  1. I read Brock Lesnar's autobiography this week. I'm not a very quick reader but breezed through this in 2 nights.

It's only 200-odd pages so he never gets very in-depth about any particular event from his career: the night he won the NCAA Div 1 championship, all his big WWE matches, and all his big UFC matches - he doesn't spend more than a couple of pages on any of those.

There is nothing about how he and Sable got together (but he does gush over how amazing she is whenever her name crops up) and he's one of those wrestlers that can't remember specific events which seem a big deal to us fans as they all just blend together for him. For example: the plane ride from hell.

Despite sounding negative in the above 2 paragraphs, I did enjoy it.

Some good stories about training for the NCAA's, his meteoric WWE push, the problems he had with the Inoki's in Japan, and battling the lawsuit with WWE, all very interesting.

And he really, really does hate Frank Mir.

Didn't know he had done one , have to find it now

  2. Finished reading the goldust book read it in about 4 hours, too brief from me but the majority is spent talking about his drug abuse.

Death of WCW is quite a funny read and Jericho's first book was good. In contrast, the Hogan book was a work of fiction and the Rock's book was just full of promos

And is it me or are the best wrestling books are the ones not published by WWE?

Is Goldust book new or old ?

  3. Watched 'Bronson' last night, it had its moments but generally I wasn't too overwhelmed by it. Seemed violent just for the sake of being violent and didn't really cover a lot of his life.

Having read the book i feel that the film was a huge huge let down especially as the guy playing Bronson was fantastic , this film should and could have been a lot better !

  4. For me it would be El Ligero - i have never seen him have a bad match.

My personnal best for him was against Jonny Storm at FWA , i went to the show in Nottingham with real excitement at seeing the LDRS v Project Ego and didn't believe that i could see a match on that card that would be better.

I also loved El Ligero v Spud at RDW - both were fantastic in that match.

In my mind Spud would be 2nd , I'm afraid that most of the time that i see him wrestle i don't see the best of him as he is often making the other guy look brilliant and the crowd hate him , but he has with out a dought the best gimmick in British wrestling - Period !!!!

  5. Thing is though on this occasion. Judging by the write up from Rainz which is loaded with inside information, its more likely wrestlers and/or trainees may have voted rather than fans, so the 'nice guy' thing might be relevant here. People that know him have likely voted for him despite him being a nice guy which you think they wouldn't. So I was surprised to see him here also but he is and thats that.

Surely that suggests, then, that he definitely deserves to be here? If he is such a nice guy - and from the few times we've met I'd have to corroborate that as true, although there are other things that would lead me to suggest otherwise - then the fact that he got voted down on would surely be even more accurate, and not be based on these wrestlers or trainees' feelings about him as a person?

Maybe he does deserve to be on here , is he the greatest wrestler - NO - was Hogan , Warrior , Big Daddy. Do the crowd seem to love him - YES.

Please nobody think that Rainz is quitting because he is on the shit list.

It is personal things that were written about him from people he regarded as friends , my theory is that it might have come from a third party who thinks there big spreading some gossip they heard from a wrestler.

Rainz is a real nice guy who loves the business , he has constantly given time , effort , passion and a lot of money to the business , he really didn't deserve this to be written about him.

Furthermore Benny - you did not have to print everyone's opinions , you had a choice , and for your actions you have really upset a good man , who after nearly 20 years is now walking away from the business he loved. Yes Rainz is my friend and i felt sick when i read what had been said.

Why does there have to be a shit list - WHAT GOOD DOES IT DO ?

  6. he (rainz) is very upset over this apparently he's taken the comments to heart and quit...

I can't believe some wrestlers have such fragile egos.......actually, I can. Ignore that last statement.

I never thought having a shit list was a good idea , what the hell is it meant to achieve anyway ? The only thing that it really going to achieve is upsetting people. Now i don't think for one moment what surf's mum done was right however she must of done it because her son was being needlessly attacked which had upset her.

Next Rainz - this man dedicates himself to NBW , he helps bring through young talent , flyers , and often loses money - and for what - because he loves wrestling , he is not a taker from wrestling , he is a giver and people on here have made him feel so low that he feels like he needs to quit. The comments were personnal and spiteful , that is why he is upset.

Benny , i love the top 50 and think it's great but when you write the shitlist you try to palm of the comments as other peoples although i think you need to take responsability for making the decision to do a shit list in the first place and then publishing peoples comments.

