  1. I think that quite a lot of people should like the song I'm going to upload today. It's by maybe my favourite band in the world right now, The Ergs. They're a punk band who I think sound a bit like The Descendents. However, they have a sound that is diverse enough to attract people who usually wouldn't like that kind of stuff, but not so diverse that it's pretentious. The song I'm going to upload doesn't actually sound like most of their other stuff, but it is fucking brilliant in every way. The youthful energy of the band absolutely oozes out of every intelligent lyric, I've really heard nothing like their 2 albums in terms of energy since Milo Goes To College or something. Anyway, here's the song:

The Ergs - Books About Miles Davis

  2. My song of the day is one of the greatest pop punk songs of all time: The Ergs - Everything Falls Apart (And More). I saw this band when I was in America recently and Christ, they're awesome. There's so much energy and urgency, it's like listening to Milo Goes To College for the first time. They are rightfully starting to get more recognition and praise and I think in a few albums time people will look on them as being an absolutely essential part of the punk scene. This track is from their great record "Dork Rock Cork Rod" which was released a few years ago. They just released a new one too called "Upstairs/Downstairs" which is great also. Check them out if you like this track.

  3. Here's a song from the new Ben Weasel album, he is the former frontman of legendary pop punk band Screeching Weasel who influenced a whole generation of bands. This is his second solo record and the line up for this one is Ben Weasel, the guitarist and drummer from All American Rejects and Dan from Alkaline Trio on bass. The whole album rules, but I think this is one of the most instantly catchy songs for anyone not familiar with Weasel's style.

Ben Weasel and His Iron String Quarter - Got My Number

  4. Time to get involved with this thread again. This time, I bring you the greatest punk rock song of all time:

    NOFX - Linoleum

I'm quite sure anyone in to punk will have heard this song before, but if you haven't, you should check it out. This song embodies everything I love about music.

  5. At the request of Mr. Seven, I'm going to upload several songs by one of the greatest bands of all time, The Ataris. Check earlier in the thread for one or two that I posted back then, and enjoy these classics:

The Ataris - The Last Song I Will Ever Write About A Girl

This song is one that I'm sure a lot of people will relate to. Another fine example of Kris Roe's brutally honest lyrics that strike a chord with everyone who hears them. It also contains one of my favourite lyrics ever: "Why do I never seem to learn that love is wrong and girls are fucking evil?".

The Ataris - Make It Last

Here's one off their first album, more traditional Lookout style pop punk. Still superb lyrically and extremely catchy.

The Ataris - Summer Wind Was Always Our Song

Finally, here's one off their "End Is Forever" record. This one had a video so many people might already be familiar with it, but check it out if you haven't.

  6. My song for today is by one of the greatest bands of modern times, and would rank among my favourite songs ever written.

The Lawrence Arms - 100 Resolutions

One of the many reasons I absolutely adore this band is that you can hear the passion oozing out of the music, you can tell every single word is coming straight from the heart. Great musicians too, with some superb vocal harmonies. The track I've chosen is actually from a split EP they did with The Chinkees, but can also be found on their superb B-Sides album "Cocktails and Dreams". If you love this track, I suggest purchasing their entire discography immediately.

  7. My choice for today is from one of the greatest bands of all time: Descendents - Cool To Be You . If it wasn't for the Descendents, some of today's most popular music would likely never have existed, musicians such as Tom DeLonge are well known for idolising this band in their youth. This particular song is off their last album from 2004 called "Cool To Be You", despite their best material generally being in the 80s, I feel this is one of the greatest pop punk songs ever made.

words cant describe how much i love that song! :music::love::love:
Glad you like it, just realised I got the title wrong in the post, the song is actually Nothing With You.

  9. Alright, here's a song I've loved since the first time I heard it The Putrid Flowers - New World. This is a band who have released 2 albums, they got dropped from their label after the first one and then released the second one for free online. This track is from their first album, but if you like this you can download both albums from their website here. I guess they sort of sound like a cross between Pop Punk like The Methadones and Gainseville Punk like Hot Water Music, check them out.

  10. My song of the day is the utterly fantastic "Have A Good 'Un Girl" by Captain Everything. These guys are my favourite band in the UK right now - saw them live supporting Lagwagon last week and they were just incredible, so tight for such a fast band. The song here is only 40 seconds long so you've got no excuse to at least check it out.

  11. I love that Ataris song PC, so you (and the nice weather) have inspired me to upload one of my fave Ataris songs, well, it's not really their song, their cover of Don Henley's "Boys Of Summer". I fucking adore this, it's a real "getting ready to go out on a Saturday night" song. The Ataris - Boys Of Summer

That's a really great cover, Kris Roe's voice suits the song absolutely perfectly and it makes the song sound huge. I think I'm going to abandon all other music for the summer and just listen to The Ataris and maybe Blink 182.
Oh god. Ruins the original. :(
    How so?

  13. Ok, my song for today is one of my favourite songs of all time The Ataris - San Dimas High School Football Rules. This is one of the greatest love songs ever written and I'm sure most people will be able to relate to the lyrics in some form or another. It brings a tear to my eye that The Ataris produced some of the best albums I've ever heard and now it's all gone wrong with their most recent release which is the worst thing I've heard in my life.

Check this song out, it's amazing.

  14. Loved the Walkman song, Seven. Great work.

More people should get involved in this as it is really a great idea for a thread and has so far resulted in many people discovering new music.

Ok, time for my song of the day. This is a band I'm sure many people are already familiar with, but for anyone who isn't here's The Get Up Kids - Holiday. One of the most influential bands of the last decade and the band I'm probably the most gutted about never seeing live. I'd say that they are perhaps the most underrated band ever - in terms of being so massively influential but not really known by the mainstream. I suppose they'd be classed as emo (as in 90s emo, not Taking Back Sunday emo) - but this is a particularly punky song. Let me know your thoughts.

  15. I also liked the Fall Out Boy song. I must pick up that album, as it sounds a lot edgier

Oh, absolutely. I remember back when the album first came out, I didn't really know much about the band back then but there was such a buzz around them, like everyone knew just how huge they were going to become. To be fair to them, I like the more recent stuff too, but Take This To Your Grave represents the peak of their career.
