  1. Good stuff! Always nice when you cane it and don't have a hangover. I'm 8 beers in today and.. I just can't New year's resolutions have gone to shit. Birthdays can fuck off, though. Celebrating them as an adult is so weird. What do you want, attention or something?

  2. I watched wrestling for the first time in ages recently. It was the best of TNA on some channel or other. One of the matches was Samoa Joe Vs Magnus in a cage and Abyss came through the ring. A couple of things struck me: TNA's production is very poor - they kept using camera angles that revealed gaping holes in the bottom of the cage so they could have easily escaped if they wanted to. Also, the completely dead crowd when the big reveal happened. Nobody gave a shit about the unmasked Abyss. My wife, who is a casual fan at best, was saying things like, "this so stupid." and laughing at Tazz's attempts to sell it. TNA in a nutshell, there.

  3. I will concede that it's a bit rubbish in Scotland, though. Too many silly billies who feel the need to be outrageous. It's better in Indonesia. You don't see people pissing in public here. Well, you do, but not because they're drunken.

  4. Bit like "hating" Christmas, though, isn't it? It's only one night and it strikes me as something actually worth celebrating, rather than something based on religion. I reckon you might as well go to the pub and shake a few hands, give some well wishes. You can stay in and watch TV any day. Kiss the wife and marvel at the fireworks, you grouchy so and so!

I'm not sure the Zodiac Killer fits into Fortean or Paranormal or Conspiracy but it's probably the most intriguing mystery I've ever read about.

The movie by David Fincher was very good.

Some good documentaries and theories about who it is/was online.

It's been a while since I read the book, written by the guy Jake Gyllenhaal played in the movie; I remember enjoying it but then reading that a lot of the stuff in the book was discredited.

    Graysmith is his name.

There's quite an interesting theory that the Zodiac killer didn't exist at all, and the crimes were all related to local drug disputes. I don't know if I can buy that - who was the fellow in the costume after all? - but the whole thing is really interesting to a true crime fan like myself. I got a bit obsessed with it last year and went down a wormhole. Silly really, as it will never be solved. Much like Jack the Ripper!

The film is great, but it treats Graysmith's carny bullshit as gospel. Still, that Hurdy Gurdy man scene at the start - magic.

I liked Drive but Refn has basically taken all the worst elements from it and made it into two terrible films since. It's a shame, really, his Danish films are excellent - all three of the Pusher films are superb especially. Don't know what happened to that guy.

Yeah. I've not seen his Danish films yet. I watched the Neon Demon and I liked it as a piece of "art" but the story was a bit poo. He's a talented guy, though. I mean, he's a director I'll keep my eye on, simply because he's making films that other people don't. David Lynch is the only other person I'd say that about.

  7. The only thing that annoys me about "Something to Wrestle with..." is Conrad asking about money. Who gives a shit how much they get paid, really? Other than that, Priichard can be a dick when he slags off Melzer. It's a very 80s mindset: "He wasn't there! He doesn't have a clue!" Well, actually, Meltzer has devoted his whole life to wrestling journalism and it's not like he's talking out of his bumhole It's the only thing that annoys me about Bruce, who is otherwise a great story teller.

  8. I think you answered your own question. In the era of smart phones people like to message each other about stupid shite. It all goes back to the JFK. Yes, the government is an all powerful body that can do whatever they like to manipulate their citizens without scrutiny. Of course.

I've always wanted to listen to more Pritchard podcasts but the length of them puts me off, a 5 hour hour podcast who the fuck has got time for that. Just listened to the SCG Pillman podcast on Liams new book, sounds like this is a must buy I wasnt sold on it originally as Pillman was never one of my faves although I was intrigued by the loose cannon stuff back then but it sounds fantastic.

Presumably the same people who somehow manage to read books, go to the cinema etc. I don't understand why people complain about podcasts being too long. You don't have to listen to them in one chunk. Why complain about too much content? It's an odd thing to bitch about. Case in point is the Lapsed Fan podcast - now, they really do talk a lot, but I loved their take on the Montreal thing. I thought I'd heard everything there was to know about it, but by talking about it for so long they hit upon how the fallout of it all affected the Hart family. I'd never really considered that before. What Vince did, rightly or wrongly, really fucked that family up. Like I say, interesting stuff.
