I've been toying with the idea of doing a podcast for a bit - just as a bit of a project to work on, as well as honing presentational skills and whatnot, as well as giving me somewhere to talk about wrestling bloody loads without it just being in huge walls of text on here. I've just never really been able to settle on an angle - every sod has a podcast talking about wrestling, so what could I bring to the table that's different?

Was thinking yesterday that maybe something around wrestling history could be the key? I spent an inordinate amount of time on Sunday trying to work out the history of the Irish Whip (don't ask), and I'm sad enough to get really excited when I find reference to things in wrestling earlier than I had anticipated (I found what appears to be reference to tapping out to indicate a submission in the early 20th century, when I'd always assumed that it was something borrowed from UFC), so it could be an interesting route to go down. I'm not sure how much mileage it has, though, in terms of coming up with new content for each episode, or whether anyone would be interested.

It's definitely a saturated market!!!... naively a lot more so than we realised before we set up our podcast a year ago, so a niche idea is a must to try and stand out.

Ours is 2-fold - British Wrestling interviews (led by an actual qualified journalist :)) and our 'You Just Made The List' show (not sure where we came up with that name ;)) where listeners vote for a subject and then a top 10, which we count down on the episode.

The toughest thing is getting your name out there and building a following but your history idea is certainly different, so it should stand out from the crowd. Good luck with it!

I listen to it when they have a guest I'm interested in - really enjoy it when they're doing the interviews or talking about wrestling, but tend to skip the other parts like Tommy Dreamer's segment or their fan/mate who sounds like Stone Cold.

Yeah, we agree. There's a lot of skippable moments but the majority of it is interesting. We enjoy their interview style too... We have to admit though that the 'Tommy, Tommy, Tommy' bit is getting stuck in our heads!! :D

  3. Sorry! We got a bit over excited as we hadn't posted ANYTHING for a while!... (although, godawful is a bit harsh)... but to get things back on topic...

Anyone listening to E&C's Pod of Awesomeness? We're playing catch up with the episodes but enjoying it. Their chemistry and humour was never in doubt but we enjoy the fact they don't hold back on their opinions on the current WWE product. It's somewhat surprising given they are still linked to WWE but it's refreshing.

  4. Hi all... Our interactive show 'You Just Made The List' is still going strong thanks to listener votes. The most recent episode covered Top 10 British & Irish Champions in WWE and you can hear that here: https://audioboom.com/posts/6192211-episode-38-you-just-made-the-list-4-top-10-british-irish-champs-in-wwe (or download on Apple Podcasts/Stitcher), while the topic chosen by our Twitter followers for the next episode is SummerSlam main events and the survey for you to choose a Top 10 is here: https://t.co/Kl2d66nuHi

Also, our flagship show focusing on the British Wrestling scene most recently featured Ayesha Raymond from the Mae Young Classic! https://audioboom.com/posts/6257229-episode-39-women-s-wrestling-special-interview-with-ayesha-raymond

If you haven't heard us before, we've previously had interviews with Pete Dunne, Trent Seven, Tyler Bate, Damian Dunne and Dave Mastiff, as well as former WWE Superstars like John Morrison, Ryback, Cody Rhodes and many more!

  5. We've launched a new show, which hopefully you will enjoy!

We're still doing the regular episodes packed with interviews (most recently we were backstage at Lucha Forever and coming up we have interviews with an Impact Special with Josh Matthews and Rockstar Spud) but our new show is called 'You Just Made The List' (yes, we know, gimmick infringement) and it's co-hosted by WCPW's James R.Kennedy AKA Jamie Kennedy from WhatCulture.

It doesn't work without audience participation, as our listeners/followers pick a topic and then they vote to make a 'Top 10 List' - Now, do you get the show name?? :) - first up was Undertaker's top 10 Wrestlemania matches: https://audioboom.com/posts/5887060-episode-29-you-just-made-the-list-the-undertaker-at-wrestlemania - click the iTunes link on the page to download.

We'd appreciate thoughts/feedback and you can vote for the topic for Episode 2 below...

  6. The Prichard Show is still a very good format simply down to Bruce's inside knowledge, stories and he is funny. Conrad has developed a 'character' hence the constant 'catchphrases' but he does have to be careful about becoming grating and over the top.

He shouldn't be dominating the show. My pet peeve is him arguing with Bruce for the sake of it and cracking open a can right under the microphone!! That's extremely tedious but it gets on my nerves!!

