  1. Summerslam 92 was almost 28 years ago, where the 10 year old me went to his first wrestling event. That seems unfathomable. Every decade that has gone by since I've said to myself "can't believe that was 10 years ago" etc, and now we're nearly 30 years ago. My dad would have been 42 at the time and you always think your parents are ancient, and now I'm nearly at that age! Madness.

  2. Summerslam 92. I still remember the day my mum told me my dad had got us tickets when she picked me up from primary school. We went down on a coach. There was a lad on said coach that thought he was going to Blackpool for the day, until his mum and dad told him he was actually going to summerslam. The 10 year old me was absolutely blown away by it all, something I’ll never forget.

  3. Little known fact... as most people know the FWA was originally called the Fratton Wrestling Alliance... and probably would have stayed that way for a little while longer if it wasn’t for John Feltham who insisted on promoting it as the “Frontier wrestling alliance” in his Wrasslin’ Post newsletter.

  4. Where was the actual site of wrestlemania 9? I've just got back from Vegas and was trying to work it out. I know it was on the grounds of Caesars palace hotel. There was a bit of a make shift arena at the front beside the strip which had 2 tiered sections on either side of it but not sure if it looked big enough (although tv can be deceiving),

  5. Just a random thought here...

I started reading PS in around 1994 because i remember being in whsmiths and seeing the cover which had sabu and a couple of others on from ecw. i think the event was "the night the line was crossed". I was 11 years old and as a pure wwf fan and never heard of anything outside of Wwf and wcw i was completely taken in. Seeing that cover was the sole reason i bought the mag.... Which is why i could never understand in later years - when the mag stopped covering non big three promotions as much - when they were criticsed for it, the writer's (e.g. Mo chatra) old argument of "our readers dont care about anything other than WWE so theres no point writing about it"... The reason i bought powerslam in the first place was because it showed a promotion i had never heard of on the front cover (and at that point Ecw was completely unknown in the uk) and i continued to buy it religously for at least 10 more years!

  6. I remember my friend spotting a copy of COMBAT magazine in my bag at college (it had an article on EWW in it which I wanted to read). When he asked what I was doing with a martial arts magazine (I had never shown any interest in the subject in my entire life and I'd known the guy for years and he thought I'd stopped watching wrestling years earlier) I came up with some completely over the top bullshit excuse about my mum wanting it for school (she's a BIOLOGY teacher) as they were doing a seminar on how to protect yourself. Absolutely rediculous cover up. I'm still not sure if he bought it or not as I swiftly changed the conversation.

You're that ashamed of being a fan of pro wrestling?

This was almost 12 years ago and was my first year at college meeting new people - there was no way I was letting that bad boy out the bag ..... quite literally.

My recordings of PPVs in 2000 made me very popular at college when I showed them on Mondays, this was probably the most accepting time in hisotry of being a wrestling fan

Yes it was because my first year at college must have been 98/99 and I remember by the 2nd year everyone was watching it - even people were watching it in the library. Still I wasn't risking it. Each to their own. As it turns out I don't really watch it anymore apart from wrestlemania each year but I'm happy to talk to people about it and my experiences as a fan. Can't believe it's been nearly 20 years since I was sat in wembley stadium watching summerslam 92. Scary.

  8. I can only buy FSM in WHSmiths in Sunderland. I can't find it anywhere else. Power Slam seems to be everywhere now, though. Which is typical considering I never buy it anymore. When I collected PS, I'd be down the fucking down every Thursday pissing about on my dinner break and sneeking it back in work up my coat so nobody would see me with an oily picture of Triple H on the cover.

I specifically remember hiding a copy of PS I bought before school which had Raven on the front cover in 2000. I'd of had it twice as hard, people would have assumed both gay, and grunge fan.

  9. I've met the Kings of Leon at their aftershow part at the Blackpool Empress Ballroom a couple of years ago! All were top guys! Almost got floored by Calebs bouncer at the start for walking up to him as he entered the room. Was cool after that though. Not many can say they've took a piss next to Jared Fallowhill whilst talking about how skanky Blackpool is! My mate asked Caleb if he had shagged Kate Moss. The look on his face was classic! They did a little acoustic thing afterwards but most of us got lobbed out at that point.
