Hold on, what the hell have I missed? Go away for a week's holiday and I come back to hear Yoel Romero Vs Paulo Costa has been booked? Really? Jesus Christ, Michaelangelo's David Vs The Brazilian Oak, right there in MSG. That fight came out of left field, for me.

They're packing 230 and MSG out with Middleweights.

    Rockhold v Weidman 2

    Romero v Costa

    Brunson v Adesanya

... any more? Sure there was.

  2. I think it would be wise for Eleven Sports to pick and choose their moments with PPVs like Sky Sports used to do with WWE.  I think the IFW, MSG and NYE cards are three that they could argue is worth putting behind the pay wall, plus the ad hoc one or two.

Sticking my hard hat on as I say this, but I really like Brendan Schaub's MMA podcast. The guy who produces it and has some input is an absolutely massive wetwipe and Schaub's opinions are always OTT, but fundamentally he knows his stuff and pays due attention to stuff I'd consider important in MMA. Two hours a week seems about right for my tastes as well.

I like Schaub too. Sure, he looks like Emre Can on steroids and comes across thick as fuck sometimes, but generally I think his enthusiasm is great and he is likable. I understand he's apparently said some controversial shit.

  4. Fuck me, poor old Robert Whittaker doesn't sell does he.  His first fight with Romero flopped on ppv too (I think it was supposed to be the co-main with Amanda Nunes, who withdrew).

I feel for him because the run he's been on has been brilliant to watch.

  5. I've grown a bit tired of the MMA Hour of late but the interview with Jared Flash Gordon was something else. Couldn't believe my ears throughout - the man's been through (and put himself through) enough to make a trilogy of movies.  The part where he basically admitted the burglary allegation was extraordinary, not sure how wise that was but it was compelling listening.

  6. Was that Torrie Wilson next to Goldberg's missus?

I streamed Raw during work but had to miss the promo due to a call.  I thought it would suck until I seen these comments. Just wow! Obviously you could see how moved he was, and how happy at how it went, but I think his clear surprise made it what it was.

Could this be the best part-time, old-time return since....?

  7. Loved the end of Raw. I felt like a 10-year-old kid (in the midst of the attitude era) again.  I had a sneaky feeling of who would walk out with the belt, but I loved the OMGness of the finish.

Aside from a Titus O'Neill and Darren Young feud, RAW is at it hottest for quite some time for me. certainly if you take out Wrestlemania seasons, I have never been quite so eager to tune in.

  8. Are the Dudleyz retired then? That is piss weak from WWE if that is the last we see of them.  I'm not saying three-hour tribute, but they deserve a send-off. Loved their work in the last year in putting over younger guys - while the other Attitude era stars turn up once a year at Mania for a pay day while kicking the shit out of the same younger guys. I'm hoping it is a fake retirement and they have one last face run to keep Gallows and Anderson away from Enzo and Cass.

  9. I think 09/05/16 Raw is the most I've enjoyed in ages. It's definitely the least amount of fast forward I've ever done with the remote in the past year, when I started watching bits of Raw again.

I think they are on to a winner with Cass.  I just don't think he yet realises how good he is and once he gets the belief they clearly have him in, will be a maintstay on Raw.  I must say though - his promos have not been as forceful since coming to the main roster. Is he a little overawed by the 10k crowds in big arenas perhaps?

AJ and the Bullet Club mk2 is so cool. Potentially the best stable since the Shield. AJ has come into his own since the arrival of 'his boys'.
