  1. So I'm off to the PTNTL and ENDVR cards tonight and tomorrow night. I work about ten minutes from the Bedford and it's a decent little venue so really looking forward to it.

How are the PTNTL shows normally? I've seen the ENDVR on demand but didn't know what to expect from the former?

  2.

I have a spare ticket for today. Someone let me down last minute, and can't resell. Give me a shout if you fancy coming along...

There's a discussion thread in the 'PROGRESS Wrestling Fans' Facebook group for show-day ticket resales - you might have some luck in there.

Cool thanks have requested to join...

I'm assuming he would of just followed Andrews route to the final and then go on to face Whiplash this weekend, so hopefully he's back and continuing that, he's match with Scrull a few months ago was great story telling.

The Scrull match is one of my favourites in recent memory. One thing I like about Progress is there is a clear divide between Face/Heel, which is quite rare in this day in age, and in the Scrull-Haskins match this is very evident and both play their roles so well. Would of loved to have seen his SSS16 day 2 performance, if he hadn't have got ill.

Have a word with yourself. That's not his name.

Also, stop typing "would of." Would HAVE.

Honest mistake, apologies, but glad you contributed, idiot.

Any idea what his theme is out of interest?

Haskins? It's 'Nowhere to Hide" by Crobot.

I also don't get this "underrated" thing either. He's been consistently presented at the very top of the UK scene since 2009 with those main events with Pac, Zack, Marty etc. and very much presented as DG:UK's home 'ace', and was hardly an unknown before that.

I maybe think it's a case where he 'disappeared' for a couple of years while he was contracted to TNA, so by the time he got back out there again things had moved on and there were a whole load of new stars, new high profile promotions and new fans.

    .

I think most of it comes from the renewed boom of the last year or so, where people all over the world are raving about Ospreay, Sabre Jr, Scurll, Havoc, End etc etc... but very few people are talking about Haskins. He hasn't been flown to the US or Japan. Yes we all know how good he is and what he can do, but outside of the UK scene he isn't being recognised as the leading talent that he is.

In terms of good Haskins matches, obviously the match against Ospreay was incredible but he also had great matches against Gibson at Chapter 25 and Scurll at Chapter 26.

The Scrull match is one of my favourites in recent memory. One thing I like about Progress is there is a clear divide between Face/Heel, which is quite rare in this day in age, and in the Scrull-Haskins match this is very evident and both play their roles so well. 5. I thought day 1 was actually the better card top to bottom. Haskin-Dunne was great, even better knowing the condition Haskins was in. Bit late to the Progress party, but the Haskins story being played out over the pass few months has been great, I'm assuming he would of just followed Andrews route to the final and then go on to face Whiplash this weekend, so hopefully he's back and continuing that, he's match with Scrull a few months ago was great story telling.

Chris Hero proved yet again why he's probably one of the best in the world at the moment. He had 3 different matches with 3 different types of wrestlers over the weekend and all were fantastic. His match with Mark Andrews deserves all the plaudits it's getting, great little man vs big man match, the big man match with Big Daddy Walters was a great big man match, but probably 3rd of his matches this weekend, and then the storyline driven match with Tommy End in a hard hitting match. Hero's Morishima-esque body type and aura just adds so much more than how he used to be, in my opinion. Hero Vs Villian, should sell itself, don't smell a title change unfortunately, but haven't finished Evolves shows this weekend so he might be coming in as Evolve champion anyway.

Zack Gibson grows on me show by show, and really liked his match with Kenny Williams. Never been a fan of Callian, like his work but not his gimmick so have trouble looking pass that, haven't seen Matt Cross since his Resilience days, outside of his look, still does his same old shtick and does it very well. And the Riots and Orgin was a well done brawl with lots of twists and turns and great to finish of London Riots rise to the titles over the pass few months following th SDS stuff. And Jack Gallagher is an awesome throwback and his day 2 he had a really good match with Gibson.

  6. Me and a mate of mine are off to Miami for a fortnight over Easter. We have got tickets for Heat-76ers, I'm a causal basketball fan at best, but looking forward to the experience. Anyone got any advice, dos and don'ts, hints or tips for going to a NBA game?

Also seeing Miami Marlins the day before so say question for that really?

  7. Put me in the Nitro camp too. Nitro (and latterly Thunder too), pause for breath then the Raw repeat over on Sky. At the time, it was brilliant.

In hindsight, a social life might have been preferable.

