  1. Along with alot of members' signatures having something smart and harsh like "Your a fucking cunt". Fuck and cunt appears lots in signatures along with most replies.Wasn't funny the first time, backbreaking unfunny the second time. Repetition of seeing the stupid quote makes lameness :)Still, it's not a bad forum. Some funny and interesting things do come out of this (along with some funny UKFF traits) You just have to dig deep past the crap, the trolling and flaming to do so.

  2. Some of the reports (on here and on 1PW - forgive me for not going back and finding quotes) have suggested that some families walked out. You've also essentially said 'nobody was offended, other than those who were uncomfortable'.

Some families DID walk out, yes. But it was because of the language and not because of the actions of SoCo which is what I believe the reports say. The language was mostly by Wallace who used 'cunt' twice casually which I believe was apologized for.

Instead, by not apologising, they're condoning it.

I don't know about that. It just looks like they don't want to drag an issue out and have to apologize for the reckless words of Hamrick and Smothers when they can simply ignore the minor backlash and just let time heal wounds. I like SoCo but they did say some outragous "what did he say?!" things at 2AS.
  3. Christ. How many times can this thread be ressurected by moral outrage? It happened. What can you do? There's not enough, ahem, 'backlash' for it to be a major issue anymore - it just seems to have been forgotten (like most controversial things are). I'm not saying that's right but your practically beating a dead horse. This thread has gone from the actual issue to putting two homophobes in their place.I'll put it right - I don't remember Stevie Aaron apologizing for the SoCo comments. He only really apologized for the language used by Wallace. But what difference does it make? 1PW aren't to blame in this case and it's down to the performers having a free say in their promo's (which happens alot because the performers are trusted to get their own angle/character over). I went to the show and generally nobody had a problem with the comments save a few people who felt uncomfortable. Nobody walked out over it or voiced their general anger (to my recollection) - the match went on and Simmonz/Tighe wore dresses. And the show went on with no more controversy. Only on the forums is the moral outrage and talk of boycott by... well, you.Why don't you ask Smothers/Hamrick for an apology as well as 1PW? You keep bitching about Dingbat painting you as a '1PW hater' but you don't ask the performers for an apology and you've spent this entire thread saying it's 1PW's fault. You've gone from being morally offended to downright begging for an apology.

  4. If it had happened at an IPW show, I'd have called it IPW homophobia. If it had happened at an XWA show, I'd call it XWA homophobia. And I'd also see it as THEIR responsibility, because if they don't know what's going to happen in their matches, then they're not responsible bookers.

You shouldn't do that. If a wrestler makes a comment at a show, it's not the promotion's racism/homophobia/sexism or whatever. That's the person's homophobia/racism/sexism etc. Don't label a company homophobic.

It wasn't one person. It was Smothers, Hamrick, Tighe and Simmons. Two of them making the comments repeatedly, the other two playing up to it repeatedly. In a match booked by 1PW. Really, you're saying 1PW didn't know what was going to happen in the match?

Tracy Smothers initiated the 'faggot' chant. That's what most people are offended about. And your trying to blame 1PW?There is absolutely no way 1PW would have allowed the 'anti-gay' stuff to happen if they had known about it. It's common sense. So I assume this was down to the performers, if anything. But it was a small segement which immediately led into a match. Then it went into the aftermath. It wasn't one entire segement; the match didn't consist of Tracy calling them faggots and whatnot. Simmonz and Tighe played up to it because they're heels. It's what they do; most of the time, heels act really offended and end up doing something which makes the face right (e.g. Rock with Coach, made comment about sheep and Coach said he liked sheep). Coach isn't a heel but it's along those lines. For all you know, it could have been something between the performers and not something 1PW booked. One small segement in a large two hour show with literally very little complaints. And it's the first time something like this has ever happened in 1PW. The reason people didn't 'bring this to your attention' was because it was generally something forgotten rather quickly because the show was pretty entertaining. It took a while before people read the results and complained. But very few are boycotting out of moral outrage.I'm not trying to tell you how to feel but I think it's OTT considering it's a one off incident and I think it's ridiculous your trying to try and pin this on the company and blame them instead of blame the performers for their ill-conceived idea of an angle.

Ouch. That's not going to come across as professional, is it?

1PW were professional enough to apologize. What, would you rather 1PW didn't and look like uncaring foulmouthed morons?
  5. The ultimate responsibility comes down to the company.

For what? When people script promo's, people bitch. When they're not, these abuses happen no matter how much you try for them not to. Every so often, these things happen. Very rarely. When Michael Richards ranted last year about black people, was it the comedy club' fault? No. He did that and those were his words and his actions. Same with 1PW. 1PW were probably wrong in that they didn't realize that wrestlers would take advantage of the 'talk freely' and abuse it. But that's it. They aren't mindreaders, y'know, and they don't know what people are going to say. This is the first time that it's been abused so badly in the time that 1PW's been around. Was it wrong? Yes. It was offensive and it was wrong to say. I felt totally uncomfortable with it but I am not going to boycott them over it and wouldn't point fingers and blame 1PW for that first time mishap in 'wrong things to say'.Is it really worth never going to another show of theirs despite the promotion putting on good shows and entertainment just because one of the wrestlers made a horrific error of judgement to say that stuff?Btw, I don't think it's '1PW homophobia'. The company isn't homophobic - Smothers is. To label it anything else is crap.
  6. For starters, 1PW can forget ever getting any money of mine again, and (if I have anything to do with it) that of any of my friends.

Why?I think your jumping to blaming the company a little quickly. I assume the performers get mostly say in their promo's and such. There were two instances at 2AS where this led to some crap; Wallace and Smothers. Wallace kept using the 'c' word in a casual manner and Smothers got people to chant 'faggot'. Why don't you blame the performer for HIS actions instead of the company? You weren't even at the show and if you checked our forums, you'll see that people did indeed complain about itMoral outrage indeed.

    most entertained by the comments.

Oh yes indeed, all the smarks love the 'faggot' chant indeed. Favourite part of the show.
  7. Some of you people make me sick. This whole "blahblah there is no proof" thing doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Okay, it's the day after and it's tibits of official information. Nothing is clear. So you can't condemn people for being unsure.
  8. I think his logic is far greater than the opposing argument, which really appears to be "... but he's Chris Benoit" and clinging on to some tiny hope that he didn't do it.

Nope, I don't think your listening to the opposing arguement which is "don't know much information yet" and "wait for full facts", not what YOU believe.
  9. So many morons here. The guy killed his family, deal with it.

Your the moron here, buddy. You're basing that viewpoint only after a day it's happened without the full facts while others are waiting for any more details before they make a judgement.
  10. Your not funny, Moj. Please stop.

WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday.

Uh huh... about a day after it happens. No autopsy, nothing. Just basing it off 'sources say'? Please wait for more information before labelling Benoit as a murderer.
  11. The police have said they're treating it as a murder suicide... that does NOT mean that Benoit did it. And while WWE has some information about suspicious text messages, they can't release any more information. So therefore you can't make any judgement until the full facts are known. And those will be released in time.

  12. WAY WAY too early to be cracking jokes although it seems to be happening with every murder, suicide or major incident.I think it's also too early to be labelling Benoit as anything before the full story is known.
