  1. My its been a while....

Just wanted to add a thought as I was genuinely sad to hear that PS has ended. No matter how people feel about Fin Martin or the magazine past or present, I have many fond memories of the magazine over the years. I was a reader since issue 1 and even wrote in a few times, plus before the age of the internet I used to run up massive phone bills listening to the 'ps hotline' (remember that?) to get all the Raw news.

Being a grown up father now, I find it hard enough to find the time to keep up to date with wrestling news and powerslam especially in recent years was a nice little update each month. 20 years is a good run for any magazine and looking back over the years PS has some the greatest wrestlers of all time feature in interviews, my particular favourite being the Brain Pillman one in the early years.

Goodbye Powerslam and Fin if your reading, thanks for the memories.

  2. Sorry got to add my thoughts ref Zac Snyder. I am really really looking forward to man of steel and am a huge fan if Zac Snyders films in general, why I hear you ask? Well it's not about the writing, script, feeling etc. As an avid fan of films, I have at home a fuck off massive tv and blu ray system and if there's one thing you can always count on with his films it that they will always look fucking amazing! His obsession with slow motion action scenes are his trade mark in all his films, even to the point that the cgi childrens film "owls of gowlhoon" he directed featured some amazing slow motion scenes. It's just owls fighting, but somehow he makes it epic!

Now I love watchmen, I dont have the time, nor be can be bothered to type out all the reasons why. But I for one love snyders films and always look forward to them as I know can I can always rely one thing, awesome massive slow motion HD scenes that will look amazing in cinema and again on my massive telly. Oh also Henry Cavil in the superman outfit gives me a boner.

I can't decide if that's fair enough and at least you're honest, or if it makes you a total simpleton. Either way that's just a sound and light show, and is absolutely not what I'm looking for out of a film.

Back on the Zac Snyder subject, to explain myself perhaps a bit better. I never expect Oscar winning Tarantino esc writing with his films, in fact I wouldn't want that from a Snyder film nor a superman film. If there's one thing, you always know what your getting and Snyder has a way of making things look epic, which I will perfectly suit Man of Steel. Take for example this scene:-

It's Owls, Cgi owls! But Snyder makes it look & sound epic. Now what really gives me a boner, is superman flying&fighting scenes done in this awesome/slow mo/ lord of the rings/great big bollocks in my pants style. As the flying cgi in Superman Returns (as much as I wanted to love it) was shite. I'm really hoping Snyder can add his trademark to some superman flight and give us some awesome fight scenes.

  3. There's lots to dislike in the Ben Affleck DareDevil movie, there's lots to enjoy too though, I liked it at the cinema and I find it easy to rewatch, Michael Clarke Duncan is great as Kingpin and it's one of the few times switching a character's race made sense and didn't seem token, I also maintain that DareDevil's costume is the best movie costume ever at bridging the gap between the comic and movies, it's well designed, doesn't look silly and still looks flashy and colourful enough that it didn't seem like they were trying too hard not to be like the comic.

Elektra (the movie) is one of the worst comic adaptations ever though.

I still really rate the daredevil movie also. I still like the fact they used a lot of old school 'wire work' as opposed to cgi. I mean yes there was cgi in it, but the whole film felt like a lot of effort had really gone into the whole look of it. Colin Farrell was ok as bullseye, they should of left Electra well alone

  5. Sorry to come in late and apologies if already mentioned. But I heard a rumour a long way back that Hollywood wanted to do the film 'civil war' from the rather awesome graphic novel of the same name. It does feature pretty much every superhero, but the most prominent in it are the ones featured in avengers assemble so with a small amount of story change, could be a huge and amazing movie. Also if you haven't read it, read it already!!!

  6. I've bought powerslam since well, ever and I honestly but it because I l love fin martins rantings. Being a man of 32 now who still loves wrestling, the main thing I love to do in my progressing years is moan and rant and reading a magazine once a month that echoes all my feelings about wrestling today is a pure joy. Yes fin does like to lay into certain people, but he's always done this, anyone remember when he would constantly lay into Brian 'kronik' Adams? I see him as a wrestling critic and read it for that, if wrestling was perfect all the time, well what would we all talk about?

