  1. I watched Danielson vs Aries 75 minute match for the first time last week and was pleasently surprised by it. The 75 minutes seemed to go by quite quickly and it was a really good technical match. Enjoyed it more than Danielson's 60 minute matches with McGuinness and Cabana last year.

  2. The two UK shows do look really good on paper, lets hope they deliver.Watched Dethroned the other night and it was a good show. Tag title match was excellent with a nice finish, and the main event was a great brawl with Briscoes vs Joe/Homicide. This is the type of match I like Homicide in, I dont really enjoy his singles matches too much, I find him to be a bit overrated. Got the Chicago Spectacular Night 2 to watch next.

  3. Watched Survival of the Fittest 2006 last night. Not a great show although there were a few good matches like Danielson vs Samoa Joe, Aries vs Daniels, and the SOTF main event. Crowd was really quiet for alot of the event though. Will be watching Dethroned and Chicago Spectacular Night 2 next.

  4. I think Delirious is a good worker who has fun matches, but I dont want to see him get a main event push, I could never take the guy seriously as a main eventer.I've watched a fair bit of RoH over the past few weeks, more specifically the 'Fight of the Century', 'Unified' and 'Anarchy in the UK' events. Really enjoyable shows with some great matches.Danielson vs Nigel at Unified is my favourite RoH title match this year simply for the emotion of the crowd and Nigel 'Hulking up' after having his head repeatedly hit into the steel ring post on the outside. The elbows from Dragon to finish the match look sick.Danielson vs Joe was another superb match. Joe bringing the physical style which frustrates Danielson in the early going as he cant gain an advantage in the match. Match picks up and there are some close near falls near the end of the match. The time limit finish is well done with Danielson locked in the choke and the time expiring, but I feel the impact of this match has been diluted somewhat with Danielson's time limit draws on future shows. Aries and Strong vs Briscoes from Unified is definitely their best match together, nice pace in this one and fancy double team moves. The tag match between the Briscoe's vs Davey Richards & Matt Sydal the next night at Anarchy has had alot of praise, but I didnt really think it was that great, they just seemed to go out there and wrestle a standard tag match until each man just decided to hit al their fancy moves (I suppose the same could be said for most RoH tag matches, but I felt it was more noticeable in this match)Other good matches on the shows are Kenta vs Davey Richards at FOTC, Danielson vs SUWA at Anarchy, and Danielson vs Strong also from Anarcy.

  5. I saw the Goldust vs Undertaker casket match on the '1996 year in review' tape. Goldust won after Mankind appeared in the casket as Taker was about to roll Goldust into it, and applied the mandible claw to Undertaker forcing him into the casket and giving Goldy the win. I think it was for the intercontinental title. I'm not sure how the feud came about though.

  6. I've just finished watching 'Ring of Homicide' and thought it was a good, but not great show. Dragon vs Delirious was a nice little match, Delirious is a great underdog face. Gen Next vs Briscoes was a really good tag title match I thought, the finish iwas great because it opened the door for a rematch. Main event is one of my favourite RoH match of the year in Homicide vs Necro. Much better than Homicide vs Cabana. Homicide was insanely over with the crowd and he and Necro had a fantastic fight.Going to watch Destiny in a bit.

  7. I could see Danielson dropping A title in the near future, probably back to Nigel McGuinness, but the problem is there aren't that many legit title contenders in ROH, as in people who can carry the company. Danielson, regardless of estimations of his overall talent, does at least have a complete package. Barring Austin Aries, who is likely to be holding the tag titles well into the next century at this rate (I can't think of ANY team barring the Briscoes who could take the belts of them, and they've beaten the Briscoes three times already. Or is it four?), and Nigel McGuinness, I can't think of anyone who would work.If they have KENTA for a decent length of time, a short KENTA title reign would probably go over well. Although, if you ask me, they're grooming Davey Richards to be the next true contender. I've already commented that ROH's title situation is beginning to stagnate, in that HHH title-damaging manner rather than building. However, there's been one title change this year. There could be another before the end. I reckon Gabe's going to have either GenNEXT or Bryan Danielson hold their titles all year long, but not both. Time will tell. The Briscoes either need to win the titles soon or lose their heat. You can only lose so many times, competitively or otherwise, before the fans see you as a loser.

