Isn't that just ROH's old Pure Title rules?

They could have at least made an effort to not make the rules image look like amateur hour shit.

    Three rope breaks

    No closed fists

    20 count on the floor

Those are similar but also very different.. the 5 count on count outs is an interesting one for me

  2. Is anyone else excited for this to start.  Gresham I'd a great technical wrestler and I could really see the company taking off. Never saw another thread this could fit in but here is the announced card but the more interesting thing is the rules.. something a bit different trying to keep things in the squared circle.

    Card

     Match Card:

JOSH ALEXANDER vs. JONATHAN GRESHAM - ROH Original World Title

BARON BLACK vs. BANDIDO - ROH World Championship

    LIIZA HALL vs. JANAI KAI

    MOOSE vs. Mike Bennett

JORDYNNE GRACE vs. KIERA HOGAN - Impact Digital Media Championship

    LEE MORIARTY vs. JAY LETHAL

DANIEL GARCIA vs. JDX vs. KHASH vs. ADAM PRIEST

DANTE & JOE KEYS vs. TRACY WILLIAMS & FRED YEHI

This will be live on FITE TV on January 16th

Mad as well how certain people who got fired for getting fired for forcing women to get drunk and assault them, can walk right into another profession as a coach with no checks done and that has women training there.

    Who are you referring to?

  4. Enjoyed another episode of nxt.. since the rebrand I think it's been great..is it the best in ring on TV no..is it the best stories and promos no..it is fresh and full of new talent not just doing the same moves you've seen them doing for years.. feels like when nxt first launched.. some might be green but lots of character work and you can see the workers growing week in week interspersed with vets like gargano strong ciampa dunne etc.

Johnny Gargano is so great at everything he does and genuinely gets a laugh.

Be interesting to see who moves to main roster in the draft..I think la Knight..Raquel.. franky monet and dunne and Holland all have a chance and could see some other surprise call ups too.

Shape yourself up man, have some pride.

Nothing I have said is false.

Aew is a pro wrestling show

Wwe is sports entertainment so essentially a TV show featuring wrestling

In aew the wrestling is much more important whereas in wwe it is absolutely secondary to the overarching story

Fair point. Perhaps it was a defensive move like the Big E title change to ward off a potential drop in viewers. I'm not convinced though. I think when you stack a show to that point, you're clearly expecting a bump. Nothing to worry about but telling that it didn't.

THE BIG E title change was planned for the draft and the draft got moved.. the same as it was known ages. The same as when people try to say roman being in raw this week was a hotshot.. considering he was known too not be on the smackdown uk tour months ago so this was planned ages ago.

Lots of talk about this last week if you want to read it so the suggestion that it's being ignored is nonsense. Raw is against MNF every year, it's not a factor in their ratings dipping year on year ever year bar 2020 which was an anomaly but if you're comfortable pretending, enjoy.

    Yep, one is for pensioners.

He's doing great. He was on commentary last week to set up the Tazz angst and the big angle to create his match. This week he cut a promo to set up his first TV match for 7 years. He's only been back a month. maybe they will leave him off some shows in the longer term but given he's been around for less than 6 weeks and had a PPV match and now his TV debut to build, they're hardly going to do it without him.

Your shift key is broken btw.

No doubt the raw ratings have slipped but v that's not aew that's the fact it's 3 hours.. smackdown is written by the same people and is a hugely better show largely in part to not having to fill 3 hours.

Maybe following punk for his whole career I expected more than just a promo every week basically saying he's happy to be there and Pro wrestling is back.  By the end of the punk promo moving into mjf vs pillman which in itself was poor they had lost viewers compared to Danielson.

Punk for me has absolutely been overshadowed by Danielson coming in as beyond his first match the intrigue for a lot of people I know its gone people are more talking about who they'd love Danielson or Cole to face.

