The Kanyon/Boy George thing is absolutely something done to rib a gay bloke in a big absolutely not gay at all wrestling business. It just smacks of it and very something you'd get in early 2003. Look how a gay wedding and lesbians were portrayed a season prior in the autumn. It achieved nothing and was way too on the nose.

I think Kanyon was an unfortunate mix in a guy who absolutely loved, LOVED wrestling but would have been way happier and mentally balanced and maybe able to deal with what was really a big complex issue for his life has he not been in a locker room with some of the lot walking around backstage in 2003 WWE. Shame he was so talented to be honest. I don't think he'd have actually been happier out of wrestling though. He was too good to be told not and seemed so dedicated to it. He'd have probably been alive had he'd got into it a lot later maybe. I dunno I've just always felt terrible about how it ended up for Kanyon.

EDIT: Didn't see Pat who wrote it better and more clearly. Read that bit.

Was listening to the Jericho Podcast with Helms & DDP recently and apparently Kanyon was a very well paid physical therapist (earning six figures a year in the mid 90s for it) but loved wrestling that much that he gave it up to chase the dream which makes it even worse in some ways.

I watched Wrestlemania 26 today. I was absolutely gutted when the, "Running Up That Hill," music video before HBK vs. Undertaker was replaced with a generic promo instead. Considering it's probably the best video package the company ever put together, I was looking forward to watching that almost as much as the match itself.

I'm not going crazy am I? They originally showed the, "Running Up That Hill," video before that match, didn't they?

I'm now worried the Miz's "Hate Me Now," video package won't be on the Network version of Wrestlemania 27. You know, since that was the best thing on that show by miles and miles.

  3. Martin Stone v Flash Barker from Final Frontiers as its the first match where i've ever genuinly been gutted by a result!Dragon Phoenix, Max Voltage & Paul Robinson (IPW) vs. The Zebra Kid, Paul Travell & Ross Jordan w/ 'Solid Gold' Scott Parker - purely for Zebra brutalising everyone and for the Golden Arrow by ScottSimmons v JC due to the amazing crowdAisu v Jack Sabre Junior - as it was just fucking awesome!

That makes this whole thing all the more tragic. His brain mirroring an 85-year old Alzheimers sufferer's just shows the kind of damage pro wrestling can cause. Don't think its something I want to have any more interest in to be honest.
  5. ECW Press Announces CHRIS AND NANCY by Irvin Muchnick, Story of the Benoit Murder-Suicide, for 2008 PublicationJuly 16, 2007 - ECW Press announced today that it has signed author Irvin Muchnick to write a book about the sensational case of wrestler Chris Benoit. Christ to think people were up in arms about Vince exploiting Eddie's death ....
  6. And yes, it should read "In 1997, Nancy was charged with aggravated battery after Kevin Sullivan claimed she went after him with a knife. She claimed that she was holding it and nothing else, and the charges were later dropped."The story w/ Nancy and Heavy Metal as told by Jose Fernandez:

This happened around summer of 1996.There was this dude called John Arezzi who hosted a radio show and did some promoting. He promoted a AAA tour around the US and insisted on using Woman as a manager for Psicosis, because he used to be in love with her. Konnan was booking Baja California, and since he was friends with Woman (from ECW), he got her to do a small tour around Tijuana, Mexicali...After a Tijuana (I think) show everybody went back to their rooms. The TJ guys just stayed at home, Konnan shared a room with his buddies and Woman had her own room. Very late (in the midnight) somebody started screaming and pounding hard on Konnan's door. He opened the door and it was a half naked Nancy Sullivan whose face was a mess. They let her in and she told them that she got high with Metal and they were about to fuck, but he was so fucking wasted that he couldn't get it up from all the shit he'd been doing all day. So... he started biting her ass realllly hard. She hit him in the face with something to get him off, he then hit her back and she just escaped as soon as she could. At the time Konnan was scared because he didn't want to get on Pe

  7. - In 1997, Nancy was charged with aggravated battery after Kevin Sullivan claimed he went after her with a knife. She claimed that she was holding it and nothing else, and the charges were later dropped.

Blimey, I guess Sullivan wouldnt call the police if she was just holding it.

    - The Nancy/Heavy Metal incident (Meltzer doesn't name Metal) where he held her hostage in his hotel room and bit her led to major problems between AAA and WCW.

Whats the story behind this? When was it?
I read this in an autobiography once but cant for the life on me remember which one. Generally she turned up at someone else's hotel room door with her clothes ripped and pouring blood from been bitten by metal. The AAA WCW relationship was never the same again.
  8. How can anyone hate Nash? Sexual chemistry there - she wanted a piece of Big Sexy. :)

Agreed - he was brilliant in that interview. Definitely the most balanced argument from anyone so far!
  9. Well today was shit .... i lumped on Hardy Eustace and ignored the advice of my regular tipster for an e/w on sublimity. Still he's had some good words for horses tomorrow so ill put a few up here for you all!

  10. Does anyone know, why Brad Armstrong stopped doing commentary on ECW?I really liked him, he was miles better than Taz, imo. Thanks in advance.

    Courtesy of the Observer:

When Brad Armstrong was originally hired by WWE last September, the plan was for him to be an agent for ECW house shows. But the shows were canceled, so that was off the cards. They then tried him out as a color commentator, but that didn't work out either. They are now thinking about making him an agent again.

Guess they just didnt like him as a commentator. They are also planning on moving Tod Grisham (The Observer's worst commentator of 2006 'award' winner) to ECW to be the play by play guy. So obviously Joey Styles isnt too popular right now. Makes you see the future of ECW with Styles, Tazz and RVD all leaving in the near future!
  11. Bryan Alvarez was discussing on the Bryan & Vinny show that it's been said many times, partcually by Chris Nowinski, that multiple concussions can cause severe depression. An American Footballer comit suicide recently and it was linked to concussions.

I read about that recently. Its all to do the neurological consequences of mild head trauma. Also concussion can cause sleep problems and make people highly irritable in the following days leading to depression. God knows how many mild concussions pro wrestlers (especially those on the indy scene looking to make a name for themselves) are suffering in the average month but a compound of it is simply terrifying.
