  1. Fuck that shit. I am not even going to watch the trailer. I don't need to see Arnie Flairing it up. As far my revisionist history is concerned The Last Stand was his 'retiring with grace' film.

A friend of mine has just asked me on Facebook why this is any different than Star Wars bringing back Harrison Ford etc. My reply was this:

The Star Wars trailer got so many things right. It showed you just a little, and not too much, and crucially, didn't show you Luke, Han, or Leia at all. They've kept you waiting to see what they do. They've cast relative unknowns in new roles they can grow into, and wisely made them the focus of the trailer, not a photoshopped pensioner. Plus, Star Wars isn't rewriting history like this is, and while they've recast the roles of Kyle Reese, John Connor and Sarah Connor, they've kept Arnold as the Terminator, It makes it look... bizarre, like cheap fan fiction that Arnold was asked to star in as a favour.

  2. Not sure if this is slightly off topic but this is the trailer for Terminator: Genisys

This looks bloody awful. Terminator movies have been getting progressively worse since Terminator 2. They've nicked the idea of resetting the timeline from Star Trek, but can't resist putting in homages to the original. Arnold is now TOO OLD to be a bloody Terminator, and Jai Courtney has all the acting range of a wardrobe. Hollywood, please stop rebooting/remaking/reimagining. Make some new movies.

  3. I'm just revisiting the game after ploughing through all the Mass Effects and Watch Dogs. I'd concentrated on story before now, but slowly getting into online more. Are we allowed to leave PSN tags etc here?

  4. I'm going to be perfectly blunt here - I stopped buying FSM last year. I enjoyed the focus on debate based articles, like would the WWF roster of 92 measure up against the one today, or who picked the gimmicks that wrestlers like The Undertaker inhabited. There was also pieces (like the old PowerSlam "in depth" articles) that talked about a wrestler's career and where he could feasibly go next in the company. Along with the news, that was interesting stuff. Now? Page after page after page on British wrestling - which while I accept has a large following, doesn't particularly interest me - tons of celebrity columns that essentially repeat the article that went before it. I get Jim Cornette isn't a fan of WWE and loved the old territories - do we have to read that every month? And don't get me started on the yearly plug for 2K.

I'd like to see things like:

Top 10 PPVs of all time

Does a headliner need a championship belt to prove his worth?

Picking a year and seeing how different promotions were faring, in the ring and out of it, say for example comparing 1988 in WCW and WWF.

How the role of the manager has changed over the years.

The history of a title, like the Intercontinental Championship or WCW Tag Team belts.

Now PowerSlam has gone under, the FSM50 would be a good gauge of talent and how they have progressed over the last 12 months.

  5. One of his principle reasons was that he would be a one shot deal against Taker where he would inevitably lose, and he didn't see the point in that.

Where did you read that? Sting wrestles in a t-shirt in front empty buildings these days. Principles and quality control isn't on his agenda. He doesnt give a fuck about doing a job for huge money and then going home for the rest of his life. Sting's all business. The reason he's never went to WWE is because of money. Turner paid him more and the Carters paid him more. This is the window of opportunity where WWE will be able to pay him and more I imagine this is the best chance of it happening.

This quote from last June seems to say he doesn't care about losing for a big payday.

  6. The one I suggested above is the one I'd like to see, and I think it's be a great way to tie everything together. If they get everything sorted as the end of the year comes along, I think they'd much prefer to do "filler" feuds up until the Rumble, when they can then get the whole "Road to WrestleMania" build up going. I don't think they have the capacity to long term book from now until next March if it's not a Cena/Rock scale match.

I think HHH would get back out there for a match, if he thought it would draw - I've seen on some sites the possibility of a one on one with Big Show at Survivor Series but the bigger draw could well be a War Games match with those above, plus it means they would have a main event that people would definitely pay to see, rather than spreading stuff out over the whole pay per view. Rock after all tagged with Cena in the Survivors before their first meeting.

And on the Mania stuff - I think it's highly unlikely they'll persuade Sting to turn up for a one shot deal against Taker, even though it would be everybody's dream match and would draw hugely. I've read numerous interviews with Sting where he's talked about considering going to WWE, even as recently as last year, and had turned it down. One of his principle reasons was that he would be a one shot deal against Taker where he would inevitably lose, and he didn't see the point in that. Goldberg would work in a one off, and I agree with one of the above posters, it's gotta be a squash, as he's not Rock/Lesnar level. The only way I could see him doing something other than a squash would be a 5 minute effort with Ryback where he would go over, just so they could say they've done the match.

