An episode of Jonathan Ross's "Incredibly Strange Film Show" dedicated to El Santo.

I remember reading for years that Lex Luger was born in Germany, but apparently that isn't true.

Was Layla even billed as being British? I didn't even know she was from here until well into her WWE run.
Â
Paige being the greatest British female wrestler of all time is a bit of a stretch. Yes she was a featured performer on WWE TV which gives her far massive exposure all round the world. But I would say the likes of Mitzi Mueller and Klondike Kate had a far better shout at that distinction.

I would imagine that was the card for when it was it was planned to be held in Washington DC.

Always amazes me that Buzz Sawyer was only 32 when he died. He'd only just turned 24 for this match. He was younger than most of the Nitro era stars of WCW in the late 90s.

Because they wanted people to pay money to see the feud ending match.

Seth Rollins is a reckless worker, he can't stop hurting other wrestlers or even himself.

Amazing number of HOFers and general legends in this clip from 1976 AWA:

Muhammad Ali vs Buddy Wolfe. With Verne Gagne as referee. Freddie Blassie in Ali's corner. Dick the Bruiser in Wolfe's corner. Vince McMahon in the ring at the end. Howard Cosell on commentary.

Can someone remind me, do Jon and Sansa know that Littlefinger betrayed Ned? Does Arya know?Â

GCW was Georgia Championship Wrestling which had the TV show on TBS called "World Championship Wrestling". JCP is Jim Crockett Promotions which ran the Mid-Atlantic territory. The Georgia Promoters sold out to Vince McMahon in 1984 and then Vince sold the promotion to Jim Crockett, which is how Georgia and Mid-Atlantic became one promotion, which was commonly known as the NWA. Then that promotion became WCW after Turner bought it in 1988.

Is there any chance of ever getting classic AJPW footage on this?Â

Saint should go in the WWE HOF. Maybe he will if they ever have WM in London.

Never understood why Vince is so afraid of history. SuperBowl 50 was massive simply because it was the 50th one. Yet they won't even acknowledge WrestleMania numbers anymore because Vince doesn't want it to seem like something "old".

Who is this Stuart Carapola that has about a ton of wrestling e-books on amazon?

Samoan Swat team absolutely destroy some jobbers, makes me laugh when people say squash matches were boring and the parity booking we have today is more interesting to viewers.

Buzz Sawyer advertises his highly reputable wrestling school.

Mark Gullen introduces the mighty Teijo Khan to Memphis wrestling. WWE badly misses both managers and introductory vignettes like this today.

Is Jonny Gould the same guy that used to present Baseball on Channel 5?

2 points. When people moan about politicians being sterile and boring, not having no lives or life experience outside or before politics, surely this is the opposite of that? I'm not a big fan of Cameron, but also not someone who blames the Tories for everything wrong with the country, but I'd rather someone who had fun and did stupid things as a student instead of a lot of the people that are involved in student politics today and spend their youthful lives virtue signalling and being worthy.
And surely it's to Cameron's credit that he didn't allow Ashcroft to buy his way into the cabinet, despite him having all this dirt on him?

The PTBN stuff is the best wrestling audio out there now, particularly Between the Sheets and Exile on Badstreet. F4W/WON is stale as hell, it's been the same people for years now and they are all played out.

I was waiting for Fin to use "this writer" as a pronoun in the book, to be fair to him, it didn't come up for quite a while.

I would think Terry and Dory Funk teamed up early in their careers.

Didn't some random American wrestling come up in ITV regional programming in the 80s?
-
Reading the Ebook now and it is excellent.

Only just realised that the new Johnny Storm was Wallace in the Wire. How do they explain him and his sister being different races in the film? Adopted?

Rick Steiner was never nWo, was he? He looks to have moved on from wrestling now, good for him, better than still walking around living the gimmick at 50 or 60 years old.
