible to be liked because its a good movie that I am far from alone on thinking no it has to be because of something else that perhaps some over-the-top film students would get excited about....Also JFK is not in black and white.

  16. JFK - 1991 directed by Oliver Stone and staring Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Oldman and numerous others is a rediculously good movie that I've seen twice before but always pick up something else whenever I watch it again. I STRONGLY reccommend this film to anyone who either loves conspiricy theories on true events or just simply a bloody good detective movie, heres some info from wiki:

JFK is an American film directed by Oliver Stone. The film was released on December 20, 1991. It examines the events leading to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and alleged subsequent cover-up, through the eyes of former New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison (played by Kevin Costner). Garrison filed charges against New Orleans businessman Clay Shaw (Tommy Lee Jones) for his alleged participation in a conspiracy to assassinate the President. The film was adapted by Stone and Zachary Sklar from the books On the Trail of the Assassins by Jim Garrison and Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy by Jim Marrs. Stone described his fictionalized film as a "counter-myth" to the "myth" of the Warren Commission.

The film became embroiled in controversy even before it was finished filming, after Washington Post national security correspondent George Lardner showed up on the set. Based on the first draft of the screenplay, he wrote a scathing article attacking the film. Upon JFK's theatrical release many of the major newspapers in the United States of America ran editorials criticizing what they perceived as liberties that Stone took with historical facts, including the film's implication that President Lyndon B. Johnson was part of a coup d'etat to kill Kennedy. After a slow start at the box office, Stone's film gradually picked up momentum, earning over $205 million in worldwide gross. Garrison's estate subsequently sued Warner Bros. for a share of the film's profits, alleging a book-keeping practice known as "Hollywood accounting". JFK went on to win two Academy Awards and was nominated for eight in total, including Best Picture.

    Cultural impact

The popularity of JFK led to the passage of The President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 (also known as the JFK Act) and the formation of the U.S. Assassination Records Review Board. The Act was signed into law by President George H. W. Bush in late October 1992.[55] The ARRB worked until 1998. Witnesses were interviewed (some for the first time), the U.S. government purchased the Zapruder film, and previously-classified documents relating to the assassination were finally made available to public scrutiny. By ARRB law, all existing assassination-related documents will be made public by 2017
