  1. In my experience it's best to sell second hand goods to CEX (best prices paid often) and buy from practically any other second hand retailer than CEX if you can. CEX buy high and sell higher - the other places tend to buy low and sell a little more reasonably.

  2. Mine are incredibly geeky:

Jaina's full name is: Lady Jaina Proudmoore (of Warcraft fame) and Rikku is off final fantasy 10.

some of my rats were named similarly too, With Cloud (ff7 ofc) Twitch (league of legends) and of course then there was tiny:

He never grew fur, stayed about half the size of other full grown rats i've had and had red eyes, this photo was actually taken on the day I had to have him put down (he had a cancerous lump on one side of his face, which we treated him for daily for months before it finally beat him, such a brave strong little thing i'll always have such a soft spot for him)

  3. I hate it when animals are in pain, they just don't seem to understand it at all. At least if it's a human you can say: 'yo, it's a slipped disc, lie down for a while and take these painkillers, it should get better!'

anyways saw this thread and any excuse to show off my beautiful girls:

Their names are Jaina (furthest away) and Rikku (closest), They're sisters but a litter apart, Rikku is ofc the youngest. In this picture they were both very young, they've grown a few months since ^^

Pretty sure i didn't post any of the cat pics before.

  4. I've gone on a bit of a gaming spree recently and have tried out a variety of games i hadn't previously.

    First up:

    Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning.

I've found recently that i'm not a big fan of these mostly single player RPG's, Fable 3 didn't hold my interest at all, Skyrim looked 'ok' but nothing to keep me sucked in (though i hadn't really tried it) but Kingdoms Of Amalur I played to completion (barring a lot of side quests still left over) in around a week or so. The game is cool, the graphics are pretty nice, the crafting system seems fairly well thought out and the storyline whilst not particularly unique is good enough. I mentioned that I left a lot of side quests undone and this is because there's A LOT of them, I had at first been trying to do them all on the way through the main storyline but in the end figured I'd do the story then go back to them. The combat is good, the variety of weapons and the mastery tree's diversity really make the game feel great to play. The destiny system as opposed to a rigid class system lends itself to a nice variety of paths you can go down and your character really becomes your own. At first I played as a Greatsword wielding Warrior but later transitioned into a finesse / might hybrid becoming a slayer this was mostly down to one of the 'rogue' weapons being so good (Faeblade).

The only criticism I have is perhaps the main story is a little short and bosses aren't so difficult for the most part since you have reckoning mode which means you can kill things real quick with no hassle. I'd actually suggest not using the Reckoning mode on all bosses, it's more fun without it and harder.

    Torchlight

Somehow i missed out on this game, but with the run up to Diablo 3's eventual release i heard of it, gave it a quick go today and it seems quite good - will be going back to it in anticipation of Torchlight 2.

    Darkness 2:

Looked alright, but not my kind of game - it should be played on a console not on the PC due to the buttons needed in active combat, being left handed and using the arrow keys as opposed to WASD and needing my left hand for the mouse makes combat a little tricky / clunky feeling.

I'm about to try Crusader Kings 2 which looks like a nice strategy game and i'm currently downloading Age of Empires Online for a bit of RTS fun.

    Question:

Which of the 'newish' Command and Conquers should I play? I've read bad reviews on tiberian twilight or w/e it was (although tiberian sun is undoubtedly my favourite C+C of the older generations).

  5. Anyone who mentioned Deathnote in this thread - wins.

When it comes to movie vs anime with deathnote both have their own pluses. The animes extra time to focus on the intricate details of the plot however is fantastic and it's deffinatly worth watching even if you've seen the live action movies.

Naruto, Bleach and Full Metal are also good watches.

  6. Pisses me right off this, you look at the Student protests, you look at that shit last night, then you look at the EDL protests & to think people are scared of us!! Lol!!

It's not as though your 'protests' have the reputation of being peaceful or friendly.

  7. Recently did the Co-op storyline in F.E.A.R 3, seemed pretty good albeit a wee bit short, didn't find it all that scary but generally i don't find things scary often, playing as the dude who can possess poeple was sweet though, although it could be annoying at times (when you'd find a good gun, and have no enemies for a while meaning you'd lose the body and gun :(). Battlefield 2 is on the go again since i haven't played it in aaages and the battlefield 3 trailers got me in the mood. That game is still ridiculously good and imo still one of the best multiplayer FPS experiences i've ever had.

