  1. McCoy's ride on Wichita Lineman yesterday was just awesome.

Master Minded really should win today but I can't back it at that price.

Niche Market E/W in the opener today I like the look of. Also Ronaldo Des Mottes in the 4.40.

  2. Supremo. Isn't a prolific poster, but his posts are invariably great. Makes great points whilst being both informative and entertaining. I wish the board had more like him.

Agree with that. I don't post much on here but there are a few posters who I make sure I try and read their contributions regularly and he's been the best of a good few.

  3. No, Lucas is our first. Just had a week off and it was the most time I have spent with him aside from the two weeks off I had when he was born. I usually see him for 10 mins before I go to work and by the time I get back he's usually asleep so it was nice to seem him properly for 9 straight days.

They're an absolute delight at that age. So cute, gentle and adorable. You get all warm inside after a long day at work knowing you'll be going home to that small bundle of joy. It's a good time, man. :)
Couldn't agree more. My little girl is coming up three in a couple of months. Can't believe how quickly the time has passed.

I'm under the impression that alot of parents think that as theyre on holiday they can get away with god awful parenting and see it allmost as the holiday destinations problem. Also, some of them look like their hoidays are being ruined by their own kids. If having a holiday with your partner and resting etc is that important to them, why bring them in the first place? if they were that desperate to get away from them surley they could have found someone to look after them for a few days. If not, you should just suck it up and make the best of it right?

Agree with that. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to bring kids into the world.
  4. Massive weekend with an absolute ton of promotions and free bets on offer from all the bookies, mainly because of the boxing. Paddy Power have a money-back special on ALL top flight La Liga games this weekend as well.

I've not posted much on UKFF recently as I've been busy with other stuff, including this, which I opened a few days ago. If anybody is interested, there's a guide to who is offering what in terms of incentives to open new accounts etc, and if you're interested in joining the mailing list we have (which basically gives you a "heads up" of deals etc.), drop me a line via the contact page.

I'm on Hatton to win tomorrow, and I may go with a Hatton/Man City double which BetFred is doing at 8/1.

Enjoy the fight and footy this weekend.

  5. Keep an eye on this market - I reckon with Hamilton leaving the UK for Switzerland there's some good value there.

On a similar note, I reckon that if Ricky Hatton beats Mayweather, he might have a fair shout as well.
You may well be right.Money-back special bet on the Liverpool-Fulham game today here. Not much in the way of Premier League football to bet on today. I think betting on Over 2.5 goals in the Derby and Sunderland games is where I'll be heading today.
  6. Westmead Aoifa in the William Hills St Leger. Currently 6/1 and I doubt you'll find anywhere near that price by the time the hare is running.

Now 11/4 fav with Betfair. I've already traded out of that one just to be safe.A few for today:Rimsky, 2.25 ChepstowHonor And Glory (E/W), 4.35 ChepstowBremen, 4.20 StratfordSunderland seem good value for a home win today, as does "Overs" in the Chelsea-Man City game for those that bet on that market.
  7. Remember this is a business where controversey creates cash

So if Dixon was to book Smothers and Hamrick for a tour, and gave them the briefing to make comments similar to those made at 1PW every night, would that be good for business? We're talking about a relatively small promotion in the North of England (although I still maintain beyond York is The South) who draw a reasonable percentage of children and families to their shows. That kind of controversy will not draw cash.
  8. But Hamrick was joining in the 'faggot' jokes? And Tighe and Simmons were playing up to them?

Tighe and Simmonz prompted the 'faggot' jokes with their dancing in the 'dance-off', apparently inspiring Tracey to make a comment. The dresswearing was what caused the 'faggots' chant afterwards.

Whereas I think it couldn't be more obvious that this incident paints 1PW in a bad light all by itself.

Not really. I'd say it reflects badly on Tracey Smothers and Chris Hamrick more than anything; that is, for anyone who isn't continuously trying to trace it back to the promotion.
I'd say it reflects on both the wrestlers and the company. It obviously reflects on Smothers and Hamrick, as the comments came from them. I know they have a lot of fans at 1PW events, but I bet they've lost a few after their comments. It also has to reflect on 1PW to a degree, although if those in charge didn't know the comments were going to be made, there's not a huge amount they could have done bar kill the live mic. That said, if a family has been put off attending future shows, that's because they'll associate those comments with the promotion itself.
  9. And if families and casual fans went along then they should know what sort of a crass product wrestling has become these days and expect it.

Perhaps families aren't fully aware though. The kids might watch wrestling, but some parents more than likely take no notice, and take them to see 1PW (or any promotion) to shut them up for the evening. For all their bad points, if you went to a WWE house show, you wouldn't expect to be offended, despite some of the more questionable angles on television. That's the way it should be for any wrestling promotion. Kids are a big part of the fanbase, and also the most impressionable.
  10. I may be wrong here, but wasn't the official line from 1PW regarding not having women wrestle on their shows along the lines of "we wouldn't want to risk the crowd chanting 'get your tits out'"?

  11. In fairness, a ton of recent research (lots of it by Chris Nowinski) has suggested that multiple concussions can cause catastrophic depression and other mental problems. There were a couple of NFL players who killed themselves who were reportedly victims of that exact problem. Given the kind of abuse Benoit's brain must have taken over the years between the headbutts (flying and normal) and the unprotected chairshots, I wouldn't be at all surprised if this investigation finds exactly that type or problem.

The sooner more people in a position of power and authority pay attention to Nowinski's book, the better. I know he was knocked back by authorities a few times shortly after Benoit's death, which was a shame as there's a lot in there that they would have learnt from.
  12. According to Wikipedia, on the Wrestlemania Anthology match listing for Wrestlemania XX, the main event is listed as Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels. Am I the only one that finds it ridiculous that WWE are removing such important aspects from its history?

What are you suggesting they do instead? Continue to advertise Benoit in match listings and in photos on both WWE.com and DVD covers, potentially opening themselves up to the criticism that they're using the likeness and/or name of a CHILD MURDERER to make money? I'm fucking blown away by the amount people calling it, "stupid," "crazy," or, "ridiculous," of the WWE to do this, because it's actually the most logical and sensible thing they could do considering the circumstances. By a mile.
Exactly. Don't forget that WWE have shareholders to answer to as well. Would somebody who has bought a stack of shares in WWE want to do so when they're advertising a murderer? I doubt it.
  13. Anyone see this interview with Benoit after WM XX?

Seconding this, I am highly curious to know its content.
They just aired a couple of comments before bringing Bill DeMott and Debra on the show. Along the lines of "the amount of athleticism involved has gone up so high. We've got Kurt Angle....the people who are coming into wrestling right now are more athletic than they've ever been."
  14. Perhaps it's because I've got kids, or perhaps it's just because I don't have the same sense of humour as some people, but I think it's pretty sick reading some of the comments made on here making light of the situation. Posting "funny" pictures such as the above is just pathetic too.
