When they first came in, they had great matches with the Kings. Their whole title run was full of mediocre matches and when we had a whole year of the Kings having brilliant defences on a regular basis, the fans turned on them.

 

Not to mention their God awful promos trying to 'hype' up the Briscoes match at Final Battle.

 

I'm glad they've embraced the negative reaction towards them and turned them heel, gives them another angle to come from and I think that's what they needed.

 

They do need to start having Shelton wrestle more singles matches though, Haas is the problem as he's so boring and slow in the ring.

Not a big fan of 'best of' DVDs but I might have to get the Steen one depending on what matches they put on there.

 

Will have to get that last HDNet Vol too.

 

Can't wait for the Battle of the Carolinas DVD to turn up, really looking forward to watching it.

At the time, I was just looking for experience and had contacted numerous magazines and newspapers. I would of course researched the magazine and its style if I had been asked to write for them.

 

If anything, his rude manner put me off buying the magazine although from reading this thread, it's not up to much anyway.

All interaction I've had with Fin has been very negative. I'm a sports journalist and e-mailed him a few times regarding possible freelance work and he didn't reply which is rude enough. I sent another one a few months later and he gave me a snotty response along the lines of, "Look, there are just no writing jobs at PowerSlam, get it?".

 

As others have said, he just seems like a very bitter man with no happiness in his life at all. If PS ever hits the deck then I've no idea where he'll get his sad little kicks from.

I was just saying that my interactions with him all point to him being a dick when he had no reason to be.

Bloody hell! I had completely forgotten that this show had even taken place. I used to be a massive ROH fan but to say that my attention in the product has waned would be a massive understatement.

 

Does anyone remember if the show was any good? The line up is not that great considering Glory By Honor is/was usually one of ROH's bigger events of the year.

 

It's quite a strong card and I think general consensus from people that were there was that it was a good show.

Not sure how many of you have watched the 'Gateway To Honor' DVD but Kevin Kelly's commentary was terrible.

 

He once again called the wrong move the Lethal Injection. To make matters worse, Lethal actually shouted "LETHAL INJECTION!" before hitting the handspring cutter but Kelly insisted on calling the top rope elbow drop it too.

 

He then said that Generico had a World Title match against Davey Richards coming up at Death Before Dishonor. Huh?

 

And top top it all off, he persistently called the show 'Gateway of Honor'. I normally don't mind Kelly's commentary but this was a bit far!

Final Battle was very average - not like ROH at all. The main event was just awful. I completely disagree with the criticisms about the booking though, it's been top notch since Delirious took over, the only criticism I have of him and Cornette is Final Battle, it was just a complete mess.

Me making a joke not notice that bit? I'm only fucking around, gave that site a lil gander liked the 5 future improvements article. I haven't watched Final Battle but the constant criticisms have really put me off, I hope they turn a corner with the Baltimore taping/Philly homecoming and the 10th anniversary show (that's in NYC yeah?) Plus the Chikara involvement at Philly could be pretty cool.

No, I didn't! Fair enough and yeah, it's a good piece.The first half of the show was great but the second half was just overkill. The gauntlet match was just 'meh' and was really predictable. The Briscoes/WGTT match was just a mess and came off awful although at least the Briscoes won and ended one of, if not the worst, title run in ROH history. The main event was terrible. They tried to outdo 'Best In The World' which, in my opinion, was near enough perfect. They had all the build up with Severn and the Dragon Sleeper and neither came into play, just made no sense whatsoever. I wouldn't recommend it if I'm honest. 'Death Before Dishonor IX' was much better even though there were no title matches and no Davey.The TV taping sounded ok, some weird booking decisions again but we'll see how they come off on TV. Yeah, the 10th Anniversary show is in NYC. They should have had the Philly Homecoming show as the 10th Anni show too and stuck it on iPPV - they really missed the boat on that one.I know next to nothing about Chikara but freshening things up can only be a good thing.

He was on one of the HDNet Tapings too. I believe he faced Daniels but not 100% sure. He defeated 'Antonio Thomas' in a dark match last night. Is that the same Antonio Thomas of 'Heart Throbs ' fame?
