Any of these emulation machines are kind of pointless really. It's nice to have all the extra features and everything, but most basic laptops from the last few years will easily handle pretty much anything up to the PS1 sort of era (might need something a tad more powerful for anything beyond that). Just download some emulators and rom files, then plug the laptop into your telly with an HDMI lead. Piece of piss, as they say.

Its what I have done for years. Though if you configure the emulators right you can run some of the machines past PS1 though I doubt they would run all that well.

Isn't the USA deal for Raw about to come up soon? It's going to be intriguing how that goes following Raw having ratings previously only seen when Nitro was dominating and even getting its lowest rated episode ever.

I think the current one is a 5 year deal so it wont end until 2019. Negotiations for that wont get serious until 2018. I got the impression its a 5 year deal after listening to Wrestlenomics Radio breakdown the end of 2016 WWE results. I don't think they will get a huge increase if they get an increase given how the shows have performed in the current contract. But if they do enough to keep USA #1 in the cable network standings then they should get a somewhat decent increase.

One of the many reasons why it's worth waiting a few months before buying a new release these days.

Outside of the major sports titles I don't buy many major Triple-A titles anyway. Most of them just don't appeal to me at this point. Or they are franchises that have well and truly overstayed their welcome.

    Exactly this!!!

As mentioned, it's fifteen quid good!

I got it much closer to release so it wasn't that cheap. Played it for about a week and a half then stopped cos it felt so rinse and repeat.

Does anyone elses primary wrestling content come from podcasts these days? Over the last year the growth of podcasts has completely altered the way i enjoy the business, i look forward to certain podcasts way more than any actual wrestling show these days.

    Anyway...

Noticed that Vince Russo has put his tail between his legs and gone back to mostly wrestling content, he's said he's out to bury everyone. He mentioned something on the Disco podcast this week about Podcast One extending his contract for 1 more year, it sounded to me like he might have been read the riot act though in terms of the content he puts out.

Ive been consuming 99.99% of my wrestling through podcasts since 2011. Had a Observer subscription for a lot of that time so I just had Meltzer & Alvarez inform me on what happened on RAW or a PPV. Piledriver Wrestling was the same between 2013-2015 before they just suddenly vanished with no reason why. Now there aren't as many shows that do the whole breakdown thing like that so its a little harder. I have never been as big on the Jericho, Austin or JR shows as others have though if they have  someone of interest one I usually take a listen.

I am thinking of picking up the new WWE2K game.

ive heard the gameplay runs like a pig but it's not bad overall,

how easy is it to import caws and entrance sets and all that ?

Seen some cool retro mods , how does one go about getting and installing them ?

Big fan of late 90's wcw, any cool way of getting all the wrestlers from that period all at once easily ?

im really unsure as to how it all works.

You can't get them all in one download. You have to download them all separate. I assume you are playing on console?

  7. Bruce did a look back at Undertaker in the WWF 1993-1994 this week on Something to Wrestle. I guess this is a new type of show where they look at a select wrestlers year in WWE. They did Hogan in 1987 last week. Would be good if they did this covering a whole guys career so Hogan 87-93, Taker 90-08, Austin 95-03 etc. I guess you have to cut it off at 2008 when Prichard leaves WWE though.

It is a great listen, even if there is only little bits of info here and there that I hadn't heard before. That's not a knock on the podcast, but it's a subject that's been covered in such detail so many times, I think anyone would struggle to provide truly fresh light on it. But it's well put together and flies by, I was doing a night shift while listening to it.

Wrestling With Shadows is the final part of the trilogy of shows for that part, then they're onto finishing the regular timeline. Hopefully they carry on in some form as its the most consistent of the fan Podcast's out there

Yeah it would be a shame if they just stop altogether when they hit the Attitude Era. I would like them to go down the OSW road and just review random story lines or something like that.

Sad to see. Maybe one more match in a WWE ring though? Possibly a 6 man tag or something? Followed by a Hall of Fame induction for the British Bulldogs.

I wouldn't expect them to do anything involving him going forward. Pretty sure he was on one of the lawsuits recently.

Do u think its just that we've had so much TV and exposure were all burned out and over saturated by it?

Goldberg has been a joy but the rest is meh.

There's just so much TV hours now out there that each year alone there's about 15 solid days of TV excluding ppvs.

