  1. Apologies if this has already been posted.Injured American veteran walks again and loses a LOT of weight with help from DDP:

    That's fucking awesome.
The guys achievement is absolutely briliant and massive but what exactly did DDP do? The only time you see him in the video is at the start, did the guy just use a DDP Yoga DVD or something?
He used the DDP dvds and spoke to/emailed him on a regular basis for advice and pep talks. So Page coached him and helped out.
You know what? That's genuinely fucking brilliant. DDP has found something outside of wrestling that is so much more important and inspirational, fair play to him. And that's an amazing transformation. I'd love to send that to my mate who's very overweight and immobile, but he's just not ready to try and change his life.
Fucking hell that is so amazing to see. Not being funny might have to give this a go and see what I can do as im a bit of a lard arse. I'm always busy with work and don't have time to piss about at a gym, yoga indoors would be cool. Plus i used to do martial arts when i was younger and was super felxible, still am for a fat bloke (on some Sammo Hung shit) but would love to get better.
  2. I think what is special about Ring of Honor is that 10 years on from its inception, and they still can't stream a wrestling show on the internet or get the lighting correct. That takes something out of the ordinary to be that clueless.

Its moments of clarity that make me feel like a bit of a div liking ROH. Not saying I'm swayed by Ians posts or whatever but its those silly rubbish mistakes that make it look wank. Sorry I like a bit of bells and whisltes with me grappling at times.
  3. With Richards it seemed the fans really bought into him, his persona and whole "I train, I hunt, I win" vibe. He played a tough bastard (today's standards) during his American Wolves run but the way they book champions can be pretty harmful. Too many defenses and far too long reigns the attitude that every ROH champ should fight every challenger and hold the belt for ages is damaging, especially when the fans cry out for a long run then complain that they have gone stale.

The problem is also what makes ROH kinda cool is the fan interaction and involvement, naming teams, naming DVDs and influencing the title contenders. Yes that last part happens in all promotions if a guy is hot and drawing in decent crowds the belt really should be on him or he should be near it. But it got to the point before the SBG buyout and the forum shutting down where it was like certain fans were trying to take the booking and company hostage. Total fucking hissy fits along the lines of "If X,Y & Z happens, we riot!"

Also it won't help when your champ swans off to Japan to live out his Puro fighting sprit fetish. Fuck and I used to like old American Wolf style Richards, granted this has allowed Steen to run off some great material! Which probably has been due to them taking notice of how Richard's current gimmick/attitude aint going down so great.

Any shit spelling/grammar I apologise, typing on phone on my lunch.

  4. Surely that's just Roderick Strong photoshopped in twice.

Roderick Strong can't actually be photographed. It just comes up as a beige-ish blur.

I'm digging the use of Elgin and Cole.. see both these lads stand out a bit aswell, got the mini tank Elgin and his ace mullet and Coles got those ace trunks (and white boots!) I could definitely seeing them fellas holding titles in the next 2 years.

  5. People talk about about people in WWE looking generic and cookie cutter, well in ROH the main event scene looks exactly the same.

Richards has the belt, so I know which one that is., But the other two are fucking identical. Mike Bennett should bleach his hair and take his rightful place above those three.

But Bennett can't work the ROH style~!

You're well and truly on the mark with Bennett, Red trunks, blonde hair and white boots. He would look absolute money! I like the way him and Maria co-ordinate their gear, looks nice and professional.

I have noticed pretty much every bloke in ROH is a white lad with short brown/black hair, they need a bit more variety.

  6. What a strange thing to say. Don't we always hope there are no injuries?

I think he means due to the PPV being Sunday. Also I'm gutted the Briscoes and papa Briscoe against the HOT isn't being taped. The guy was the nada last time and it's a bit of light relief to the super serious business of ROH.

  7. 10 years ago today, a paedo and a guy who looks like a paedo created a wrestling company... for paedos.

    Paedo.

This had me creasing up! If ROh were a person would RF chat it up on line yet? Or would he wait a little longer say 4-6? Oh you said "18" wink wink nudge nudge.

  8. Match announced for the 10th Anniversary show:

House Of Truth vs Amazing Red and TJ Perkins, so thats the name from the early days. Anyone else able to turn up? So that's 3 tag matches now, I like tag matches but some times it can be a bit over kill with the same tricks and tactics.

It's only $10, what that's like 7 quid? Yeah I'll be getting it anyways.

  9. I'll leave it to Only The Strong Survive to post the box art and listing, but I see they announced yesterday that Final Battle 2011 is going to be a 2 DVD set featuring the first DVD footage of the Sinclair TV show..

Great idea, Gives the build up to Final Battle.