I would also be massively surprised if Hogan didn't make an appearance at WM 30.

  7. I've just caught up with Raw (yet to watch Smackdown). I honestly think this is heading to a match at Survivor Series with Cena, Big Show, Bryan and the Rhodes boys against HHH, Orton and The Shield. That would actually be quite a good outcome for this whole thing.

  8. I had a weird fascination with Kamala when I was a kid. It seemed like he always promised an appearance but never showed up. There was a few Royal Rumbles I was waiting with baited breath for him. Kamala vs Bam Bam dropping out of WrestleMania IX was a crying shame. I was hungry for blood after the Boss Man good kicking and thought the Ugandan Warrior from Deepest Darkest Africa was the man to deliver Bam Bam Bigelow's tattooed head on a plate to me. Alas it was not the case. Shame really. I'm over it now, though.

I tried to make his shield and mask out of cardboard for my hasbro figure... They were shite.

Strangely, that particular figures arm snapped off after dropping it down the stairs. No chance of it being one of his feet, they were moulded together

Warlords foot did snap off though after Patrick through it at the dog.

It sounds more and more like a shady early 90's road trip.

    Anyway...

Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "Pearl River Plunge"...

  9. I'm just a little worried that some of this huge swathe of a storyline isn't going to get a payoff - back in the old days (when Pepperidge Farm remembers), feuds were drawn out over a long period, and a PPV provided a payoff for the storylines that had built up over a long time. I know things are very different now, but I really would like things to come to a head - ie: Bryan getting one over on Orton, The Rhodes boys getting their own back on the Shield, and Big Show finally snapping and twatting Triple H - maybe even AJ gets her hands on Steph. I'd just like a sense of closure when, eventually, it's run it's course.

  10. Has someone just decided Hornswoggle is so bloody ugly that he has to cover his face up like a Mantaur tribute act?

Its Mascarada Dorada isn't it? I half think that the gimmick was designed to get him on the air doing something. Give it a little bit and he'll be one of the msot over acts on the show.

I couldn't tell to be honest - I just don't like the gimmick.

  11. tumblr_mtz9pgLAQs1sbzhteo6_250.gif

Right, I'm halfway through watching Raw, and this... this.... image just hit me (thank you Cobra by the way for capping it ;-)) But what the Hell is going on? Has Tito Santana suddenly been given a measure of control behind the scenes and resurrected his gimmick? Has someone just decided Hornswoggle is so bloody ugly that he has to cover his face up like a Mantaur tribute act? Has someone seen The Mark of Zorro and thought "we must get this gimmick on air NOW"? I get the colour pink, but are they really trying to kid people it's not Primo and Epico? What next? Hunico resurrected and repackaged as the New Ultimate Warrior? Jesus wept.

On another point, I agree with the above poster who said there's fuck all going on. Same promos from Bryan, Orton being as interesting as a snooker table, Big Show crying, Alberto Del Rio (just in general, he doesn't have to do anything). But the target audience now is conditioned to like Cena and expect him to be there - stands to reason there'll be a downturn when he's not on TV. I really don't want them to rush him back though - not because I'm sick of the guy (which I'm actually not), but they need to give him the time to heal up properly, otherwise his longevity is going to take a serious hit.

  12. I loved Bobby Heenan, still the best heel commentator there's been for me. So sad that he was affected with the disease he had - if he wasn't so inform, I'd love to see WWE pay tribute to him in some way, like having him as a special guest at Mania 30, but alas that won't happen now...

  13. I mostly enjoyed the show - although as a Big Show mark, I really don't like the "crying giant" schtick he's been dumped with at the moment - he's not really putting anyone over, and I still don't get the "Iron Clad Contract but I can still fire you" idea.

I'm personally waiting for him and Mark Henry to just turn up one week as back up for Bryan and the other persecuted faces, say balls to the McMahons and paste HHH, Orton and The Shield.

While we're on the subject, I would love to see a match at Survivor Series with HHH, Orton, and The Shield vs Goldust, Cody, Bryan, Miz and Big Show.
