  1. Just typing this makes me feel old but around 20 years ago while at school, me and mates stumbled upon a place and got fish and chips. They added the salt and vinegar to perfection and from that day forth I have been chasing the dragon (including returning to said place) and its not even got close. Vinegar that dries into chips immediately, fish that doesnt flake right. One day.... One day.

  2. It just all seems a waste of time. They might get popular but their revenue comes from TV deals, PPVs and merchandising for the most part.

Nobody in China pays for anything official. CCTV (state run channels) wouldn't have it on their channels.

PPVs and USTV are streamed with no consequence from the ISP or government and they churn out fake merchandise at a fraction of the price. There is no way to make money. The odd paid gate isn't going to make much a difference to them.

The Premier League found it out to their cost. They now have scores of millions of people here watching games religiously every week thanks to their huge marketing push in the last decade but they aren't seeing a penny from it.

  3. Nah, you've got to love a French driver. They drive like they do on the roads. They don't give a fuck. Generally about 30 seconds from walloping someone, in or out of the car.

Good call though, Loki. Japanese drivers are also mental and therefore entertaining.

Favourite French driver of mine was Jean Alesi by a billion miles, he was absolutely mental and bloody quick when he was in the right mood. Plus Alesi and Gerhard Berger was a great duo as team mates, none of these girly Lewis handbag moments, proper men!

Alesi had the benefit of being half Sicilian. That meant he could engage mental mode at the flick of a switch.

  4. Nobody pays for anything in China. It is all illegally streamed. Just about every major sport in the world has tried to tap into the market and it just doesn't work. The Premiership is absolutely colossal in China but they all watch it over a streaming service and buy fake kits. If WWE are pinning their hopes on China they have even bigger problems ahead.

  5. Loeb just signed on for Citroen in the WTCC next season so that rules him out. He is at the age now anyway where it would have to have happened by now. As fit as he is, 40 (by the time next season comes round) is definitely the twilight years of any F1 career.

On the subject of the DeltaWing I like that Nissan pulled out of the project and then came up with this as their electric entry for next years Le Mans.

  6. One of my favourite things Zanardi did was that two years after his crash he went back to Lausitz for the 2003 race and completed the final 13 laps he missed out on. A CART car was adapted with hand controls and the fastest time he set during those laps would have put him on 5th place on the grid for the race.

  7. I was split between putting this in the Motorsport thread or the Games thread. This looks like it has the potential to be amazing and I can only hope it is half decent. I've always thought this was a great idea for a game. Let's hope for a Mario Kart equaler.

Codemasters has announced their Formula One gaming portfolio is adding F1 Race Stars, a fast-to-the-fun arcade racing game for all ages featuring official Formula One cars, teams and circuits as they
  8. I have a question.Presuming these co-workers from the text messages to be close friends of Chris, Chavo being one of them (?), why was nothing done sooner? If I got just one of those messages, I'd be majorly concerned if it was my friend, particularly after having lost another in Eddie a year ago. At that point, I'd be dropping everything and flying to GA to find out what the hell was going on.

Maybe, just maybe, they were fast asleep at 4am in the morning. They probably acted as soon as they got up.
  9. A year or so ago I found a fun thing to do betting wise on the Betfair forums. Someone had worked out that 1 in 16 games (or soething like that) in the Premiership ends in a 0-0 draw. The rate across all other big leagues/Europe etc is similar. The odds on 1 goal or more in a game in Betfair bounces about anywhere between roughly 1.05 and 1.12.So the idea is that you start with

  10. I fhis claims in this thread are true he won just under a grand on Celtic a few weeks back so perhaps he can afford to lose out. Always suspicious when someone quotes a large amount of money in this thread.

  11. Does nobody here match bet? It is 100% risk free and even if you just put aside a couple of hours a week you can guarantee a decent profit every week. Seems better to me than fritering away your money on