Hopefully, our podcast won't get on your nerves... our latest episode is a must listen if you want to be a wrestling manager or just want to find out about that side of the business... we chatted to James R. Kennedy from WCPW, who also has some interesting comments for people who don't like the promotion: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-buzzards-wrestling-podcast/id1139943619?mt=2&i=1000383060601

  7. I used to find Conrad's Southern drawl on the Ric Flair podcast grating but he's tolerable on The Prichard Show, as he's actually quite good a pushing Bruce for better answers. It's a good format and works well for them. Bruce was in WWE and TNA combined for long enough that they should have enough interesting material to keep them going for a while!!

By the way, if you like British Wrestling Interviews, then you'll like our podcast. It's the main feature of our podcast and this week's guest is the WWE United Kingdom Champion Tyler Bate!

Search for 'The Buzzards Wrestling Podcast' on iTunes to download it. We've also interviewed former WWE talent like RVD, Ryback and Cody Rhodes. Give us a try, you will enjoy! :)

  8. Excuse the cheap plug but you will hopefully enjoy our podcast! It's a professional production and so far, we've had interviews with Trent Seven, Pete Dunne, Dave Mastiff, Clint Margera, Cody Rhodes, Ryback, RVD and more.

Our latest episode features Chikara Pro's founder Mike Quackenbush on why they've moved King Of Trios to Birmingham, England, which is obviously awesome news!! Anyway... please check us out:

If you got this far... thanks!

  9. Our latest podcast episode has just dropped on iTunes. It features a preview to Summerslam but also audio with Rob Van Dam! Some interesting stuff on how Vince McMahon 'broke his spirit', what character he almost ended up performing as in WCW, whether he's been contacted for the Draft and whether he's worthy of being in the Hall of Fame!

We have RAW Events and Lee Connor from Wrestling North East to thank for it. You can download it here: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/buzzards-wrestling-podcast/id1139943619?mt=2#episodeGuid=tag%3Aaudioboo.fm%2C2016-08-18%3A%2Fboos%2F4949662

    Thanks!

  10. We listened to that as well. He came across very well as a grounded guy who knows he's green but wants to improve. Good luck to him.

Listened to Braun Strowman on Austin's podcast last night, fair play to the guy, came across well I thought, very easy listen, clearly he is an athletic freak, didn't know much about him and his strongman stuff but he sounds a top bloke.

  11. We're a new podcast discussing The Mick Mahan Show (we loved the Jericho/Hardy podcast too!) but we're also aiming to shine more of a light on UK wrestling! But we need to help of fans like yourself to #FollowTheBuzzards and support us by listening/downloading/subscribing.

You can find us on iTunes & Audioboom (search Buzzards Wrestling) & we're on Twitter @TheBuzzardsPod.

Bear with us as we build but we're a bunch of wrestling fans who are also radio professionals & on the next episode, we hear from Rob Van Dam and we have interviews lined up with a host of British Wrestlers from the independent scene.

If you're a wrestler or wrestling promotion and would like to be on a future episode the email buzzardswrestlingpodcast@outlook.com

Sorry for turning this into a shameless plug but seriously, have a listen... We're bi-weekly at the moment by the way.

I am always looking for Wrestling podcasts or radio shows to listen to, both British and International.

I sometimes find myself listening to radio podcasts or shows just because they are going to be absolutely terrible or have someone on who is so beyond help that it is just funny to hear their opinions and hear them justify themselves and what they do!!

I know of Inside The Ropes is certainly one of the best ones and you can find them on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/theinsidenetwork?fref=ts

There is also The Indy Corner that always produce great shows that are worth a listen at https://www.facebook.com/TheIndyCorner?fref=ts

Does anyone know of any others that are worth a listen on a weekly basis?

  12. Hi,

We're aware that there are plenty to choose from but we've launched a new podcast where we'll be discussing WWE from a UK fan perspective but I also want to help showcase UK wrestling too.

We're West Midlands based if any of you are in that area but we can easily record interviews over the phone if you have a promotion of you're a wrestler. We will happily use it on future podcasts & help promote shows across the UK.

By day, some of our team are actually BBC journalists, so we're out to make this a real professional podcast in a radio studio but we obviously need a bit of a push to get us going!

Please follow us on Twitter @TheBuzzardsPod & you can listen to our debut episode here:

    https://audioboom.com/boos/4876850-episode-1-never-give-up-wwe-draft-battleground-stardust-s-gloves

(We're on Audioboom but in the process of getting it onto iTunes as well)

If you're interested in being interviewed or want to send us details of show you have coming up, then tweet us or e-mail buzzardswrestlingpodcast@outlook.com

    Cheers!

    Steve.