I agree with all of this. It seems like they are padding out the title defences by giving them a load of challengers who you no will not win the title. It seems like RoH are determined to book long term champs just for the sake of it. And The Briscoes are starting to look a joke, they also lost three times in their feud with AJ Styles & Amazing Red, and three times against the Second City Saints. They also lost numerous times to Samoa Joe in their feud with him (Although to be fair they did defeat him in a couple of tag title defences)I thinka Kenta reign would work, would bring something different into the main event mix and an air of unpredictability.
  8. I agree with the Blood Generation vs Do Fixer match not being a match of the year contender. Fun is the best way to describe it, alot of nice moves, but I didnt really care who won and I dont feel compelled to check out more Dragon Gate because of it. I quite liked Danielson vs Strong III, but feel their match at 'This Means War' is their best match. I thought Danielson's match with Lance Storm was incredibly boring for some reason though, and I thought I would enjoy that much more than his match with Strong on the show before. I think that Danielson should drop the title soon because I think he has defended it too many times and is running through the same challengers. I ordered 'Ring of Homicide', 'Destiny', 'Chi-Town Struggle' and 'In Your Face' earlier today. Also definitely going to order Death Before Dishonor IV as soon as its available. I will post my thoughts on the shows once I have watched them.

  9. Danielson vs Joe looks like it was a fantastic match, rest of the car ddoesnt look to bad either. I am going to order 'Destiny', 'Chi-Town Struggle', and 'Ring Of Homicide' soon. I did try and buy all of 2006 in order, but since the number of shows is increasing rapidly, I'm just going to get the events which look good to me and get the rest when I can afford them.Kenta vs Aries looks a good match on CTS, Aries has impressed me in his tag team with Roderick Strong, I think he displays WAY more charisma than Strong (but then again who doesnt) and Danielson vs Cabana looks appealing as well.

  10. Really enjoyed reading the reviews in this thread. Always a good read. I might have a look in my RoH DVD collection in a bit and write a few reviews.I think Danielson is keeping the title tonight. I think this is the right way to go, but I do think that Danielson defends the title too often, and even though the matches are always very entertaining, nine times out of ten it is extremely obvious his opponent is not going to win. Nice review of 'Ring of Homicide' edgecrusher, I am tempted to get this on DVD, but with the number of shows increasing I dont have the funds to buy regularly, so I might wait until a must see event comes along, possibly Death Before Dishonor IV with it sounding a great event from live reports.I have all the 2006 DVD's up to the 100th show and it has been another really good year so far for RoH.

  11. Nice review of the 100th show. I have that show, as well as the other shows post Arena Warfare still to watch from the Milestone Series.I watched Survival of the Fittest 2005 over the weekend, it has enjoyable qualifiers, with Milano Collection AT making his RoH debut against Samoa Joe, and a fun pure title match between Nigel McGuinness and BJ Whitmer with Nigel using the rules to his advantage as always. The Survival of the fittest match was also enjoyable, not as good as 2004's, the majority of the match is Aries and Strong working together to eliminate all the other opponents, which is a preview to future shows as they team up together on a regular basis.I have quite a few RoH shows I have which I havent got round to watching yet like Showdown in MoTown, Round Robin Challenge III, and the last five shows of the Milestone Series. I will post thoughts on them once I've watched them.

  12. Rave is probably my favourite wrestler to watch in RoH at the moment, weather it be in singles or tag matches. I watched his cage match with Punk from Nowhere to Run and it is a great feud ending match, and a match which seemed to have genuine emotion in it in regards to wanting to see the babyface overcome the odds and beat up Rave. Very rare for the indies.

  13. Just placed an order for the last five shows in the Milestone series, which are Best in the World, Dragon Gate Challenge, Better Than Our Best, Supercard of Honor, and The 100th Show.Best match I have seen from RoH this year of the show's I have seen would be Bryan Danielson vs Jimmy Rave from the fourth anniversary show.

  14. The build to Danielson/Joe continues. The only other singles match they had in ROH was at Midnight Express Reunion, and it ruled all. Both are guys are far better wrestlers now...

They have actually had three singles match in RoH, at 'Revenge on the Prophecy', 'One Year Anniversary Show', 'Midnight Express Reunion'