I don't have a shift key on mobile mate

The Punk stuff will settle down eventually. Right now AEW are clearly trying to give as many live crowds as possible the 'Punk experience' - and why not? It's bloody brilliant. We've waited years for this and we never knew if it was coming or not. It's up there with people wanting to experience the Undertaker's entrance live. Just one of those wrestling bucket list moments.

Absolutely agree but maybe keep it to the live crowd as people at home don't need the same promo every week

  8. On another note

Punk feels a bit like he's treading water already week on week so even like if one week they just do a promo video for Him or his latest feud etc it would be better than what they are doing now..it seems he will only fight on ppv and Big specials which is fair enough but with aew only doing ppv every few months it's a long time in between I think they can afford him a week off from time to time etc rather than doing a happy to be here promo which is great for the live audience and getting repetitive for those at home.

really hope aew don’t try and chase wwe. Anyone who has tried that had failed. I much prefer the coke don’t talk about pepsi Approach. Just do your shit and let others worry about themselves

For me they are two totally different products for different audiences

Aew still feels bit like an indy and that's not being derogatory its just that like for example roh 2007 to 10 you know that on a big show you are getting great matches to watch.. some of the stories can be a bit wishy washy.

Wwe on video packages alone can hype you for a match and sometimes it delivers and sometimes it doesn't but as a sports entertainment company they have entertained you with the story so ultimately done their job.

Aews most fleshed out story with hangman now feels a bit in the balance as is he really going to be the one to come back and dethrone omega when since he went on leave you've had punk Cole and Danielson all as viable contenders and there's is talk of interest in Windham steen zayn etc.. feels he's been overtaken

Apparently that night was a big night for season premieres in the US so that may have had some effect. I don't think AEW is going to get any monster ratings jumps at this point though. As long as they stay consistent hopefully ratings will slowly rise.

Interesting how people mention the premieres of survivor and the masked singer to justify aew then talk about raw being poor rating but fail to mention not only them going against Monday night football but also the premiere of the voice and dancing with the stars this week too... both huge shows.

Demo ratings for this week's Monday Night Football were 3.86 on ESPN and .71 for ESPN2 so it actually more than doubled the Masked Singer and Survivor combined there for example and that's not even counting the voice or dwts.

Agenda driven opinions are the order of the day there..oh but aew were against a and b..BTW rawratings were crap... let's not mention they were up against the juggernaut that is mnf as well as the Premiere of two bigger shows in dwts and the voice

And speaking of 1997, that CM Punk match was the most poetic end to the Wednesday Night Wars imaginable. The winners doing a Bret Hart tribute match whilst Triple H and HBK’s territory dies a sad, humiliating death? Beautiful. Bret should re-release his book with an extra chapter covering this.

I'm sure that's exactly what they thought too.. not that they would go out and put on a great match it was all about bret getting one over on Shawn somehow.. your point is bordering on ridiculous

How much of Summerslam was planned in response to AEW?

    None

Got to laugh at people saying brock or becky returns were a retaliation to punk debut.. the becky thing has been spoke about for weeks and we all know with brock he's not the type of person to sign at a moments notice and was always likely to be back with a Saudi payday on the cards.

Don't know why people can't just enjoy one the other or both without having to be like x did that because of y..wwe pulled 50k people in without even promoting this surprises.. they would fill next months ppv etc without them too.

For what it's worth I loved the punk but with aew but that had no bearing on anything that happened at this show

  13. Hi everyone I am new to the forum.  I am interested in finding some information around the UK wrestling scene in 1993 for a project I am working on.

I already use the usual sources like cagematch etc so was hoping someone might be able to point me the way of more resources or maybe share personal knowledge

Mainly I am looking for information on rosters.. promotions.. the state of the scene in general.

I know about all star which is the obvious one.. reslo I was looking into but cagematch doesn't seem to have any cards up from 1993.

I also know there was a lot of tribute going on back then of course with UK undertakers etc.

So if anybody can share some information that would be great

    Thanks

    Dave