Terraria > Minecraft - if you haven't checked it out, you should - it's a lot more action adventure based, less focused on the building and more on the combat, there're bosses to fight, events to make happen etc it's really quite fun for a while.

  8. "head-rag tax."

i find this so incredibly funny, the sheer ridiculousness of it really gets me... not only is the idea of a tax on a specific item of clothing laughable but even the term "head-rag tax" is equally as hilarious (for all the wrong reasons of course). Does anyone know what this was to actually be? I mean, the obvious answer seems so implausible i'm having trouble accepting it.

In some respects i can understand islamophobia, not that I accept it to be fair, reasonable or even something an intelligent person should give a seconds thought but i can see why it is becoming a bigger issue year on year. It's a shame that a few are really harming a mass of people with the way they act, it's a further shame that the media seems to enjoy stirring the issue with sensationalised stories. I believe not enough emphasis is put on the fact that it's a select few but i don't think even if it was too much would change.

When such horrible acts are commited in the name of Islam, is it a wonder that it scares some people? I'd say not even with how unrational that fear is. Politicians being able to capitalise on such events is not only oppertunistic but abhorent.

Islam is such an easy target, especially with the people who simply see the terrorist events and wars as an excuse to wear their Nazi ideology openly.

I'm not a massive advocate of freedom of speech without limitations it's a dumb freedom, often abused. That freedom is there to make sure that people are heard, underminding it by peddling hatred in my opinion should obviously not be allowed. Too much freedom hurts other freedoms and if we allow freedom of speech to be used in a way which impedes on religious freedom or any other freedom it's self defeating.

I guess it's like with any minority group who get discriminated against though, they all have the bad in there that live up to these horrible, often inaccurate (other than in a select few) stereotypes and breeds more discrimination and hate. Islamics get the worst of this, with the extremists doing things in their name, this is why whilst most other minority groups are becoming more accepted, Islam is becoming more feared, misunderstood and hated, simply because the bad are much worse than in other minorities.

People don't hate Christians because of the WBBC because they're small scale and our exposure to Christianity is large, I'm a pretty liberal person and even I would say i have a far better understanding and larger exposure to Christianity than to Islam through this i KNOW and can't deny for even a second that Christianity isn't inherently evil despite the people doing wrong in their name. Even with other forms of racism, such as with Africans for instance the 'bad' who live up to the stereotypes of being gangsters, drug dealers etc etc are doing no where near as much harm as terrorists and we see examples of these types of roles in White British / Americans too fairly regularly. Again with Gays who even with the annoying Queens, don't really do anything to harm us. I guess the exposure and the damage of the bad ones is the driving force.

  9. Well, I just played portal 2 though, both single and multiplayer and loved it. Have Crysis 2 on the go at the moment, although my partner decided he wanted to play it on easy... it set my game to easy too and i continued without noticing to begin with (i thought i'd got better) and now it's just too easy. The story seems fairly good, the graphics are of course top notch as you'd expect from crysis and the gameplay is pretty awesome, you've always got a choice on how you want to play it, i tend to pick enemies off using stealth and such, as opposed to running in with maximum armor.

Other than that, i'm currently playing wow, which has been my game of the past 5 - 6 years, cataclysm has improved a lot about the game and it's still amazing.

  10. 100. Quake

Classic, seminal, almost legendary, but not something I played much. Whinehouse played the Saturn version to death. I noted that it always had a great atmosphere about it. Never got to play it online (where it was huuuugely popular) and the main benefit of it in my own experience was that the Saturn version was instrumental in unlocking Death Tank.

Quake is fantastic and actually made my top 15. Just as a quick note which may interest some, they rereleased Quake 3 for free with some updates over at www.quakelive.com with an all new ranking and match making system.

I forgot to vote for so many fantastic games which i've seen on the lists here, toe jam and earl being one of, as well as forgetting about streets of rage, how could i possibly have done that? :o

Anyway, good list, would be nice to see the 45 games which got voted as number 1's on peoples list though, i'm guessing quite a few appeared in the top 50 already, but still :)

  11. Still hoping for another final fantasy title (X), Diablo 2 and wishfull thinking says settlers 2.

Who knows? I'm a little shocked by all of the football game entries, but w/e. The wrestling games i expected but don't really agree with.

Mostly, the list so far to me, has seemed good, even if not all to my taste.

  12. Currently playing through Final Fantasy XII on the PS2.Playing World Of Warcraft on a daily basis for 2 years now and thinking of installing Starcraft to touch up on the story with Starcraft 2 Being developed and announced. Occasional Warcraft 3 and Battlefield 2.
