  1. Personally, I love all the Saw films, with all being enjoyable in their own way.

Saw was a real mind-fuck, especially as it had you convinced that it could be anyone or anything that was causing it. The ending was fantastic.

Saw II was really well done, with a great central premise. Made a change for the "hero" not to save the day as well.

Saw III was a bit muddled at the time, but three films on and they are still explaning the backstory of that film. It also had the most gruesome traps IMO.

Saw IV was fun, especially when you clicked that it was an interlocking story from the last one.

Saw V had the weakest central trap, but the bits wit Hoffman and Strahm was very interesting.

Saw VI was the best since the first one for me. Good acting (for a change), a great plot, good traps and lots more holes filled in.

I can't be the only one who gets tingles when the twist is being revealed and that music starts up...

  2. Watched four films in the last few days. First up Let the Right One In. I enjoyed the film in that it was atmospheric, and a points creepy, but in no way was it as scary as some reviews have made it out to be. I also watched the Girl in the Park which is well acted but not a lot happens. Sigourney Weaver and Alessandro Nivola plays their parts well, Kate Bosworth is okay. Bronson is a different film, isn't it? Tom Hardy is awesome, and some parts are pretty funny - but the style of the film is all over the place. Finally, saw 500 Days of Summer today. An enjoyable little film thats pretty sweet if not groundbreaking.

  3. Started having a bit of a film week this week...

Final Destination 4. If you've seen one you've seen them all. Except its in 3D. Effects were average, acting was poor, but in 3D, hey, it was okay. Plus the leads girlfriend was a fittie. **

Stripes. Haven't seen this in years, and it hasnt aged well. Bill Murray is good value, but John Candy just feels wasted. The ending is all a bit too Police Academy for my liking. **

Dan in Real Life. Wanted to see this for a while as I much prefer Steve Carrell in more 'serious' roles. Was quite good, though I did feel that I've seen it all before. Emily Blunt was quite fun and light up the screen for her cameo. Worth a view. ***

Rachel at the Wedding. Heard great things, didn't live up to them. Anne Hathaway was good, the basic premise and opening fifteen minutes were promising but it was all downhill from there. It just felt like a load of scenes not connected thrown together for no reason. People said things, got mad, then forgave all i about 30 seconds over and over and over again. A let down. **

Have Mesrine and the Hurt Locker to watch the next couple of nights looking forward to those. As well as Straightheads, looking forward to that less so.

  4. Met lots, more than usual its by accident rather than design, will probs forget lots....

Alan Davies, Stephen Fry, Mark Addy, Rio Ferdinand, Craig Bellamy, Kieron Dyer, Danny Dichio, Don Hutchison, Jason McAteer (who was out of it, and not beer), Jan Molby (very, very nice man), Alan Shearer (cunt), Sam Allerdyce, Les Ferdinand (really nice guy), Charlie Hunham (went to school with him, he was a twat back then), Henry Kelly, Alan "Karl Kennedy" Flecther, Joe Scully (well the guy who played him, was a massive arse), the Chuckle Brothers (who were awesome).

Wrestlers wise (I'll forget loads of these no doubt): Raven (:)), Sandman, Austin Aries, DLo Brown, Honky Tonk Man, Shark Boy, Bret Hart, Tatanka, Bushwakers, Chyna, Marty Jannetty, Cody Rhodes, Kelly Kelly, Jake Roberts, Heidenreich, Michael Cole, Jim Duggan, Aj Styles, CM Punk, Mick Foley .....plus plenty more...

  5. This week I've seen Taken, which was pretty good. Very much Bourne-esque, though the acting - Liam Neeson aside, was quite ropey. Duplicity, whch was a good story, though I feel I've seen this plot before. Tom Wilkinson and Paul Giamatti were as good as ever, though the whole film was let down by the dour leads. Clive Owen are far better suited to dark, brooding, dramatic roles. He's not charasmatic enough to play the suave conman. Plus, please get Julia Roberts and her jug like ears and massive nostrils off my screen please. She cant act for shit either. Decent enough flick however.

Last night I watched, or tried to watch Get Smart. I've come to conclusion that Steve Carrell really should not be in a leading roles. He was good in ensambles (40 year old Virgin, Anchorman, Little Miss Sunshine), but awful in this Evan Almighty. The jokes, if there were any, were very weak. Not even the Rock and Great Khali could save it :) Also watched Ghost Town, which was quite good. Was more of a romanance film than a comedy, and Gervais' character was quite dull. Thank goodness for Greg Kinnear, who is fast becoming one of my favourite actors, his breezy performance saved the film, especially with that annoying hag Tea Leoni in it.

  6. Saw Role Models this week. I'm very hard to please when it comes to comedies - so my expectations werent too high. Have to say I thought it was hilarious. Every character plays their part well, and there are so many one liners that I'll have to watch it again sometime soon, I was laughing that hard.
