I think Raw has improved quite a bit recently. While three hours is still far too long for a weekly wrestling show, most of the content is enjoyable.

    Smackdown is utter balls, though.

I think that's part of the problem as well, with Dynamite and NXT, I have neither the time nor the appetite to pile on 5 hours of nonsense on top of my weekly fix

  2. WWE aside from NXT, has been complete bollocks since Wrestlemania last year, and arguably even long before that, masked by the Kofi and Becky runs.bI think this past 12 months, for me at least, has been the worst year in the company's history. Nothing seems to matter on any of the main roster shows.

  3. Support what you love and what you want to see. You can't complain about a lack of alternative to WWE, and then when it arrives not support it.

It was an enjoyable show, with good production values and the Cody/Dustin match was worth the 15 quid alone.

  4. While I'm here, has anybody read The Squared Circle: Life, Death, and Professional Wrestling by David Shoemaker and can you recommend it?

I haven't read it yet, but I think it's mostly a collection of his Grantland columns, which are spectacular. Shoemaker's the best wrestling writer out there today, by far, really smart, insightful, and he's got a huge cultural frame of reference, unlike most of the 'wrestling writer' types who work in the wrestling bubble, and just regurgitate what the million other terrible columists have already said.

Cool. I'll pick it up. I enjoyed him on the Torch livecasts, which was where I heard about his book and my only exposure to him. Might as well get the hardcover, the Kindle edition is more expensive then that.

It's a wonderful book. I don't think it is made up of a collection of Grantland pieces, rather, it's all original material. It traces the history of American pro graps from the golden age right up to modern day, using greats that have passed away as the spine of the narrative. It's the best book about Pro Wrestling that I have ever read.

  5. Just signed up but no joy.

I'm using US-Unblocker, on a Windows 7 laptop. It all appears to be setup correctly, says address is current and that I'm ready to go. Whenever I try to watch something via the network through my browser, I just get a black screen saying Media Error: Video not available

I am maybe missing something simple here, but anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? Curiously, on US-Unblocker it says "Netflix Region Picker" is set to US, although I'm guessing this doesn't really mean anything?

Weirdly, I can get it working through Internet Explorer, but not chrome or Firefox?

  7. Personally speaking I just find the lack of confidence that the company have in their current roster disheartening. Yes, the WWE network will have a lot of historical content, but why not include the current hottest commodity in the company to rep what they currently have to offer?

  8. Really enjoyable episode this week. Thought Big Cass did a terrific job in the sing-off with Aiden English, I was actually laughing out loud at some of the lines. All of the matches were good this week too, with the exception of the quick job Mason Ryan did for Breeze, which never really got going.

Looking forward to checking this out when I get home. Was on too late for me last night. How was the Zayn/Kruger match?

  12. You can't beat a good crowd! When Punk departed with the title, the Chicago crowd played a massive part in getting that match over!

That Chicago crowd was the hottest crowd in years. They were a huge contributing factor to why that match is considered a classic. This is the problem, WWE aren't giving their audiences anything to go crazy over at the moment...
