  1. How much stock does everyone put in the supposed meaning of dreams? I quite often look up what something I've dreamt about and what it's supposed to mean, sometimes they make sense but often it seems like a lot of pish.

I ask because last night I was deep in thought about how I feel like I'm not in charge of my own life and how sick of it I am. I later dreamt that I was trying to get on a train but the small corridor between the door and the carriage kept getting narrower and I couldn't get into the carriage. People were shouting at me from behind because they wanted to get through but I was stuck. I ended up screaming out in anger and woke myself up. Supposedly the train signifies I'm trying to make a move in the right direction with my life, but the narrowing corridor signifies I don't have the freedom to actually do it, I'm being restricted because I'm not the one in control.

Like I said, I don't usually put a lot of stock into these things, but the supposed meaning of this dream is exactly what I was feeling before I went to sleep, and I probably wouldn't have been able to put it in such clear terms had I not looked up the meaning of the dream.

  2. After suffering a broken collarbone and dislocated shoulder (which to this day hasn't healed properly) in a backyard match 10 years ago, you'd think I would have learned to leave it to the pros. Nope. Last night I was messing about with some friends when I decided to whip off my jacket and give it an elbow drop a la Flair. I landed badly, my head and neck got so shaken up my glasses came flying off. Thought nothing of it at the time, but today a sore neck and headache among a couple of other minor niggles match all the symptoms of a mild case of whiplash. Fucking hell. Don't try this at home, kids.

  3. I've created 30 freaks and weirdos over the past few months in WWE 13 (probably the last WWE game I'll ever buy to be honest). I'm gonna film a simmed Royal Rumble match between them, and me and my mate are gonna record commentary for it. If it turns out decent (it probably won't) I might stick it on YouTube as "hype" for the actual Rumble, if I do where would be the best place to post it? It's not really a cool find but on the off chance it's actually funny some folk might get a kick out of it.

  4. Good shout on Poundland, I've found some right pish in there in the past. I can't resist a low budget film, the lower the better really. City Dragon is a personal favourite, me and my mate bought every copy we could find in Glasgow and gave them out as Christmas presents a couple of years ago.

I watched Big Hero 6 tonight and loved it. One part at the end had me near tears

although it was a fake-out, but I couldn't be too mad

Cinema trip tomorrow, probably seeing Birdman again. Foxcatcher is an option too, I think one friend even wants to brave Taken 3 *shudder*

  5. Cheers Ebb. That takes me back to the days of my local Global Video, checking out the covers of all the horror films and trying to imagine how they made half of that shit scary. There's still a Global Video building along the road from my mate's, it only closed for good a couple of years ago. Fell in love with Hollywood DVDs again a few years ago after picking up 6 for a fiver in That's Entertainment (which has since relocated and later shut down, dunno where to get my cheap crappy films now!)

  6. I saw Birdman last night, thought it was excellent. I'm a big Michael Keaton fan so to see him living up to the hype surrounding his performance in this film was great. I have nothing but praise for Edward Norton's performance as well, for as good as Keaton was Norton managed to steal the scenes they shared. A really beautiful film, I was worried the style of making it all look like it was one shot would end up being too gimmicky but it added a lot to the film overall. Easily slots into my top 5 films of 2014 (if we can even count it as that considering I saw it in 2015).

Probably gonna check out Foxcatcher tomorrow, was hoping to squeeze American Sniper in too but I didn't realise that's not out until next week.

  7. A bit late to the boat, but I finally picked up a copy in CeX for a tenner yesterday. Fucking steal. Looking forward to getting cracked into it, I haven't really played any GTA since Vice City.

  8. I had to leave work early yesterday because I was sick, probably unrelated but I was also feeling a bit stressed about the job too, I just started a few weeks ago and want to make sure I don't fuck things up. Anyway, the dream I had last night involved me feeling stressed about work, so I decided to pull a sickie the next day and go out with my mates to do whatever seemed like a laugh. I don't remember a whole lot about it apart from us ending up in some club and me getting off with the girl I fancy IRL.

I wake up this morning still feeling a bit like a stale room temperature turd so I call in sick to work. Shortly after I get a text from one of my mates to see what I'm up to today. Coincidence I'm sure, but it's interesting to think what could happen if I could find the motivation to get out of bed. Probably nothing and I'd likely park a custard in the poor girl's mouth if I did end up sucking face.

  9. Last night I watched Drew Struzan: The Man Behind The Poster. Even as a major film buff I had no idea just quite how many posters he'd designed over the years, or that his first big break came from creating album covers for the likes of Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath. Struzan himself seems like a man who was too nice for Hollywood, that's touched on at one point when he talks about a business partnership he ventured into with a father and son team who took full advantage of his naivety. The talking heads are mostly great, the passion that guys like Spielberg and Darabont have for his work makes it an enjoyable watch because I feel the same way about his art. I particularly enjoyed Guillermo del Toro's stories of getting Struzan to paint posters for a few of his films knowing fine well the studios wouldn't use them, he just had to have them for himself.

The doc ran maybe a bit too long considering the subject matter, it felt like a lot of the same ground was being covered over and over, I even noticed the repeated use of a couple of Harrison Ford's talking heads, probably because he was so high he couldn't think of anything more to say. And I'll always feel a little uncomfortable seeing Michael J Fox in situations like this, obviously it's great for him that he still wants to do things like this but I didn't know where to look when he was on screen. In all though, a highly recommended watch if you're a fan of Struzan's artwork, which I imagine most of you posting in this thread will be.

Seeing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes today (hopefully, was meant to go on Thursday but it was sold out, then plans for yesterday got cancelled so third time better be the charm), been hearing nothing but great things about it and I loved Rise so I'm looking very forward to it.