  7. The hospital idea isn't so good because it is probably one of the first places that would be overtaken by zombies. The morgue is the first obvious source of zombies, and then the immobilised patients would be easy pickings for the zombies. Unless you could clear the hospital of the zombies, it would be a deathtrap

Trust me, we spent a whole weekend discussing this. The hospital is a small one, half of it is completley empty (has been for years) and the other 'new' half is mainly for elderly recovering from operations. There is a moruge, but its a small room round the back that is sealed with a huge metal door, so the zombies in there would be easily contained and disposed of if needed. The patients at the hospital, if zombified are very ill anyway so would'nt be able to get out of bed. The hospital is in an open ground area surrounded by fields one end and woods the other. The town is a good 2 miles away. So it woudl take any zombies a while to walk there and we would see them coming anyway. Becuase we know the place so well, we know where we could rally survivours and keep people alive and where all the food, first aid is stored. Plus buildng barriers at each gate would easily block off the hospital completly to any zombies that do make it out that far. Any that come through the fields we would see coming and would be easily kiled. So once in we could quite easily make the whole grounds ours and if needed could survive there for years on the local nature.
  8. we will all be paranoid now. lying in bed tonight not being able to sleep because we cant stop thinking about the what if!!???.anyway, the hospital is the best idea yet. you have:a stupidly big supply of all the drugsbedsemergency solar elecriticityweapons (ie, surgeons tools etc.)sterile bandages etc.food, water.the morge fridges to keep all the bodies so they wont smell.the waste furnace, again for bodies.and plus, all the fun of whizzing around long corridors in a wheelchair.CRACKING!!!! :D

See she gets it :D "The answer to infection is at Milford Hospital!"
  9. Actually myself and a friend of mine spent a whole weekend working out what we would do in a zombie situation. Even depending on the day. Baiscly there is an an old empty hopital near us with lots of open groudn around it. The plan basicly involves us getting our swords (we both own samurai swords) and getting out families etc to the hospital and locking ourselfs in. The roof has easy acess and we would be able to see them coming from a major distance.Basicly we would stay there and try not to venture into the towns. It's fun when you do formulate a plan like that, because it's actually harder than you may imagine.

What would you do for food and water? Onec you get to the hospital and regroup your thoughts, what next?
My girlfriend works in the 'New' parts of the hospital, there is plenty of food supplies to keep us going, plus beds and TV's/Radios. Hence we chose the hospital. So if there ever is a zombie crisis, you'll find myself at Milford Hospital.

  11. I know I'm asking for a 1000 'Yeah I Kicked some punks ass' replies. What I mean is have you ever had a legitimate fight with someone before. For that split moment all you saw was red and anything you'd seen in ECW wasnt even brushing he surface of the ammount of pain you wanted to cause this person. I've never been in a proper fight *touching wood*, closet I came was punching a drunk fat guy, wich im not proud of. But when it comes to fights, I think women do it much better, when you see them really go at each other, they just want to hurt the other person. Where as men go for punches to the head or members of this forum, crossfacess or sharpshooters. Women go straight for the hair and eyes with all claws lashing. Over to you,

  12. I have to admit, watching everyone singing "na na na heeyy goodbye" at Brock Lesner really sent chills down my spine. The way the crowd went from Goldberg "You sold out" to Brock then chantes Austin was brilliant. Its Wrestlemania, wether they were Smarks or normal, those fans were the real dedicated fans and they spoke up. Brock showed his inexperience and really let that crowd get to him too much. I loved WM20, a mate of mine was 9th row back and watching the event and seeing him waving was cool. Some of the best things for me,Ric Flair totally on formFoleys elbow off the apron~~~~~~Randy Orton getting the pin"The Buffet is closed"~~~~~~The fans speaking outVince calming them downTrish heel turn~~Angle vs Eddie (My fav match of the card)Benoit winning by tap out~~~~~~~~Bad things (not many)Rikishi and Scotty retaining in like 4 secondsAPA even being on the cardEvening Gown match (if theres no tits, then dont bother WWE(tm!))HBK bleeding everywhere again! NO NEED!Overall my favourite card of 2004 so far, had all the things a Wrestlemania needed. I knew Bret wouldnt show up so im not dissapointed he didnt.
