  1. Is there anywhere I can find the hilarious video of the PCW owner and Chris Masters showing up at a teenager's house and threatening him because the kid pirated PCW dvds? A mate of mine doesn't believe it actually happened.

  2. And I've always found Pollock to be one of the better podcast people out there, so it's a real shame he wastes his time with Bauer when he could be doing something much more enjoyable. Come to think of it, apart from his shows with Wai Ting, everyone he's associated with is a complete moron. Not just Bauer, but those two clowns on the LAW as well.

  3. Court Bauer is awful. I'm amazed he's still around. His track record is truly abysmal. First he ran a shit promotion, then he worked as a writer for WWE during one of the most barren creative periods in the history of the company, and just recently he masterminded the single worst PPV to ever be sold in the US not named Heores of Wrestling. His only value to the podcasts he's on are shilling his shit and crying over Gary Hart.

  4.

The could have just silenced all mics except his. His bit and stephs were both unnecessary

They may have been a bit unnecessary, but I don't blame either of them for wanting to milk just a little bit, how proud they are of what their developmental fed has become. NXT essentially exists as Hunter's dry run for when he has total control over everything, so I bet he's fucking over the moon with the audience they've been able to cultivate to the point where they can run the Barclays and tour the UK off their own bat. Fair play.

I get him being proud of it, but he's a heel on main tv. Love me on Nxt / hate me except when I tell as shit joke on raw. Be proud from the back.

NXT is an alternative reality from the main WWE show. NXT characters change when they go to the main roster (they’ve forgotten Neville’s first name was Adrian).

If that's the case then why were Naomi and Tamina in the front row cheering on Sasha during the Women's title match?

  5. That Billy Gunn comeback was a heartbreaker for me. I totally bought into the weekly JR hype of how he was the next big thing, so spent his entire recovery time anticipating him to be either the hit and run driver, or the next babyface worldbeater. The sharks at the top of the card back then had gobbled him up before his gammy arm had even healed.

IIRC, that stunner was basically a big 'it's not Billy Gunn, fuck that, mate!' segment, wasn't it? Austin well and truly ruined WWF in 2000, for sure.

I think it's more to do with Kreski leaving and Stephanie taking over creative than Austin coming back.

  6.

And there's so many modern alternatives and easy access to historical footage that WWE just isn't worth my time anymore.

    Time will tell.

I don't watch TNA and can take or leave Lucha Underground, if those are the promotions you're alluding to. WWE might be aggressively pursuing ROH, but they're not going anywhere. Neither is Japan, or Mexico, and the UK scene has a few guaranteed strong years ahead.

And the old stuff will always be there. If wrestling ended today there's enough footage out there to keep me occupied for life.

  7. If that's all it'll take then I think WWE isn't for you right now.

They've been doing it for a long time, but over the last 12 months in particular, WWE have told me repeatedly that if I engage my brain when watching their product, my intelligence is going to be insulted. No continuity, no logic, no semblance of a long term vision other than which pensioners are we going to bring back for Mania. No company, of any kind, insults their audience quite like the WWE. And I'm not just talking wrestling companies. ANY company.

This is a company with an incredible roster and no fucking clue how to utilize it. I've said the same thing after every PPV this year - "Good to great wrestling, abysmal booking". Every single one. And the booking is so bad it's become very hard to just sit back and enjoy the wrestling. It's almost impossible when you have Bray Wyatt interrupting matches for no reason, the stupid ass Money in the Bank holder ruining the best match of the year, and now old ass fucking Undertaker, whose been shit for 90% of his career anyway, returning to "get his win back" over the hottest commodity on the roster. And this is just one complaint of many.

The wrestling is mostly very good, but it's not good enough to override some of the shittiest booking ever seen outside of a Vince Russo penned product. And there's so many modern alternatives and easy access to historical footage that WWE just isn't worth my time anymore. I'll happily put my £9.99 towards NJPW World or NWA Classics instead.

  8. Observer reports the plan is for Brock Lesnar to lose to Taker at Summerslam. I surely can't be the only person that think that's the most pointless and counterproductive option.

