    Mainly work in educational and Korean market books so probably not much parents might recognise sadly. My (temporary) site is www.daviesjames.com. Work's tapered off a bit recently so I've started just drawing whatever instead of cute rabbits all the time!

    Yeah, the induction was basically pointless - guy couldn't be less enthusiastic and wandered off outside before we got to weights, let alone a fitness plan. It's the only gym I have access to at the moment though. I'm going to have to look up techniques on YouTube I think!

     

    I'll look at the calories thing - I kind of just blindly went with what mfp told me, and I'm actually never hungry. That said, I might not be getting enough of some good stuff.

     

    Thanks for the advice both, I'll look into HIIT a bit further down the road. Bit frustrating being so out of shape, but can only get better eh...

     

    Was also thinking maybe swimming might be a good way to get the cardio going a bit?

  3. Started a new desk job in January - been a freelance illustrator until this year so had time to go on long walks etc. The job is really stressful which has resulted in me putting on a lot of weight.

     

    Started couch to 5k last week, week one was fine but the first day of week two killed me yesterday and I couldn't finish it after 4 minutes of running and shin splints. Joined the gym today and had the most useless induction, but it's full of other fatties so it might work. I'm just not sure what particular exercises I should be doing; I want to lose weight before I think about putting on muscle, and I apparently need to lose around three stone...

     

    On a 1500 calorie diet and have been pretty diligent with myfitnesspal for a while now. I eat the same thing every day pretty much and am careful with it.

     

    Any suggestions for how to start properly exercising in the gym? My cardio has gone to shit and building that up is the goal at the minute. I know that sounds like a stupid question but I was lost in there tonight.
