  1. I've been enjoying a lot of the old World Class shows from '84/'85.  Most of the audience are female with a fierce love for the Von Erich boys.  Watched a match this morning where Chris Adams (w/Gary Hart) screwed Kerry out of his American title and the fans were absolutely furious.

Jake Roberts; the Midnight Express (Cornette looks about 12) and Ric Flair dropping in from time to time as NWA champ.  I've fallen in love with it.

Got to agree with the Hydro comment. I don't like it as a venue at all. Its just a soulless bowl with some really piss poor viewing areas (the glass obstructing certain seating sections for a start). Don't think its a wrestling venue at all

I'm not overly fond of it for music either.  You cant even get a decent pint and I refuse to drink that Fosters muck.  End up drinking spirits all night and I'm pissed by the end of the show.

Apart from the SECC show I enjoyed attending Barramania and guessing the O2 in Sauchiehall street would be a decent venue as well.

Can I ask why Davey Blaze wasn't there?  Not up to speed with whats been happening over the last year.

  3. I bought tickets but never went.  Not bothered about money but regret it now.  To be honest, I didnt like last years Hydro show and I don't like the Hydro as a venue at all.  The SECC show 2 years ago was brilliant and I hope they go back there next year.

In general, I have lost interest  in the product.  They seem to be getting left behind a bit by other UK promotions with the talent they are using and their fascination with bringing in stars from the Monday night wars is getting really old.  Also, I don't hold anything against them for their WWE relationship but it's killed a lot of the magic for me.

But I will give them another chance.

When do people reckon is the best point to start watching late 80s/early 90s WCW? I was thinking of starting at November 1988 when Turner bought out Crockett and the company actually started to be called WCW; but I've heard JCP stuff from '86 to '88 (all weekly shows available on the Network) is really good.

It's just kinda annoying me as WWF has got very logical starting points (1984, with Hogan's debut onwards, TNT and the MSG shows); I'm also following other time periods concurrently (1987 onwards now that Prime Time is up /  Attitude Era - Dec '97 onwards / WCW in mid 90s from first Nitro onwards), all of which I feel were good points to start without very much at all to catch up on in terms of ongoing storylines.

I've been listening to the Bryan & Vinny podcast for over a year reviewing NWA shows 30 years ago from that particular week.  After a while I started watching the shows myself.  Personally enjoying '87 more but there really isn't a great difference on the roster and the format of show since '86 so I would recommend starting from there and if it doesn't do much for you then maybe jump ahead?

You won't find much in the way of marquee matches but those shows have some amazing promos and the squash matches are really entertaining and funny.  It's the highlight of my wrestling week at the moment.