If that happens then it's the final nail in the "WWE isn't for me anymore" coffin. Hate to sound so dramatic, but I'll be done with the company for a long while if this happens.

  9. He had great matches and was extremely likeable, wasn't much to get really.

Pretty much this. Not to mention the best wrestler of the last decade by some distance.

Punk is an arse, sloppy in the ring, and only got over as a main eventer by being allowed to do and say things else no one else could. Would happily never see him back.

  10. I'm a big believer in wins and losses mattering. But losing a feud to John Cena isn't the problem here. It's John Cena, the ace of the company for the last ten years. If you can't afford to lose to John Cena then you can't afford to lose ever. Cena's role as the ace is to defeat all the heels who stand in his way. Then when someone does eventually beat him clean it's a big deal. Owens will always have that. Imagine if Wyatt, Rusev, Brock and Rollins had all pinned him clean in the last 12 months. The Owens win would mean nothing. A win against John Cena is one of the few things that still means something because John Cena is one of the only protected members of the roster. He shouldn't be losing clean more than once a year.

It's all about the aftermath. Owens should have murdered someone on Raw to at least get some of his heat back. Having him out there with the scrubs during the Taker/Brock brawl did immeasurably more damage than tapping out to Cena, and was very telling about how he'll be booked going forward.

  11. Why arent people in this thread raving about the Undertaker and Lesnar brawl? It might have been the best thing on Raw all year. I was buzzing watching it. It was magic.

It was great, but see my previous post:

"WWE show they're still capable of putting on a hot Raw segment, just a shame it involved a pensioner and a part timer."

Personally, it doesn't matter what The Undertaker does. I don't want to see that old fart on my TV anymore. I don't want to see Cesaro, Owens, Sheamus and Rusev be treated as absolute scrubs by being lumped in with all the jobbers tasked with breaking up the brawl. If anything, it was the perfect representation of everything I find wrong with WWE right now.

  12. I still quite like Mahon on the Attitude Era podcast but couldn't stomach his new one with the woman.

I should really give the New Gen show a real crack, only listened to one random episode a while back and thought it was pretty good.

Flair's pod is still delivering the goods. He treads that line fine line between triumph and disaster, but the entertainment value is there regardless. First it was the Sullivan interview where both were hammered, then he has JJ Dillon on the show and decides to have his dinner during the interview. Amazing stuff.

  13. USA make fuck all money directly from WWE, because advertisers aren't interested in spending money on the inbred poorhouse morons who watch wrestling. That's why WWE are getting sued over their claims the 2014 TV contract would be an untold fortune. USA pretty much break even on the new deal, but the value is in where the Raw ratings puts USA on the overall cable stats. So the third hour is important to them. And their money is keeping Vince's head above water.

Plus we all cried about everything when it was two hours anyway, so it's silly to think going back to that would be a magic fix. They could incorporate every bringbackoldthings suggestion ever put forward and it'd make nary a difference to the amount of complaints.

I'm under no illusion that the product would suddenly be perfect if they went back to 2 hours. They'd still do stupid shit, only it might last five minutes rather than ten. With two hours, maybe they wouldn't feel compelled to give away every fresh match up on free TV. Maybe every character on the roster wouldn't feel over exposed. Maybe I'd actually be able to sit through an entire episode and recommend it to a lapsed fan. There's no way I'd recommend Raw to anyone right now. I often get asked what Raw's like these days and my reply is usually along the lines of "Terrible, three hours is impossible to sit through. Don't bother". Even during these terrible stretches people have been saying it "could have been a decent 2 hour show". And how is anyone supposed to get into wrestling when the flagship show is THREE HOURS long every single week?

In theory, despite what I've just said, I'm not fundamentally opposed to three hours. I am opposed to uninspired, asinine booking. The three hours helps facilitate this.

  14. Why is RAW three hours these days? From the sounds of it, WWE are really struggling to fill those three hours with an engaging show that is performing poorly ratings-wise too.

USA Network wanted 3 hours. WWE aren't going to say no to the extra ad revenue, even if it's causing long term damage.

The best thing could happen right now is for the ratings to continue declining and USA dropping the third hour.
