I seen that, Big Daddy was in there as a red herring; he belonged to another chain, characters from a book or something?Long time reader, first time poster (bit creepy I know)Anyway not last weeks but week before (so 1st Septembers episode) of Only Connect on BBC2 had a wrestling connection on the connecting wall. And the contestants knew them and got it after a while (CM Punk, Christian, Undertaker and Triple H)This compelled me to create an account as I had nowhere else to put this info!!!
Cat on a hot tin roof I'm sure it was the big daddy one belonged to.

Do they not get relatively decent TV ratings in the states. They must have cut costs as well getting rid of Hogan and Sting and taping in blocks. Surely someone will pick them up as all the international deals must make them something to add on to their main US deal.
-
That was my thought Vamp. Did he really email the wrong Mike or was he worried people weren't giving a shit about him. Does it really make a difference wether he is there or not. I do think the last couple of weeks of TNA tv have been alright. Still shite in there I fast forward but to to be fair I do that with Raw and Smackdown as well.
-
It doesn't really seem to make a big difference to their ratings though. Some of the pretaped shows with decent matches are getting healthy ratings so why not go for what must be the more cost effective option.

I'm enjoying TNA just now. Trying out some new and different guys. I think Magnus makes a good champion good look, seems to get plenty of newspaper and magazine coverage and says the right things. Good use of Abyss as muscle. Storm/Gunner feud had built up well and will hopefully help make Gunner who seems to have something.
-
MVP is a terrific talker. Did they give him the mic in WWE much? I can't recall a lot, but then wasn't watching a massive amount of TV when he was there.
Â
He really comes across naturally when hes talking. His promo about becoming investor made sense and came across well.

Surely the point is to make Gunner a big face as he holds the title match briefcase. It was also hinted at on the show Beer Money would be reuniting.

Surely they should be booking smaller halls. They are advertising the house shows on TV so they can't get better promotion than that. Just seems crazy that they are getting smaller crowds than crappy indy shows. I know before it was mentioned they where doing venues in crap area's outside of town and cities rather than inner city venues don't know if this is still the case.
-
Think it was a case of them playing up to his strengths in Japan however limited they may be. Tell everyone long enough that someone is great and people believe it. WWE only seems to like their own creations and for people to react in the way they tell them. Wish they would allow wrestlers/superstars to progress more organically.
-
I'm sure their filming 6 weeks of TV over here so that takes them in to the middle of March. I'm sure they will find somewhere to do a couple of months worth of tapings. Dressing a place up right won't look any worse than the current soundstage with about 50 people in it.
-
Wonder if BT/Sky sports would look at TNA TV rights in the UK. Still getting good ratings over here and the WWE network looks it will soon be up and running with their SKY contract expiring this year. Although they aren't growing their TV ratings they are maintaining similar levels in the US and pretty good ratings over here.
-
Do they not film these things to satisfy international contracts or some shite like that. Would be better doing clip shows best of Tag teams/x division or something similar.
-
I would like to see Challenge show all the weekly ppv's. Would sky plus them all to watch at some point. Some crap but some great x-division stuff on there and the random people turning up was always good.
-
Why would wrestlers do loser leaves town matches then 50/50 chance of getting the bullet. Point of the match is surely that the reward of a title shot is so great they are willing to get the bullet.

Matthew Macklin won a 10 round decision on the Rigondeaux undercard last night. Shawn Porter took the IBF title from Devon Alexander, winnable world title fight for Amir Khan? Martin Murray will probably be shouting for another shot at Sturm probably the easiest chance of a title at middleweight and he was in with a good shout of taking the decision last time they faced. Don't see Macklin or Barker being world champions now. BJS is probably the best chance of a British Middleweight world champ after Murray

Anyone know what happened to Roderick Strong's 'brother' in Florida sure it was Sederick Strong. Remember them when I used to get tapes think it was IPW florida

I would think TNA would want to keep AJ hes been there since the start been champion don't know how many times. Surely TNA could offer more than WWE as he wouldn't really mean anything to WWE. Maybe he wanted to take time off or to do some other things. The roster is getting really thin. Could do with a few new faces. I like EC3 though think he could work hopefully don't push him towards a title match too quickly though.
-
At least they doing house shows in better sized venues. They might actually make off doing shows in high school gyms. I would think the venue hire would be relatively cheap and they can stick on a pretty average card. Make a few quid and if they pack the place out use a bigger venue next time rather than booking 3000 seat venues and bringing in 300/400 people.

I think they are taking positive steps. Getting rid of Hogan and some hangers on and bringing in young much cheaper guys
Like Pacman Jones.
Â
Did they pay Pacman Jones for that though or was it case of a bit of local exposure for letting him and his mate get in the ring. He did more last week than he did in his run as tag team champion though.
Â
Need to add I did enjoy the XWF though. I will generally watch any wrestling on my telly.

I think they are taking positive steps. Getting rid of Hogan and some hangers on and bringing in young much cheaper guys and giving them a go. hogan never really pushed TNA as much as he could. He could go through radio/TV interviews without mentioning TNA which is piss poor when they where paying him good money. Their ratings seem pretty steady and even with et al they where still drawing crap crowds. Giving the likes of EC3 a go to see how they work and hope someone catches on is much more cost effective and might eventually catch on.
-
Should help the crowd numbers. They crowds over here will provide a good atmosphere for tv/ppv. Glasgow is two shows one live and one taped and two taped from London. A months worth of TV and two PPV's not bad from a weeks work.
-
TNA are pretty much going through a reboot. Got rid of most of the roster and cutting the costs right back. They are bringing in new talent with build up videos. Going to be tough going with a thin roster until the new guys can get established and most of the big names gone. People complain about TNA paying crap wages but their losing money and have crap crowds so can only piss with the cock they've got. If wrestlers want to work for what they are paying and the benefits they get thats their choice.
-
Surely TNA have room for a few new guys. They have feck all roster left. Could do with ending aces and eights though not much left. Eithet punt Knux or keep him as Bully's body guard and use Briscoe/Garret as a heel tagteam rather than the nothing their doing just now. Some kind of international invitational could work and get over a new star.
-
Hogans contract is apparently up soon so Dixie should give him the boot live. Should get a good reaction for that

I get the Dean Ambrose thing. He the anti-wrestler. I hated Rollins get up but the tights he wears suit him just not the gimp vest. Put Reigns in what ever you want as he just comes across as bland to me.
