  1. Gave probably my best interview performance ever on Tuesday, ticked pretty much every box, had a great rapport with the interviewer, was told they'd get back to me next week-ish. Two days later, rejected. Just stumped. No idea what went wrong. I feel like I want to give up and go in a whole new direction now. Every single PR, copywriting, social media or whatever other job I'm qualified and experienced for seems to have something unidentifiable that trips me up. I fall just short every single bloody time and I'm sick of this horrible feeling. To the point where, despite everyone in the profession I know constantly having a horrible time, I'm genuinely thinking about training to teach. Because there seems to be an omnipresent consensus that I can't fucking do.

Get feedback. Jump up and down (politely) to ensure they know you really wanted it and need critique to understand why someone else was chosen.

I've got my last two jobs through this method, weirdly enough.

  2. Finally got round to popping Netflix on to watch Seven Psychopaths on Sunday night. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and one of those flicks I'm going to watch a second time, with the knowledge it'll be a different film this time round. Everyone playing themselves tickled me thoroughly for some reason - the whole movie was almost one big joke on the in-joke genre, and I liked it :)

  3. I was just listening to an old Review a Wai where Jimmy Hart told a story of Hogan and him meeting Simon Cowell in '94 to do a cover of "Leader of the Gang" for a UK release. I'd have loved for that to have existed, if only for a video that, in all probability, would have featured Hogan grabbing Gary Glitter in a headlock as children stood around and cheered.

    Ahem

    Outstanding work.

  4. In the late 70s the BBC had a show where ordinary people try to do a particular job. In this episode a teacher tries to become a pro wrestler. It turns out it's not all fun and games.

The punchline is that although in the show Max Crabtree picks the guys opponent, it was actually producer Esther Rantzen who chose him. She looked at some pictures of wrestlers and picked the one who looked smallest and least like to cause serious damage.

The man she picked was John Naylor.

    From Wigan.

    Great find.

    Kudos. Loved that.

  5. Thought the girls match was great. Paige looked the business.

KO/Hero looked horrific. Didn't look comfy in his own skin, and the gimmick is a nightmare. Match was pretty standard.

Pretty sold on Rollins - enjoying his work, and the heavy metal gimmick works for me - he's carrying it like he means it, which is most the battle.

Ashamed to say that Jinder Mahal is one of the few guys ever to drop into my "instantly fast forward" category.

  6. This sounds rather bloody good, with the exception of some of the FCW shitarse crew (Jason Jordan, Kassius Ohno, CJ Parker, The Ascension, Aiden English and Jinder Mahal). No Maxine or Kaitlyn either?

Woah!!!! Careful now. The Ascension are amazing, and half the problem they have had in FCW is the fact that they are lit wrong (I know that sounds weird, but it's true). I'm gagging to see them get a proper TV entrance, which could look amazing *Cough* *Damned Nation* ;)