Thats right, Nitro at 9, Thunder at 11 and then the Raw repeat was 2am. I remembering having a 3 hour tape recording all 3 on long play, and having the adverts replaced with causal flicking of The Box, the first run Raw showing and whatever bollocks was on at that point.

Wasnt Robot Wars on at half 6 also?

  8. In fairness the tv was always loaded with squash matches.

The tapings also included Davey saying if he didnt win his next World title match, he would never challenge for it again. The announced Richards v Cabana for 9YAS. Prince Nana unveiled his new Embassy featuring Ciampa as the crown jewel.

The Top Prospect tournament is a decent way to introduce new faces even though it was bleeding obvious Bennett would win from his interactions with Daniels. Bennett had words with Steve Corino, who had been saying all along that O'Reilly would win, then attacked him.

Corino also put over Generico saying he was in for big things this year after what he went through the last year with Steen. Generico also gave "fist bumps" to King and Titus after helping them clear out the Kings, which the ROHbots have interpreted as officially marking the ANE face turn.

It was a poor response to the results on my part, extremely hanging today. I believe these are the last set of taping so i dont know where they would go with any of it anyway. They havent got another network yet so i doubt these shows will be anything but hype for the Wrestlemania weekend iPPV shows when they air. With them coming of HDNet, i dont think its wise to give away any free decent matches in the run up to the iPPV, so its more reason to buy the iPPVs. From Daveys comments i fully expect him to take the title at WM weekend. With ANX turning maybe the Briscoes will finally turn heel and make them watchable again, as i feel they have become very stale in the last 2 years. Another Crown Jewel, yawn. I think your right about Bennett due to his interaction with Daniels.

  9. Fuck it, the Final Battle PPV was less than a tenner and there was more really exciting action than any WWE PPV I'd watched for ages. I just dont seem to care about most of their guys anymore, or who wins the matches. I'll get both ROH's PPVs probably.

I'll still get WrestleMania admittedly. C'mon, it's WrestleMania.

Oh and I didnt see these posted so here are the taping results from last night.

    (1) El Generico & Colt Cabana beat The Bravado Brothers, Generico pinning Harlem after a brainbuster.

    (2) Steve Corino pinned Devon Storm with an abdominal stretch pin.

    (3) Marker Dillinger vs Mark Sterling went to a no-contest when Michael Elgin interfered.

    (4) Homicide pinned Mark Briscoe after a top rope Ace Crusher.

    (5) Kyle O'Reilly beat Jonathan Gresham with a triangle hold with elbow strikes.

    (6) Michael Elgin pinned Bobby Dempsey after a powerbomb.

    (7) World Television Champion Chris Daniels pinned Devon Storm after the Best Moonsault Ever.

    (8) Andy Ridge pinned Grizzly Redwood after a superkick when Redwood jumped off the top rope.

    (9) Mike Bennett pinned Adam Cole after a half nelson slam.

    (10) Claudio Castagnoli pinned Rhett Titus after a big boot.

    (11) Kenny King pinned Chris Hero with a jacknife pin.

    Todays results :

    (3) Mike Bennett pinned Andy Ridge after a half nelson slam.

    (4) Davey Richards beat Tony Kozina by stoppage.

    (7) Colt Cabana beat Caleb Konley with an inverted crab.

    (8) World Television Champion Chris Daniels pinned Kenny King after Abgel's Wings.

    (9) Tomasso Ciampa pinned Mike Sydal after a powerbomb onto the knees.

    (10) Mike Bennett pinned Kyle O'Reilly after a half nelson slam.

    (11) Davey Richards & The Briscoes beat Roderick Strong, Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli, Richards making Strong submit with a reverse figure four with ankle lock.

Last match was apparently 30 minutes-ish and quality.

These shows look very weak bar the second nights main...

  10. I have a copy of WrestleMania IX taped from Sky and the opening bout is Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake vs Money Inc. I dont know what Sky were playing at during that era, but some of the repeats had half the matches cut out.

Wrestlemania IX was shown live at midnight, I remember my mum recording it and watching as much as i could before school the next day..

  11. I've been currently watching through a 15 disc 'Best Matches in Nitro History' set I recently acquired. Reached 1997 and my word was Hector Garza more fun than I remembered. There was a six man with him, Calo, Juvi, Ciclope and some others I forget that was just tremendous-Calo wipes out two rows of fans with a full on plancha at high speed!

I could be wrong but i think Garza was being built up quite a bit. Is that the match where Garza does the spinning corkscrew of the top to the outside?
