When did WWF first tour the UK?
-
He won by default as he was physically incapable of taking the bump over the top rope.Oh yes, I remember the gimmick battle royal now. I wonder why Iron Sheik was booked to win it? Maybe they felt he deserved it for helping put Hulkamania on the map.

Cheers guys, that's the one.

Big masked guy. Should have mentioned that. Looked pretty generic as I recall just tights and plain black mask.
A pinfall attempt should involve a wrestler attempting to hold his opponent's shoulders to the mat.The recipient of a Rita Romero Special is not making an attempt at pinning his opponent in any way, therefore I do not believe the referee should be counting a pinfall.
Well, their shoulders are down, and their opponent's on top of them.
Do you know, I thought I was the only one that got pissed off by that. In what sense is that a cover?Upside down surfboard - you know, when the person doing the move is on ther back and is holding their opponent in the air by all four extremities.Words fail on how much it irritates me when a referee starts counting down the shoulders of the man doing the move.
Yeah, the person doing the hold has to roll backwards a bit so that the recipient's head and shoulders are touching the mat. It requires some dexterity. Is it possible to bridge someone down into a pin from a Mex Surfboard without the hold falling apart?
If you're right, it must have been a Kevin Sullivan idea that they nixed when Russo came back to power. I have no idea, but can you describe the wrestler physically?Sorry if i'm a little vague. I'm pretty sure this was in the period of time between Russo getting his matching orders in the January and coming back in April.

Question time.I seem to recall in WCW in probably early 2000 the debut of this mysterious guy who had been getting vignettes aired for a few weeks. I seem to recall him beating DDP in his debut match on Thunder and then disappearing of the face of the earth.Any clues as to who this was?Sorry if i'm a little vague. I'm pretty sure this was in the period of time between Russo getting his matching orders in the January and coming back in April.

It was actually ROH referee Gary Moorer. Not sure if he's still with ROH, but he definitely used to be.Can anybody inform me on who was the small fellow called gary on heat this past week. He took part in the masterlock challenge.

I think it was Johnny V, because I remember seeing on WWE Classics a couple of years ago, Demolition's debut and the original team was different (no Ax?) than the one we would grow to know and love and i'm sure Johnny V was a part of it.
I always assumed it was Mr Fuji but you could be right. It was definitely Fuji by the time Wrestlemania IV rolled around (their first WM) but wouldn't know if they initially had Luscious Johnny for house shows and TV prior to that.Am I mad in thinking that the first manager Demolition~ ever had in the WWF was Luscious Johnny V?

I think it originally came on Bravo in October 1998 (It may be a month or two off) and it showed the run of Hardcore TV from October 1996 until just before Barely Legal. It turned up again on Bravo in Feb 2000 on a one-month delay and remained for the rest of the year.

I had forgotten about that.No idea what explanation they gave but I would imagine it was just the Prophecy's way to try to make Punk think it was Raven.
Then what was the "Rust Never Sleeps" note all about? Is BJ a Niel Young fan too?
The Prophecy (Daniels group) hired BJ Whitmer to do the dirty deed. The angle always seems to be mentioned in every Ring of Honor show I watch on TWC so here goes...Who eventually was found to have jumped Lucy? (CM Punk's valet)
-
Yeah, I think he was still under contract to WCW at the time as well, and they sent him to ECW as a way to really put the "Loose Cannon" gimmick over.
All of it, I reckon. At ECW Cyberslam '96 when Brian Pillman first appeared for the company, exactly how much if his angle at the show was planned prior/worked?

There is a link in page 6 of this thread that features that footage as well as some other pretty funny stuff.I'm in the mood for a laugh - and I wonder if anyone has a link to the infamous WCW "Shockmaster" debut (Where he trips and the hat comes off)...Anyone?Cheers in advance. Haven't seen that in years.

How long was Barry Windham involved with the WWF for in 1989? I know he is on the back of the Survivor Series 1989 video as he was meant to be a member of Randy Savage's team that night. What happened?
-
Yep.Mania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series & a couple of others are all on Box Office. The rest are on Sky Sports. Will Wrestlemania this year be shown on Box Office?

Right here's one:I am aware of the term 'kayfabe' and what it means, but where did it originate from?
The Song Of The Day Thread

My song of the day is WigWam by WigWam. For those not in the know, WigWam were a band formed last year consisting of Alex James (of Blur fame) and 90s pop icon Betty Boo. It's catchy as fuck and one of my favourite singles of last year. Unfortunately the single tanked and i'm pretty sure WigWam are now no more. Enjoy.
