  1. No idea why they kept him doing the same move after they changed it back to it's original name.

Because he'd won the world title and won WrestleMania main events with it and it was an established part of his act?????

But surely any act can be ammended over time?, if a decent amount of time was spent getting another finishing move over he could very well be using that finisher to win main events it doesn't have to be an stf.

  2. His STF isn't tight (and I do think that could do with tightening up, though I wonder if he's conscious of it looking too violent for his character - in which case, it'd have been an idea to ditch it ages ago).

I personally think his STF is supposed to look like that, whilst it's not tight in the traditional sense, it does allow you to see the face of his opponent in full for them to actively sell it. More of an STF for TV

I've don't understood why they keep the STF as his finishing move now. During the pre-pg era it was done as cheap joke so they could call it the "stfu" along with his death valley driver move being called the "FU", rather than the "attitude adjustment" as it's called now.

No idea why they kept him doing the same move after they changed it back to it's original name.

I think he'd be better off doing a more simple submission finisher, like a leglock or something like the Boston Crab would be perfect especially since he's actually from Boston (or from Massachusetts anyway).

  3. Bad move to go public defending the company. Nothing worse when the wrestlers stick up for the promoter. Its like walking under a ladder or smashing a mirror. You just know poor Magnus is going to break his leg or something and Dixie's going to be all "we've got a bad reception Nick, I'll have to phone you back" when he asks for his wages. It happened to Bret Hart in 2000 when they cut his pay him half after getting kicked in the head. He just spent a year talking about how they treated him better than the WWF did as well. Its always the kiss off death.

I like Nick Aldis but sometimes he does embarass himself with his columns.I remember on one occasion he got all worked up about wrestling fans being interested in the real life animosity between Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarret regarding Kurt's ex-wife and Jeff's current wife Karen. This was of course just weeks before the whole thing was which made into an angle (using footage of Kurts children) that featured every week on TNA shows which all 3 people invloved seemed happy to particiapte in.Very strange considering it's none of our business as far as Aldis was concerned.
  4. Brain I was just wondering if there is anyone I can speak to/email about giving feedback on the Ultimate MMA special magazine?

I know it wasn't one of yours but it was advertised in Fighting Spirit so I assume it's some kind of sister publication?

Also for me the MMA coverage is just right in your magazine I actually got into MMA out of curiosity after buying early FSM for the Wrestling and reading about Brock Lesnar entering UFC.

I prefer reading a little coverage in a wrestling magazine rather than most "pure" MMA magazines that seem to be mostly aimed at people interested in being fighters themselves.

  5. However in a time where WWE has such a monopoly over the western wrestling industry, a devoted wrestling magazine would be mad not to put the promotion over. At the moment, WWE IS wrestling. There is no WCW or NWA that Powerslam can divert wrestling fans onto. TNA is still nowhere near, and am I right in thinking Powerslam hate them too anyway?

They loved the '05-'06 era if I remember correctly and were delighted when the fans voted TNA the promotion of the year in the year end awards. However I think that his love for the group faded in '08ish and at the point I stopped reading, he wasn't a fan of them at all.

Personally speaking I thought TNA was amazing during the 2005-2006 period of time and wasn't suprised it got promotion of the year over WWE.

I can still remember when fans would do TNA chants at WWE events when WWE was presenting crap like fake Donald Trump vs fake Rosie O' Donnell

But ever since the Russo era onwards and shit like the Last Rites match TNA has been on a steady downward spiral and is turning into a low rent WCW clone.

Can't fault Powerslam on that score personally.

  6. Ring of Hell actually wasn't that bad but, as somebody pointed out to me, it's all single sourced. Not good.

Kevin Nash is quoted as a source at one point and then slagged off for being a hypocrite and a liar later on. Its a right kick in the guts/balls when you read stories like the one where Scott Hall pissed on Benoits boots and they were using it as an example of bullying or something. It was a well known story that Hall was pissed off his face and Benoit wasnt exactly crying about it. Benoit might have shaken his head or laughed about the state Hall was in, but for the amount of times I heard that one, I never heard about it being a bullying tactic. Benoit and Hall were on good terms. Hall's nickname for him was "Dynamite". Benoit was on a different level to the opinion the likes of Hall and Nash had for Guerrero, Malenko and Jericho. Benoit was always head and shoulders above the rest. Even in WCW, everyone knew he was a world class worker.

Randazzo does this several times with different people.

Guys like Paul Heyman, Scott Hall and Nash are lying evil pieces of shit one minute then when he wants to attack WWE their quotes become valuble sources of information.

Whats makes me sick about him is that in Ring of Hell he basically describes the Pro-Wrestling industry as a "Human Meat Grinder" and portrays the Wrestlers as marks willing to kill themselves for a bit of fame.

Then he's in Power Slam bitching about how Vince McMahon has nothing new and fresh happening coming out of Wrestlemania 25.

Surely if Pro Wrestling's as evil as he makes out it is in his book the biggest problem is that Wrestlemania or any other pro wrestling events take place at all?

  7. I still like both FSM and Power Slam, FSM looks more professional but Power Slam has a kind of bare bones fanzine design that i actually quite like and some really good photos most issues.

That said Power Slam went down a notch with me when they started referring to John Cena's comebacks in his matches as a "Spongebob Squarepants Comeback"

I don't like John Cena at all but a comment like that is even more Childish than the behaviour/language from Cena that Power Slam frequently criticises in his matches/promos.

They stopped doing that after one issue though thank god!

  8. Hi folks,

The new issue of FSM is now in all good newsagents, and from http://www.fightingspiritmagazine.co.uk/subscribe.asp.

As always, this month's magazine is stacked with news, reviews, columns and features, including an examination of WWE under the management of Triple-H; a first-hand account of everything that took place across WrestleMania weekend; an interview with Wade Barrett; Sting's crazy start to 2011 in TNA; the most in-depth breakout of the wXw 16 Carat Gold tournament anywhere; how the British Wrestling Coalition is improving life for UK-based wrestlers; how the NCAA tournament spawned stars of pro wrestling and MMA; and a detailed look at the UFC's purchase of Strikeforce.

I hope you'll consider picking the magazine up, and offering your feedback in this thread. :)

Bought my copy today on lunch so far I've only read the first piece on Triple H's backstage role.

I thought it was really well written and made a lot of valid points about the good/bad aspects of HHH as a performer and a member of the booking committee.

  9. in this months issue, his rant about the statement on WWE Corporate website about the company asking fans not to submit storylines etc etc... i noticed how he buried WWE with that then put himself over by saying readers could submit their ideas to him.

I thought that was a wierd comment myself

Surely the reason WWE dosen't ask fans to submit storylines is a bunch of nutters/timewasters will start claiming that all the companys ideas were based on things they submitted if whether it's true or not.

  10. I still enjoy it

His slagging of Jericho goes a bit too far and too frequant and I dont agree with all his comments about Kevin Nash

That being said I agree with him on Flair, Bret and Foley I think he is bang on the money with them 3, I think he still makes some good points his critique of why WWE tour in the UK is not bringing in crowds was spot on last month for example

He also made Dixie Carter look like a complete numpty when he reviewed her shoot interview last month

Not seen it yet but from what I've heard Dixie Carter is a complete numpty in the youshoot interview

Still brave of her to do it I guess
