  1. Here are my pics from St. Valentine's Day Massacre in 1998. Not the greatest ever but they were taken on a Kodak 35mm, scanned in at my local camera shop and have laid on a CD for nearly 20 years in some weird format that I have just converted to JPG. Brings back some great memories, even penned a little blog post about it that will go live on Tuesday morning (will post the link).

  2. I can't help but feel they have booked themselves into a corner now with Joe.

If the end game is Trips v Rollins at Mania and Joe v Rollins at Fastlane then they will want to keep Rollins strong for Trips at Mania, so does that mean Joe loses his first big match or only wins it because Hunter interferes.

And then what for Mania? Perhaps they go down the Joe v Styles route if they go for the inter-promotional match or maybe Joe v Balor with Finn coming back and demanding a title shot and the Authority telling him he has to get through Joe first?

  3. I watched the 2007 one for the first time tonight.

It starts off quite well with Flair, Finlay, Edge, Kane, Booker and Orton catching the eye but soon gets dragged down by loads of dead wood and they're just waiting to get HBK in there.

It's ditto until Khali comes in and you can sense the fear of dread in the Texas crowd that it looks like Khali is going to win the thing and it's almost a relief pop when Taker comes out.

I really like the difference with the final four in that it's almost like two mini-matches for the final stretch, Rated RKO v Taker/HBK and then Taker v HBK.

Been watching some random Network stuff tonight. Bring It To The Table (?) - the new show that I really don't get, they're going for a shoot thing picking on internet fans but just come off looking a bit out of touch with JBL and Heyman in character both ranting and raving.

Legends with JBL with Alundra/Madusa was different. Interested in her thoughts on the Trish/Lita era, mainly she didn't really rate Trish as a wrestler and felt she was just in the right place at the right time. Also that Madusa was homeless before her WWF run, with Vince paying off an outstanding tax bill for her when she signed and Vince's regret at letting her go and that it was explained as a cost-cutting measure.

On ECW's 50 OMG Moments now. I can deal with ECW from the 90s in bitesize chunks, so this ideal.

  4. What are your Hall of Fame picks for this year?

I've seen DDP and Rick Rude heavily rumoured, also seen Daniel Bryan heavily fancied on some sites.

    I think it will be:

Headliner: The Rock (thinking it would be good to induct him in Florida)

    DDP

    Rick Rude

    Vader

    Tag Team: The Dudley Boyz

Woman: Sable (makes sense with Brock around)

    Celebrity: Motorhead

Warrior Award: Kris Travis (I think the UK stuff could help make this happen)

  5. First episode of 205 Live I've watched this week and I thought it was a decent enough show.

Plus points were Neville's clinic, Noam Dar in the slimy sleazeball role and I actually think Gulak and Nese have potential as an old school heel tag team in the Revival mould, I also enjoyed the Gentlemen's Duel.

I read a review that said the matches didn't get enough time but I think it's the other way. To differentiate the guys from the main rosters, I think everything needs to be a bit more smash mouth and, dare I say, spotty? They could have easily shaved five minutes off the main event and a couple off the opener and not lost anything from the matches. I just think the show needs to be a bit more fast-paced, not just in terms of in-ring action but also delivery of the actual show.

  6. Anyone think they will do two Rumbles this year with the brand split?

Just done a little mathematics and if they have some guys pull double duty, throw in some cruiserweights to the RAW side and some special guests to the SD side then they can make 30 guys for each brand.

In fact I could see them doing three Rumbles and having a Women's one with everyone not a champion in it. They could easily pull off a 15-woman Rumble.

With it being the Alamodome and likely to be a marathon event on the WWE Network, I could see it being something they do to really hammer the Rumble concept into the ground,

  7.

I love that Fuji is in his pre-93 garb for this tour.

That's the first thing I immediately thought of (which may say a lot about us as people). I can only think that Japanese flag waving Fuj wasnt what they wanted on this tour, because he may have been a babyface. Sneeky walking stick swinging 80s Fuji was the order of the day on those Japanese tours. Also love the beginning of the season footy team photo vibe of it. Get the big lads at the back. Get the woman, the dwarf and X-Pac on the floor.

I just noticed all the heels are on one side and all the faces on the other...apart from Bob Backlund, obviously foreshadowing his heel turn that summer.

I think the Shrinkers wrestled heel on that tour, although they'd turned face back in the US.

  8.

On a similar note didn't the same theme the Hollywood Blondes used also end up as the theme for Jake Roberts, Hardcore Hak, Blitzkrieg, Marty Janetty and a fuck-ton of other people.

Blitzkrieg and Marty definitely used it. Hak used to come out to Mongo's old music.

Greg Valentine used it in his short run with WCW around 1997.

  9. 3c7fc1be.jpg

    the crew in 94-95?

Looks like this is from the Post-Mania X Japanese Tour that had the brilliant Savage-Bret title match on it and Taker winning a Royal Rumble.

Clockwise from the front: Alundra Blayze, Dink, Doink, 1-2-3 Kid, Tatanka, Randy Savage, The Smoking Gunns, Bret, Bearer, Taker, Tenryu, Yoko, Bam Bam, Fuji, Adam Bomb, The Headshrinkers, Owen, Backlund, Rick Martel.

I love that Fuji is in his pre-93 garb for this tour. Can't believe they took Adam Bomb on a Japanese tour!

  13. What were amongst the best "coliseum home video exclusive" vhs tapes from the 80's and 90's for pure match quality ?

Wham Bam Bodyslam doesn't get much love but it has Bret & Davey v. Owen & Anvil, Razor v JJ for the IC belt and Bret v Owen in a lumberjack match for the WWF Title

Bloopers, Bleeps and Bodyslams has Owen v Rick Martel from late-93, Razor & Marty v IRS & Diesel and Shawn and Marty in a cage

Wrestlefest 94 is brilliant. Shrinkers v Kid & Marty for the tag belts is very underrated, as is Diesel v Bret from before Mania X. Razor v Shawn is a good match and the Harts/Steiners tag is off the charts

I liked Inside the WWF too - Shawn & Diesel v Razor & Marty is a good match, Bret/Yoko in the cage is one of their better outings

I love me some Coliseum Home videos because each one (in my opinion) has a match worth watching, either for quality or historical content - some of the combinations you got would be considered dream matches between two guys that never feuded in WWF.

  14. never really been a fan of Green Day, bit of a weird one for me really because they were one of the bands that everyone loved when i was a mid-teen getting into music, i liked pretty much everyone else except Green Day. The only album i own is Kerplunk! They've got some belting tunes but ive never really became a fan.

I actually liked Warning when it came out which considered a disaster but ever since Amerian Idiot ive lost all interest altogether, it just does nothing for me. I aint actually heard the two albums but i don't like any of the singles.

    Great live band though.

See, I disagree. I've seen them twice live, once on the International Superhits Tour and once on the American Idiot tour and both times they were dire.

Spent too much time arseing about with a big pink rabbit, extended musical interludes, which was just them playing the riff of a song over and over again and then pratting about getting stage member up to play a song.

Sets were incredibly short and there were tonnes of songs out of the catalogue that they could have played but they didn't.
