Of course a real answer to this would be Hangman. He needs out from under the Elite. Natural babyface on a roster that's light on them.

Yeah this is it. The big plus with Collision is focuses on a core group consistently week after week. It’s been months since Hangman had that sort of attention and he’s crying out for it. Pairing him with the likes of Jay White, Miro, Starks and Punk has great potential plus it gets him away from the Bucks which is a major benefit at this point.

  2. There’s obviously a number of factors that have led to this but perception is reality as Vince loves to say. If the ratings continue to look like this for the next couple months it will only further legitimise AEW to TV execs and in the media. That’s why booking Omega-Dragon for next week makes so much sense, strike while the irons hot. TV is the biggest money maker these days and they’ve never been hotter than they are now.

  3. I thought Hayter was pretty great in that trios match, properly leant in to everything and made Riho’s dive to the outside look really brutal. She’s had a couple rough moments so far but is clearly willing to take a beating. Her eating Tay Conti’s strikes down the road has potential.

  4. They’ve been so good in that role, the way AEW books keeping so many top guys rarely losing requires people like that to plug in against them and 2.0 have been brilliant doing it. Garcia has been tremendous as well especially considering his experience level. Wouldn’t be at all surprising to see him vs Dragon shortly, can’t wait. That last segment was near perfect, Punk on comms was great and the final staredown was all you needed to end the show.

I don't think the pregnancy had much to do with it, what changed with Hangman was that CM Punk and Bryan Danielson are about to come in, and I'm guessing there's two things in play - in both cases there are big money matches with Omega so it may be wiser to keep the title on Kenny for now, and also it's a tricky time to annoint Hangman the top guy without making him secondary to those two, which you almost have to in order to promote their introduction with the gravity it should have. If he loses here, goes sad cowboy and goes away for a little while, then Omega beats Punk and Bryan and says nobody can beat him one on one, and then Hangman returns, then the timing is better. Hopefully people love Hangman enough to still be with him.

The general reaction to Hangman losing makes me think he’s still got massive amounts of support from fans. People clearly care massively about this, moreso than anything in wrestling for a long long time. I don’t think the past week will see people giving up on him. The big thing now is to make sure he’s still put in a prominent enough position over the next few months so he retains some of this momentum that’s been generated in recent weeks. Someone like a Malakai Black would make for a good interim feud especially if he destroys Cody this Wednesday. I’d rather this than keeping him off TV for months on end until Omega has done the Punk/Dragon matches. I’m disappointed we won’t be seeing the culmination at All Out but, based on everything that’s happened the past weeks, I do think it’s the best decision. And I have faith in AEW getting it right when Page finally has his moment.
