  1. Off to Hellfest at 4.30 am. Very excited, it's definitely the best line up in Europe. www.hellfest.fr to make you all jealous :D There's a slight chance I'll consume an alcoholic beverage or two over the course of the weekend...

Enjoy! Even though I am slightly jealous, it would take a lot to haul my hairy drunk arse to France!

  2. I had a listen to the earthtome9 EP. It's good but not quite as good as i hoped. The third track 'The Trail That We Carved out' is really good though.

Also been listening to a couple of new tracks. Suicide Silence - You Only Live Once. Slightly dissapointed. But still enjoyable and i'm looking forward to their album.

    And

. I love this band. This song manages to sound like them, while being very different to anything off there album. It's them at there most pop like and at there heaviest. There not particular well liked by the usual 'metal crowd' and they seem to love that. Especially with there recent black metal press release.

I've seen the promo shots, the girl in the band looks fit as fuck with the corpsepaint on. I dont know what it is about that stuff!

  3. Anybody heard any good, new-ish Black Metal lately?

The new Gallhammer album is good, but if your looking for stuff closer to home: Fen, Winterfylleth, Eastern Front

Are Dragged into Sunlight classed as black metal? There still good anyway.

  4. Shame the Bayley era is still being conveniently ignored for that collection, Virus and The Clansman are 2 brilliant tracks. On the subject of hating bands that everyone seems to swoon over, am I alone in not liking Deftones? Although not strictly metal, they just bore me.

Snap! It seems there are some bands you need to like just because your into 'metal'. So if your into metal, your unique, just like everyone else.

  5. anyone heard Times of Grace yet?

ive heard the track that came on the free cd that came with Metal Hammer, it was pretty good but as expected. If anyone preffered Jesse Leech singing for Killswitch Engage you're probably gonna love it, but i was expecting something a little different.

I'll still get the album when i can.

Wasn't he the guy from Glassjaw? They were all right likes. But KSE I never got at all, metalcore-meh, mind you I'm biased.

who was the guy from Glassjaw? Jesse Leech is the original singer of Killswitch Engage...Times of Grace is him re-teaming with Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz.

Hmm I thought that Jesse Leech was in Glassjaw, no matter. I'm much more interested in a Vision of disorder reunion it'll never happen again

  7. Depends, with death metal i tend to prefer the catchier type of stuff, something you can probably bang your head too. I aint too much into the death pig squeal stuff, some bands just seem to go with overly extreme for the sake of it.

In that case knock Amputated off the list, add-Embalmer, Disgorge(mexico), desecration, origin, aborted.

  8. my death metal education continues... i know the basics of the genre, but there's so much stuff i haven't heard. Trying to discover some new shit, and got on the case of this after checking out what bands Chris Barnes has been involved with:

    TorKillSwarmCover2.JPG

this was the only Torture Killer album that Barnes was vocalist for, and it's fucking fantastic. It's basic stripped down Death Metal, not overly technical and just crushingly awesome. The riffs on this album made me shit my pants.

Any death metal fans here? recommend me some more shit!!

Depends how heavy you want to go? You cant go wrong with Dying Fetus. My latest discoveries-Avulsed, Amputated, even Vomitous and Vomitory. Lol ive got a few lol im in the mood now for Exhumed-Gore Metal

  9. Anybody got results for last nights CZW show in Germany?

    Drew Gulak over Swann

    Jonathan Gresham over Greg Excellent

BLK Jeez and Moore fought to a Time Limit Draw

    Adam Cole over Zack Sabre

Hyde over Bad Bones - Deej invited Bones to a rematch, anytime, anywhere..

    Sami Callihan over Masada

Drake Younger over Gage - Polak distracted Gage, so Drake could do a Drakes Landing on a chair

Mox over Danny Havoc, after the match, Drake attaked Danny, so he turned heel

    Copied and pasted from wrestlingnewssource.com

cheers for that! Im not liking Rich Swann getting beat! Swann vs AR Fox id love to see that!

  10. http://lightworkers.org/wisdom/114776/worl...october-13-2010

Thought this relevant to the thread. Although it's farfetched, it seems to fit in with the recent UFO and alien related stories over the past few years and would definitely be cool if it happened.

Did anyone see the news about New York today?

    http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2010/1...ufo_frenzy.html

You know, a little mass hysteria never hurt anyone...still pretty interesting though.

  11. I recall watching a documentery about the possibilities of aliens.

Imagine picking up a stone in the garden, you see bugs, a few ants and generally lower life form than us intellectual humans.

Do you stop and think how you would talk to them? Interact with them? or do you carry on doing the gardening?

Now imagine your an alien species travelling through space, somehow come across our planet. Now you can travel long distances, obviously your a higher intelect and life form than us mere humans.

Would you stop and think how you would talk to us? Interect with us? or would you carry on doing what you were doing?

This, ladies and gentlemen, I feel has nailed this alien theory on the head. I'd like to believe that theres some life out there, not necessarily 'hollywood aliens'. But at least something we can all learn from, but if THEY cant learn from us then isnt it a lost cause?

  12. any Helmet fans on the board? they've just released a new album...

    61QJ0rD881L._SL500_AA300_.jpg

    and it sounds fucking great!

The idiot in me ALWAYS confuses Helmet with Halford, whether thats a Freudian slip or not i dont know. Although i think i can recall catching a glimpse of Helmet(the band) at Download back in 2004! Didnt like them, so dont think its gonna be a purchase, unless there style now is a new jazz fusion of EBM cross over thrash...only released on cassette...

  13. i haven't heard Co-Exist, that was abit of a gamble buy, but from reading reviews it sounds like something i would like.

What kind of death metal you like? clearly a Bloodbath fan judging by the name, but im always keeping a ear out for bands, i like all kinds of rock/metal.

Depends on my mood really, im listening to Origins s/t album- real technical, precise drumming, but othertimes id put on,Entombed, later napalm death, possessed. I like to be eclectic, not elitist you see! Anyway bands you want to check out are- Embalmer, an american deathgrind band going for 20 years, they have a myspace with their demo from last year! Also check out corrupt absolute. The only bands i'd mention are scottish bands (keeping the scene alive, see) Nerrus Kor-old school death metal, Cancerous womb-gore,grind death, threshold sicks-thrashdeath(not my favourite tbh, but each to their own). See what you think.

  14. Never been into hardcore really, just mainly death metal, but i do recall seeing stamping ground in a wee pub in dundee called drouthy neebors. I was only 14-15 at the time, but i remember the venue being a constant circlepit in a room no more than 6 mtrs long, 3 wide. I miss local gigs. Co-exist too! What a cracking album, full on grind with choke chain, thrash with fear of sharks 10 or so more grind tracks then the song entitled 'stress related killing', such a diverse brutal band that never got the recognition it deserved, which is a shame cos the patriot in me wouldve had co-exist, sons of slaughter, bonesaw and achren signed cos there just as important as our heaviest extreme import, man must die!