The comparison is sketchy but look at EastEnders, home and away, neighbours, etc. 20 years ago it was getting 15m viewers now its 4-5.  There's just been so much TV that eventually everything gets recycled and you've seen it all before and this leads to apathy and watching different stuff.

Its hard to have the same enthusiasm when you've seen every permutation of every matchup 1000x before.

Not that it wasn't great but that we cheered a guy (without that much love) silly for 2 moves and a 60 sec win says it all (cos it was different)

15 years ago a main event match booked like Brock vs berg (SS and WM)  would have been sh*t on if WWE served that up!

The 3rd hour of RAW has been a hinderance to them since they launched it in 2012. Its not coincidence RAW ratings began taking a massive drop year on year after they added the 3rd hour. They really need to cut down on shows I wouldn't really count Network only stuff like 205 Live and whatever since its only on the Network. They really need to put RAW back to 2 hours during the next TV contract negotiations which I think start at the end of this year into early 2018 but I doubt they will unless they find a way to supplement the income they get for the hour. All they have ever really needed is 4 hours for RAW and Smackdown combined.

I think the problem is that the Raw after Mania has become overhyped. It was shit last year. If you find Raw to be FF material every week, then half the Raw after Mania still will be.

The excitement is in the debuts, turns and returns. I thought this was a good one overall.

I think it lost all its luster after WWE started playing it up. It was all well and good in 2012 and 2013 before the company caught onto it. But with 2014 onward its been overhyped as you said and the shows just haven't delivered.

That guy who does the podcast with Meltzer (Alvarez I believe?) sounds like an absolute cunt.

He can be pretty annoying at times. Apart from the Dave shows the audio quality on F4W has declined a fair bit over the last few years. Used to be really good 10 years ago when there were much more guests on Figure Four Daily and Bryan & Vinny was actually entertaining.

Started watching the Edge collection last night. Some interesting bits early on. A squash with Meng on WCW Saturday Night and a dark match with Christian - although that has Matt Striker involved in commentary.

These collections annoy me because they're so vague. I don't want every segment off every show but with Edge, there are only about 3 bits from 2000. There are tons of skits and stuff that should be on an Edge collection from 2000. They could easily do it.

The vast majority of the Edge collection was just taken from his first DVD from 2008 so I was a bit disappointed with that fact

They did something in Australia, Global Warning. I know it got a DVD release, was it on TV or PPV in Australia?

Looking at Wikipedia it says it was just a live event that was later released on DVD so no PPV in Australia. First WWE event in Australia since 1986 as well. I guess there was enough star power with Rock and Triple H on the show to warrant them doing 56,000 people for a stadium show.

I don't know if this extends to next week, but somebody mentioned on the previous page that WWE 2K17 is free on Xbox One for the next few days.

But to answer your question, I hated the game and probably won't get another unless they dramatically improve. The WWE games have somehow regressed in my opinion- they're difficult to play/grasp and not fun.

They really need to dump Yukes. 2K should be doing this the way they do their NBA games. Yukes haven't bought much good to the series and they are the link between THQ and 2K so no surprise the games haven't had a huge jump in quality since the move to 2K. While I like the simulation aspect of sport games the application of simulation in the WWE games isn't great. They need to find a fine line between the arcade style game play of the earlier THQ games and the simulation feel of the 2K games.

The game modes are awful as well. Career Mode is a joke and you just end up wrestling the same 3-4 guys all the time. I have done nothing but wrestle Seth Rollins, Rusev, Baron Corbin and Finn Balor in 2K17 its just tedious as all hell. Universe Mode has just been a joke since the mode was introduced. So yeah big changes need to be made but they wont be made.

The Justice League film is rumoured to be 2hr 50min long, once again confirming that Zack Snyder doesn't know how to pace or edit his own stuff.

If Justice League has the same reception as Batman vs. Superman did I really hope they just drop Snyder from their cinematic universe period. But I doubt they do that.

I always thought the TV they did do in Japan (05 was it?)  was considered a failure and put them off doing it again.

Yeah they did Japan in early 2005. But didn't they do TV in Europe in 2007. Wasn't the RAW they debuted Santino in Italy. I don't they could ever swing doing any sort of TV in Australia just because of the time difference.
