  1. Apparently when I was young, I believed that, since I rumbled the headmaster of my primary school was Father Christmas at our Christmas Fair, that random adults were somehow chosen to be some sort of Avatar of Father Christmas. Weird kid, me.

  2. Thoughts on Boom (SPOILERS):

    Spoiler

+ Ncuti and Millie being excellent together
+ The death holograms reminded me of the Torchwood episode "Exit Wounds"
+ The suspense was nearly Hitchcock-esque
+ The episode was easier to follow

    - The death holograms reminded me of the Torchwood episode "Exit Wounds" and it made me sad
    - Trying to remember where I'd seen the girl who played Splice before was quite distracting
    - Speaking of Splice, she sounded incredibly bored to me
    - The fake-out death of Ruby. Only one Doctor Who episode has done a fake-out death well and that was Jack Harkness in "The Parting Of The Ways".

All that being said, a massive improvement on Space Babies, I give this one 4 Lori Flahertys out of 5.

  3. I seem to remember in the early 2010s, when Terry Pratchett mentioned he was in favour of euthanasia being legalised in the UK, The Daily Fail were up in arms and acting like Switzerland were offering 2-for-1 coupons to Dignitas to every person who passed through Zurich airport. The sad fact is, there are a lot of people in the UK who are suffering and will continue to suffer because our lawmakers are too prudish and laissez faire to have a serious discussion on the topic.

See, I'd argue all of the worst arcs are Moffat's. The impossible girl arc is the worst thing anyone has ever written.

I dunno man, I've seen Mac And Me.....

WAR, which is a brilliant name, but it's actual two definitions, Wrestle Association R and more specifically Wrestle and Romance are wonderfully bizarre and I'm guessing lost in some sort of translation. Unless Tenryu had some curious ideas he never got round to beyond random 6 man tag teams.

    And Wrestling Association Of Rugby!

  6. Apologies for the Thread Necromancy but there's my thoughts on Space Babies and The Devil's Chord. Spoilers, of course.

    Space Babies:

    Spoiler

+Ncuti and Millie work well together, enjoying the pairing so far!
    +Interesting set design
    +Interesting enough plot
+Ruby Sunday is growing on me

    -Kids.
    -Computer makes literal snot monster.
    -Literal snot monster.
    -Moving the spaceship with farts.
-Nan-E suddenly flipping to "Fuck it, it's murder time!"

All in all, a fair enough episode, but lets have less fart humour, hmm? I give it 3.1 Confused Polarities out of 5.

    The Devil's Chord:

    Spoiler

+Mention of Susan and Trotter's Lane AND a plausible reason why they couldn't go and visit either.
+The costume design, audio equipment and cars being era-accurate, loved it.
+Ncuti finally had his "YES! This is The Doctor!" moment! His rage at not being in control of the situation against Maestro then suddenly switching back to being kind and asking the T.A.R.D.I.S for forgiveness has sold me on him.
+The guys playing The Beatles were good.
+Maestro is an interesting idea as a villain.
+The Dog Song lives in my head rent-free.

-Susan is basically confirmed as having died in The Time War, which means she had to leave David and her kids behind and they'd have had no idea what happened to her or where she went and I AM NOT CRYING YOU ARE!
-The musical number at the end went on too long and wasn't really needed.
-Mentioning diegetic songs and the cheeky wink to camera. They might as well have said "Hello people watching this on D+ and TV, this is an TV show what you are watching right now."
-Maestro was a bit over-the-top for my tastes and seemed to be trying too hard to recapture the magic of the NPH Toymaker.

An improvement on Space Babies but I'm hoping for better in the coming weeks. A 3.4 Sharon Davies' out of 5 from me.

  7. Went to my first ever Comicon on Saturday. An old friend of mine had a stall selling non-Warhammer wargaming models. I bought a Penguin King on a sled that I fully intend to paint in Lannister colours. THE PENGISTERS SEND THEIR REGARDS!

  8. 1, Corporations will pay ALL of their Corporation Tax. No exceptions.

2, Disability Benefit assessments must be performed by practicing doctors, not doctors who have been struck off.

3, Trans people will be recognised as the gender they identify as.

4, Near-dated food/food that is on the use-by date will be free to low-income families.

5, Politicians will not be allowed to accept gifts or jobs outside of their positions as MP. This one's just for me, as it's a personal bugbear of mine.

They say that instead of doctors deciding if you’re well enough, they will have trained staff doing it.

With all due respect to the people working there, I’d rather actual doctors led this.

I seem to recall a whistleblower revealed that companies like Capita were actually using doctors that had been struck off and dental nurses at one point. Wouldn't surprise me if that was still the case.

  10. Well colour me fucking shocked, The Tories are punching down on the disabled and long-term sick again. After Eliana Rubashkyn successfully claimed asylum in New Zealand because she felt unsafe in the UK, I have to wonder to myself how long it will be before disabled people and people with mental health issues will be able to do the same. I mean, fuck me running, I have a friend with Cerebral Palsy who can't walk more than a few feet unassisted, he struggles to even stand, he has to live hand to mouth because of how little help he gets from the Government, and now they're talking about taking away what little they give him?

Is this a kink? Does Rishi Sunak get off on being told he's a scumbag? If this is a kink thing, and I ask if it's a kink thing, you have to tell me, it's the law.

Four and a half minutes of flag shaggers talking absolute shit. The first woman is beyond parody, I thought it was a sketch from Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle. One guy bascially references being arrested for saying you’re British. Jesus fucking Christ indeed.

I should point out that coffee has been more popular than tea in the UK since the end of WW2.....

  12. I stream on Twitch, and I'm used to the art scammers and shills messaging me during streams, but today I had one and it really got to me. I should preface this by saying although I'm a small-timer, I still paid for my emotes and artwork that I use for BRB and offline screens. And today, today I had some jerkoff selling AI generated art that he probably created on Bing message me on my Discord and say "Hey, I'm selling art and yours is kind of lacking." Fuck me running, if he'd have said that to my face, I'd have throat-punched the bastard.

  13. Is it just me or are we seeing more and more of JKR being accused of being anti-something and then trotting out minor characters that were barely mentioned in the books as if to say "Nooo, I'm not anti-Semitic, I have an Jewish character!"?

I don't remember them in 2nd at all.

Pretty sure they were briefly mentioned in one of the rulebooks, I might be mistaken though, it has been a while.

There is lore that means there's no female space marines.

Well, you say that, but there was an all-female chapter of Space Marines in the Rogue Trader edition of Warhammer 40,000, and they were mentioned in 2nd Edition, but have since disappeared.
