  8. Really good read this month, especially Nikki Storm's Japanese diary. But why (oh why oh why) did you think printing Nick Aldis's apology for a racist was a good idea???

The column is supposed to reflect Nick's life and the things that he believes to be important. 49 times out of 50 it'll be directly about pro wrestling, but on this occasion he wanted to write about the influence Trump (a WWE Hall of Famer) has had on the American electorate. I felt it was a fair piece that was more scathing of untrustworthy career politicians than "apologetic" for Trump.

I'm sure he'll personally explain his decision to write about this subject if you get in touch with him.

  9. Bought 121 at the airport last Thursday and it was great. Haven't bought any kind of wrestling magazine in a couple of years but definitely picking this up more often.

Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you.

I always enjoy FSM but never remember to buy it. Just taken a 6 month sub to put that right.

     Very much appreciated. Thanks!

    - Hulk Hogan, as FSM explains how the showbiz media works, and why the race row scandal isn’t the last of its kind in pro wrestling

    - “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, who as one of the greatest heels in the history of the business tells FSM exactly how he did it

    - Nikki Storm, as one of the UK's finest female grapplers keeps a diary of her three-month visit to Japan's STARDOM promotion

    - Tony St. Clair, as FSM talks to the second-generation wrestler about his career, and the fascinating characters he met along the way

  13. Brian, while you're answering questions about the mag... :)

Is there any reason why you don't print bylines for some of the pieces? The UK show reports & other small pieces are never credited.

It's mostly just a design thing, but often those pieces are representative of more than one opinion.

  14. Brian why not start a Q&A section in FSM? I always thought this was the one thing PS had which you didn't and I always enjoyed it.

I did test this without it going to print, but as Maverick implied, 99% of the questions sent in could be answered on Twitter in 140 characters.

  15. Thanks for the feedback, folks.

While there are occasionally elements of real-life thrown in, the premise of the One To Watch has always been to highlight the character you'll see if you attend a show, as opposed to, say, Simon from Leeds. The UK show reviews, on the other hand, are largely aimed at keeping people up to date with storylines, as it can be a lot harder for people to follow them than something that doesn't need too much explanation, like the last WWE pay-per-view. While it's true that I'd prefer to highlight the good than the bad, we've never said that anything objectively awful was great or even average.

All that said, the interest in more critical analysis of these articles is something I can think over, so I appreciate you bringing it up. :)

  16. Issue 120 of Fighting Spirit Magazine is now available!

    - Kurt Angle, as FSM steps off the beaten path to have a conversation with him about everything from learning to lead matches to the pros and cons of TNA's schedule.

    - The Briscoes as FSM examines their careers to show why they remain two of the most popular grapplers on the U.S. indy scene.

    - Kazuchika Okada, as FSM strains the language barrier to talk to the New Japan superstar at the Ring Of Honor supershows.

    - Lucha Underground as FSM talks to the participants to gauge the success of the show, and why it is important in a wrestling world desperate for new ideas.

    - Jimmy Havoc as FSM investigates his transformation from lovable brawler to sadistic walking nightmare.

    - Mitzi Mueller as FSM finds out about the barriers she had to break down to establish women’s wrestling in the UK.

All of this, plus our usual news, PPV and TV reports, and DVD and book reviews. 17. Brian why not start a Q&A section in FSM? I always thought this was the one thing PS had which you didn't and I always enjoyed it.

I looked into this and most of the questions that came in were as simple as Maverick implies, and could be answered on Twitter instead. I don't think that a page or two of that would've added to FSM.

By the way, thanks to everyone who purchased a print copy of Issue 119, as it's now sold out. I'm very grateful!

  18. Issue 119 of Fighting Spirit Magazine is now available!

  19. I have not bought the magazine for a while and thought I would check the latest issue out.

This was until I read the above post mentioning Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao.

Since when is this fight a wrestling or MMA fight?

I have zero interest in buying a boxing magazine.

It's the biggest combat sports match of all-time, the story of which bleeds into pro wrestling and MMA, and I felt it would be of interest to our readers. I'm not a huge rugby fan, but I'd certainly read a rugby article if its principles applied to football, for example, or sport in general.

On the basis of one article I don't think we're "a boxing magazine" quite yet! :)

In this month's edition, FSM has feature-length articles on:

    - Brock Lesnar, whose signature on a new WWE contract was the spark that WWE needed for WrestleMania and beyond

    - The crisis in WWE commentary, as FSM investigates whether this is damaging the relationship between company and customer.

    - Ric Flair, who in the 1980s was the kind of wild personality to perfectly represent pro wrestling as its World champion

    - Ring of Honor, as its ROH On Sinclair TV show is arguably the best weekly pro wrestling programme on air today

    - Dave Taylor, FSM demonstrates why fellow workers hold him in much the same regard as British legends William Regal and Fit Finlay

    - Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao as FSM looks down the long and winding road toward making the biggest money fight of all-time.

All of this, plus our usual news, PPV and TV reports, and DVD and book reviews. This month's issue also includes Jim Cornette's opinions on Bill DeMott and his resignation as WWE developmental Head Trainer; Nick “Magnus” Aldis on why the wrestling world should heed the words of Hall of Fame main-eventer Kevin Nash; and Rob Naylor on Sean “123 Kid/X-Pac” Waltman, who still has much to offer the business, in and out of the ring.

Furthermore, this month's issue also includes a heartfelt article by British star Kris Travis, who explains how he was diagnosed with stomach cancer, his subsequent surgery and convalescence, and how he is now planning a return to the ring.

    - The 10 Greatest WrestleMania Matches of All-time, as FSM's worldwide contributors argue over the best the show has had to offer.

    - Charlotte, as FSM investigates her success and asks whether the time is right for a call-up to the main roster.

    - Ray “The Crippler” Stevens, who has been bypassed for this year's WWE Hall Of Fame, but ought to be inducted as one of pro wrestling's all-time greats

    - Bobby Lashley, as he tells FSM of his desire to regain the TNA World title and hold Bellator’s MMA heavyweight belt at the same time.

    - The Tokyo Dome show of 20 years ago that, with 13 participating promotions, will surely never be equalled.

    - Drew McDonald, whose warmth and personality behind the scenes will never be forgotten by his peers.

All of this, plus our usual news, PPV and TV reports, and DVD and book reviews. This month's issue also includes Rob Naylor's recollection of his time as a fan of New Japan Pro Wrestling; Jim Cornette on how the absence of Ray “The Crippler” Stevens makes even more of a mockery of the WWE Hall of Fame; and Nick “Magnus” Aldis tells a delightful story about one match he had with the late Drew McDonald.

  22. I think the Silver Vision promo video in ingrained in my memory. Question, I always heard there was a second SV promo video sometime around 1992. Is that true because I've never seen it.

We're talking a 20-year old memory here but I believe I first saw the second SV promo video on WrestleFest '93.

    - William Regal, as FSM finds out about the early career of arguably the finest all-rounder Great Britain has ever produced.