Got round to watching Southern Defiance last night, They now use TV graphics, New menu with highlights running, Match card before each match, Interviews in a TV style, Widescreen, Better commentary and its in widescreen! It looks brilliant, Now they just need to use this formula on iPPVs

This is really good news.. moving in the right direct direction. Baby steps otherwise if everything went in one go at full speed it would be a total fuck up, Its cool seeing things progress and change. Like with the TV shows I'm certainly enjoying it much more, a bit of variety with the matches as well at first it was two tag matches or two singles matches and it felt very samey to me. Thankfully they are mixing it up now and the Steen story line is picking momentum, still haven't got round to watching this weeks episode.

  10. They haven't been shit or anything just not captivating. Also these boys have been in the big leagues working with a real professional crew and top talkers yet they still cant cut promos for toffee. Haas's "What he said" closing statement is cack! That only works when one of the team says something totally incoherent or in a foreign language.

    Loads of tag teams fuck of promos like that e.g;

Bloke A - says stuff, while bloke B stands making faces and being silent.

Bloke B - says stuff, now Bloke A keeps overreacting or changing his facial expressions, then buts in at the end with some crap one liner.

But yeah I agree with ROHSteven, least they have noticed a deterioration in reactions so you gotta roll with it and make its something fresh.

The Mania weekend poster looks pretty good, as some of the recent one for their "important" shows have been bog standard howlers.- Im glad they are bit by bit upping the game in this sense, DVD covers have looked nice as well.Obviously dont pay attention to the black bar bit on the side.. but if this poster was slapped up on a wall it would get you to look and read it and possibly look into what it was about- which is a key part of promotion that people forget, cant keep preaching to the choir.

  12. Watching the 21/01/12 episode- Fucking hell! Dem Boys are over like rover. Them coming out felt a bit more entertainment-esque not a drawn out PURE SPORTS BUILD~!! Not saying I have a problem with the competitive side or the initial sporting aspect but I still wanna have a bit of fun with my wrestling. Currently the Briscoes are supplying via the youtube channel and this appearance etc.

  13. This has reminded me to watch it online, while I am bored at work today.

    Cool story bro...

    Funny reply bro..

It was more due to the fact I had previously kept forgetting to watch the episodes online and spoke about my lack of enthusiams for watching it on time. I guess I could of added that in my earlier comment via the edit but didn't. Also it seems they are taking the episodes "on the road" As the current episode that's available is from the Southern Defiance show in South Carolina, so is that the deal now a mix of the stuff specifically taped for TV shows and highlights from house shows on other episodes between? Might help with continuity, if this is the case.

  14. Anything really. like you said the guy's an asset- like how in the thread about boys in the back/locker room leaders he can be the go to guy with the years of knowledge, well can be? He is that bloke but yeah keeping him in a spot like that is what could really help these guys. Will they listen? or will they do stuff like that gif file shows?

I remember he and Bennet had a little program (few matches was it not?) and this was when the ROH Forum was still going and a lot of them shat all over it. I think a smart move by SBG was getting rid of that- yes connecting with the fans is great and can be brilliant market research but it can influence far too much as it was obvious. Also I've never minded Bennet, yeah hes green blah blah blah but the dude looks impressive, the tan, the build the looks etc (my only qualm is the last time i saw him his hair was always too long and looked a mess if your playing the whole entertainer/superstar/corporate dream kinda gimmick then you gotta look sharp as fuck!) Weird hang up but odd details bug me, I can let someone being a bit green or the odd botch slide as when I am watching wrestling I like the whole suspension of belief so I dont like the whole rating/critique attitude some fans have when watching it. So that would be a cool re-visit.

  15. Both are too good at being heels! But yeah as much as I love Corinos dickhead mic work as a heel (One that I can remember when he was mentoring/managing Steen, and they were both doing commentary whilst Steen was beating up some jobber, cracking stuff) But yeah it wouldn't make sense for him to be slagging the faces off yet... Where as McGuiness can really do the cock piss-aker gimmick great and he was a heel at the end of his ROH wrestling career. Plus everyone noticed how at first the show was a bit too Kevin Kelly heavy so three lads on the mic they can spread out the face time a little.

  16. Just chuck Corino on commentary, him McGuiness and Kelly - 3 man commentary would be pretty rad. Didn't the southern promotions back in the territories opt for a 3 man approach? Then you can have 2 colour guys (one more heel one more face) alongside a play by play guy just calling the match.

  17. Final Battle was very average - not like ROH at all. The main event was just awful. I completely disagree with the criticisms about the booking though, it's been top notch since Delirious took over, the only criticism I have of him and Cornette is Final Battle, it was just a complete mess.

The guy with the ROH avatar and sig praising it - who woulda thought it eh?
"Final Battle was very average... the only criticism I have of him and Cornette is Final Battle, it was just a complete mess."Not see those bits?
Me making a joke not notice that bit? I'm only fucking around, gave that site a lil gander liked the 5 future improvements article. I haven't watched Final Battle but the constant criticisms have really put me off, I hope they turn a corner with the Baltimore taping/Philly homecoming and the 10th anniversary show (that's in NYC yeah?) Plus the Chikara involvement at Philly could be pretty cool.