  7. The one 'comment' about PTW/my mother/etc alone is both untrue, and unnecessary, and bearing in mind it came from the mouth of a 'man' who lies more than he breathes, Nick 'I spit water over people because I can't get heat any other way' Bourne; who no sane person has ever listened to in their lives - speaks volumes about how much you people dislike me, if you'll believe a scumbag like that. I mean, you might want to ask people their personal views on the bloke who's saying that before you say anything about me.

The photo of me you've used is from 2007. Living in the past much? I've lost two and a half stone since then, and shaved my head. Want my new proper promo picture? At least get your facts half straight if you're going to do all this.

As for the police thing, it's just a situation at football that has been blown ridiculously out of proportion (why don't you ask Bedfordshire Police? Oh, no, that'd mean not assuming things on your behalf), that has nothing to do with PTW.

As for the comments about 'young females', I'll not even react to that on most levels. I'm certainly not married, and never was, I'll say that much; and my children are at a lot of PTW events (want to criticise me for that too? go ahead...some of us are proud to be a father), so if you want to assume (there's that word again, it's what people do when they only have rumour and hearsay to use against someone); go ahead. I can't stop you, but it shows how desperate people are when they have to sink to these comments. If you know me personally, you'll know I have the most amazing girlfriend who I am thoroughly unashamed to admit I am all loved up over, and am even trying to grow up for. Take the piss all you want there, because I simply don't care.

On a booking note, I never book myself to 'take glory', if anything, you can ask the people I work with; all I do is book myself to help put others over, and bump around (okay, I'm not great, try asking people I work with, I'm ridiculously humble on the subject, and I'm still learning; but who the hell isnt still learning?) for the boys. Wow, what a sin, the promoter that doesn't have to do it but wants to help, gets thrown about a bit to make his lads look good.

But I'll make the day of all of you, I'll tell you that I am legitimately not booking Dan Edge anymore. No, that's not a 'work', or a 'shoot', and anyone nearish to the situation will tell you that's completely genuine. Also, that wasn't the main event the night of our 'match'; as James Mason vs Johnny Kidd was. I doubt it actually will, as I have never been given any benefit of the doubt on this forum, but perhaps that will go someway to you all seeing some changes; same as the upcoming main event of PTW's October 9th show, which is James Mason vs Jonny Storm. I don't suppose either point will get the majority of you to see things even remotely differently, but I figured both things were worth a mention.

Anyway, deep down I always dreamed of making your little list, and am only quite disappointed in an odd way; that I didn't make first. There's always next year, I guess, and I will now go off and promote three PTW shows in three different parts of the UK in three weeks; to attempt to overcome and come to terms with my disappointment. Eitherways, despite the inaccuracy of most of what was posted; thank you for putting me on your list. Professional/two faced enough for you?

    I love you guys!

Where is your event on oct 9th as i thought i'd check you out for myself , and if Storm is there it's gotta be half decent !

Can you let me know some details as it wasn't on your website - venue , cost etc

  8. Okay then, I'm back. Countdowns to continue imminently....

    When

When will first place be announced ?

After second place has been announced.

Give the guy a break, he's doing something for nothing, and puts some serious effort into it as well. He's allowed to do things other than this list.

I didn't mean to sound like i was busting his balls , just really wanted to see the rest of the rankings

  9. Of the ones you've ordered, I've only read Regal's and it's very good. By far the best of the ghostwritten wrestling autobiographies I've read.

For other suggestions, I think the Death of WCW is a decent read, and the Hardy Boyz book is alright, though it seems like a straight transcript at times from an interview with them so from memory a lot of it is Matt telling a story and then Jeff saying "Yeah, absolutely, it was awesome, man" or some other line that seems a bit redundant for an autobiography.

I really enjoyed the death of WCW as well - very factual and interesting !!!

  10. There are two reasons for this thread.

    1. I have just ordered a few books and was wondering if anyone else had read them.

    2. Im looking for ideas as to what to get next after I've read these ones.

Ok I have ordered the following books on amazon:

    1. Walking a golden mile - William Regal (wanted to read this one for a while)

    2. Bobby The Brain Hennan - Wrestling's Bad Boy Tells All

    3. Turning the Tables

    4. Dungeon of Death

    5. Missy Hyatt - First Lady of Wrestling

    6. Main Event - WWE in the raging 80's

Has anyone read any of those and if so what are your thoughts?

Secondly after working my way through is there any titles anyone would say are must reads. I already have the following:

    Foley's 3

    Bret's

    Jericho's

    Flair's

    Hogan's first

    Eddie's

    Michaels'

    Angle's

    Rise and Fall of ECW

    Funk's

    The Rock's

    Kane's

    Thanks guys

I've read most of the above

    also recommend

    Jerry Lawler's

    Baptista's

    Ted Dibiase's

    Lita's

    Edge's
